All your post said was boosting Rein in spite of the speed nerf. There's dozens of variables that decide who and when to boost.

Reaper's no longer as good of a boost target any more, unlike Rein. He shouldn't need the damage buff to make the most out of his Ult, a Zarya bubble does pretty much the same thing damage reduction would. The speed increase was a huge part of Reaper's post-Ult clean up.

Does anyone feel like the quality of matches have gone down since the latest update?

I mean, Hanzo and Widowmaker was interchangeable and I expected Sombra to be interchangeable to Genji but instead it's Hanzo/Widow, Genji and Sombra every match - and it seems like no one plays support or tank at all now. Period. Before the update there'd be that one person who would pick it, and now no one does at all.

Besides people's choices, it seems like there's just no balance with matchmaking at all right now. Every match I've been in is a stomp, either from my side or the enemy teams. A friend who is a much higher rank than me has said the same thing as well.

Is it because the introduction of Arcade has split the playerbase so drastically?

I think so. Before there was QP, Comp, vsAI and Brawl, 4 things. Now there's QP, Comp, vsAI, 1v1, 3v3, Brawl, Mystery and No Limits, 8 things.

Few people will bother with vsAI but with the "free" boxes from wins in the Arcade I suspect that's had a huge impact on the queues and matchmaking overall. I suspect they might remove some or all of the Arcade loot boxes because of the negative effect of matchmaking.

Smaller pool of player = harder to match them = crappier games.

Finally have a chance to try out the PC version with this free weekend. It feels weird after playing it for at least two months straight when it launched on PS4 and now switching to PC, but I'm sure it won't take long to get used to.

I'm just worried about the strain on my computer. It runs pretty good, but I so rarely play PC games with modern graphics that I'm not sure if it's taking a toll on my hardware. Most of my computer parts are pretty old.

My GPU temp was a consistent 93C the entire time. Is that normal? Or is that too high?

I only bought it on PS4 to play with friends but they all bailed on me and playing with analog sticks was a nightmare once people started gitting gud and COD kiddies were starting to get used to it. I really wanna play this shit with a mouse, it's just been so long since I've played any PC shooters.

I just wanted to open up discussion about the lack of unofficial dedicated servers.

My gaming group and I have been playing Team Fortress 2 for over 8 years together and one of the best experiences we had in the game was running multiple dedicated servers and building up a community to play with. I ran the servers myself, along with servers for other multiplayer games for the past 12 or so years.

I'm curious to the reasoning behind why Blizzard did not include a standalone dedicated server (like SRCDS)? I get that they want to maintain control of their users (and apparently lock the tick rate at 20), but if you take a look at other games out there that people are still playing after 5 or 10+ years, the reason is because there are groups out there running dedicated servers that have a loyal player-base. While some run vanilla versions of the game, others run modded servers that create a whole new player experience.

In my opinion, not putting some control in the hands of its customers will ultimately cause this game to fade away. I have to use TF2 as an example because Valve did it right. They have a matchmaking system and official Valve servers, but they also have dedicated servers run by the players themselves.
This is huge.

To conclude and provide a little context....yes, I do this type of thing for a living (network/server admin) and I have seen many games benefit from having an open system where the players themselves have a hand in building the community and strengthening the longevity of a game. So far this has been my only gripe with OW and I really hope Blizzard can reconsider this topic.

Pretty much desu. The whole reason I played tf2 for as long as I did was because I found a server with a fun community. Kaplan talks about how they want a server browser, public custom games and whatnot but I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully if that ever does happen we could maybe get something bigger than 6v6 because I'm not the biggest fan of small team sizes. Not sure how that would play out with the current maps and ults but I'd at least like to try it out.

Not really, the "ana bad pls switch" stigma carried on for much longer and buffs didn't help her popularity much, even if they were needed buffs. She didn't enter the meta elder god status until Zen's nerfs made people discover just how good she was.

If your computer is old then yes it does make sense kind of.

Bad ventilation on your case does impact up to 10 degrees celsius. Take off the side panel that shows your internals, and if you're concerned about something getting stuck inside then at least lean the side panel up to the computer but leave a good gap around it so that it can exhaust heat.

Cap your game's frame rate to whatever your monitor is running (60 since you have an old computer I doubt you'd have a 120hz monitor), because excess frame rate is more processing power especially when you don't get to see the difference without a monitor to match it.

If you have the Fermi series of Nvidia's GPU (GTX 4--) then yes those temperatures are normal even in idle.

If you live in a place where your average temperature is over 27C then yes you can expect that type of temperature on a GPU unless you have a watercooled system.
