Started with 3U because someone said its a good content to cost ratio.

More or less are there any weapons I should avoid? I liked the longsword and switch axe for quite a while before I realized I can't block with them but at the same time I don't know how necessary blocking is.
I liked the hammer as well, can't get behind the lance too much (despite it having the ability to block which...again I"m not sure how much I need that I guess I just want that)

Mostly I want to know is anything BAD so I can just ignore it because I'm having a super hard time picking just one weapon.

Been playing since Tri. Not a veteran, but been around long enough to know that 20% extra damage is not worth the lack of survivability that adept brings. Striker is viable, certainly - but if you get hit at the wrong time, your demon riot is wasted, or your energy charge is wasted. Plus, it's hard to deal damage to the monster when you've been sent flying/trampled/whatever because your 2 frames of invincibility during your dodge didn't match up with the 65 active attack frames of whatever monster you're fighting. If you adept dodge, then run back towards the thing and counterattack (a feature built in to adept style) then the loss of damage is negligible in the long run.

Striker is for time attacks, adept is better for actually hunting, in other words.

Why not just use the premade literally built for Switch Axe deviant armor then? Silverwind gives EE and Evasion+2 ON TOP of Crit Boost and CE 3, which compliments DR and EC ridiculously well. Not really. If I hit the monster once for 150 damage and then get hit, I roll around on the floor, get up (risking being hit again depending on how much of a cunt the monster is), and potentially have to sheath, heal, and resume attacking. Meanwhile, if I adept dodge I can counterattack for 100 damage, twice with SA since it's a two-hit combo.

As long as you can keep dodging Striker will outdamage adept, but the moment you have to run off and heal adept is going to keep fighting.

I really don't have to, all Gen SA TAs are either Striker or Guild because of DR and EC combo. The proof in the pudding that Adept can't compare is that there ISN'T any Adept SA TA. Those TA results are all the proof you need that Striker hunts finishes the fastest.

With Evasion+2 from Silverwind you can sidestep through most attacks and keep attacking with your at least 27.5% more attack while Adept does its run out and run-in.

Played some 4U today for the first time since gen was released.

I'd forgotten how bad the framerate was on O3DS. Maybe thats why i enjoyed gen so much. Also forgot about those nifty cinematics and the general nice presentation of 4U.
