Every weapon that doesn't have split damage/bloodtinge scaling can be good with full elemental gems.
You can also use Logarius' Wheel and Holy Moonlight Sword with nourishing gems (those weapons are for 50arc, 25str), Tonitrus with bolt gems and Kos' Parasite with arcane gems.

As I said in my reply in the last thread (sorry), I'm looking for nonconventional arcane weapons so more of what make s a good or bad arcane weapon.

I assumed that any weapon you could get the gems slots for (uncanny/etc) could be an arcane weapon but I think someone corrected me on that a long time ago.

It's probably insane with BLT gems, but then you're stuck with nothing but a big twohanded gun. The spear functionality is good.

Nope, only the ones I mentioned.
Blade of Mercy, Amygdalan Arm and Burial Blade have innate arcane scaling, but it's so low that even appropriate gems can't make it good. The fact that they're split damage also means that you can't convert them entirely.
So, weapons to use:
Weapons that don't have split damage at all (like Threaded Cane, or Church Pick)
Wheel
Moonlight
Parasite
Tonitrus
Flame Sprayer and Rosmarinus

Weapons that you should avoid like plague:
Blade of Mercy
Burial Blade
Amy Arm
Boom Hammer
Any blt/half gun weapon

Kirkhammer is a yes, Stake Driver is also a yes since its damage is purely physical.
Beast Claw can be an arcane weapon, but beasthood only affects physical attacks, so it will be pretty shit with elemental gems.

Outside of /bbg/ most people go 120, some even 150.
If you want to stop at 98 or lower 15 end is enough with end runes.

When I see a dude with a huge shield and spear, I think turtle. When I see a dude with a fuckhuge sword, I think he wants to smash things with a big rock. But the secondary part is I think he may be afraid of combat where you trade blows and dodges, learn enemy moves, etc, so he probably is defensive until an enemy is stuck in recovery, then just smashes his hunk of metal on him and hopes he's dead so the fight is over.

It always seemed like a fear thing because I helped so many people in Tower of Latria and if they couldn't smash the flayers with one hit they died, and often times they died running at them. Dex/agility based players maybe died as much while learning but not as easy since their plan required them to be mobile and expect to dodge blows.

That said, you didn't try to understand what I was saying, you either:

Simple, three gems of the same element convert your weapon's damage entirely.
The elements are fire, bolt and arcane, each one is very effective against certain types of enemies.
Nourishing gems are another useful arcane resource since they boost both elemental damage and arcane on weapons with innate arcane. This makes them ideal for Moonlight and Wheel.

What bosses can be backstab chained?

Are the Witches of Hemwick the only bosses slow enough for that to work on?

If I'm at the end of the game and I've never done chalices but I've sold all my chalice related ritual components (not the actual chalices themselves) do I have to wait until NG+ to get some of the components that will allow me to do all the story chalices and then the other ones? Or can I get enough to start one of the story chalices and then just get ritual components in the chalices themselves?

Alternatively I can beat the game and start a new character and do the chalices with that through the game properly (right now I'm pretty much doing just a first run through quality build, not sure how good it'll be for pvp or co-op)

So I decided to make a new character a few days ago, been playing on and off. Got to the first chalice earlier today.
Coming to the third floor, I found this mob hiding in the same spot it always is. Instead of killing it straight away, I decided to leave it. Few seconds later, I heard the soft pattering of footsteps, followed by the equally soft sound of something like chimes.

I lost the fucking glyph, but I found a unique enemy in there once. It was one of these guys except without a box. And he had no behavior beyond running at full speed to try to murder me, and no aggro radius either.

Speaking of unique enemies, I've always found it odd that this particular enemy has only ever spawned in the third layer of the Pthumeru Labyrinth. In all my hours playing, I don't recall ever seeing it in another labyrinth.
I've also never seen those bizarre giant worm things that that apparently have a low chance of spawning in tunnels in Chalice Dungeons, too.

Amy Arm is fun, but it's damage is verging on poor.

The Whirli and Pick are problem solvers, I use them for fighting harder bosses and/or in co-op where we're trying to clear and area quick or beat a boss fast. Were the Amy Arm's damage less lacking, or it could be buffed, then it would take both places. But it's a 'for fun' weapon.

Honestly, I can't even give a straight answer for either, they are rough estimates.

Surprised to read so many people are down on the Amygdalan Arm. It's my personal favorite. I love grotesque/aberrant stuff, and wielding the arm makes me feel like a true monster.

It feels the most complete out of all the games in the series, IMO. Dark Souls 1-3 suffer from issues that smack of a rushed release, and Demon Souls is kind of a messy experience. There isn't an area in Bloodborne that doesn't feel the way it was intended. Plus, the story and setting are a lot more focused.

I like to make the camera completely level with my character so I'm looking dead on instead of at an angle for that roll, makes it a lot easier to notice when you're gonna hit the arch, remember to roll just a little later than you think you should. If you're still having trouble it's a bit easier if you're going up instead of down.

Cannon and Gatling Gun are okay, Blunderbuss isn't a Strength weapon but it has a heavy feel. Ludwig's Rifle too but it's usually shitters who can't parry who use it. No one uses shields moderately in this game, but Wooden is good for blocking bullets. Fist sucks.

MV:40+/10+/14/15/50/6. 28 Strength for Church Cannon and Gatling Gun with some damage on the Bloodletter untricked. Or 25 Skill for mediocre damage on Chikage and Bowblade untricked plus extra visceral damage but you could just unzip after parrying for more damage so 15 Skill is fine.

Arcane-
CF:40+/12+/10/9/5/50+. Hunter Tools scale well past 50 so 70-90-99 Arcane is common for Pure Arcane builds. Or you could do a Str/Arc hybrid for the HMS, Wheel, Boomhammer and Tonitrus with 25/12+ Str/Skl and Nourishing gems.

Use Blood Bullets before shooting the Cannon to help cut the bullet cost a bit. Blunderbuss and Hunter Pistol are really all you need for melee builds.

Playing blind first time around is fun, wish I could do it all over again.

The L2 moves on 2-handed weapons are your friend. Axe, Hammer, Ludwigs, Whirligig all have useful attacks (and even attack strings) mapped to L2 when tricked.

When you are one-handing though it's good to always have a pistol/blunderbuss for easy parrying, and a Cannon can make a great FUCK YOU button for emergencies (upgrades it'll one-shot most basic mobs and even pvpers, or do a huge chunk of boss health if you hit a weak spot), or Gattling Gun for nice chip damage and stagger lock on enemies who have no poise/hyper armour.

For most weapons to convert to Fire/Bolt/Arcane you'll want 2 +65 Cold Abyssals and an elemental gem. Early game a Fire Waning after BSB and 2 Pthumeru Hotdog Radials (run the first chalice twice) on a Saw Spear will get you through most of the game. At the end of the DLC you'll have access to 20.3% Bolt gems from the Lightning Wizards.

Ludwig Blade and Kos Parasite only need one Cold Abyssal. Arcane weapons will benefit from having Radial, Radial, Triangle while Fire/Bolt should be Lost versions (Radial, Triangle, Waning). Isz Watchers drop 27.2% fire/bolt/arcane Triangles, Fire/Bolt Waning Abyssals from Hotdog/Abhorrent. There's a guide in the OP that can help before getting FRC gems.
