Everything floated before pendulums though. And the graveyard was basically your second hand.
Not saying that still isn't the case or anything, but Pendulums if anything have only helped to move the game away from being solely focused on the graveyard. The game has also gotten far more options to get rid of monsters, in such ways that would not put pendulums ontop of the extra deck, which naturally works on non-pendulum floaters too.

The game has improved from pendulums being introduced.
I can't imagine people who claim that pendulums ruined the game by floating having played the game much. Because floating was already the hot thing and leading trend.

As far as I'm concerned, the biggest problem with Pendulums is in creating ways to stop them that both aren't Pend-specific hate and that won't also murder most things that aren't Pendulums. Against Pends as monsters, banishing or sending them back to hand or deck works, but those also work against nearly every other deck. Meanwhile, using banish or spin against Pends as Spells is fine, but it's overkill against most non-Pend backrow.

I think in that sense, the mere existence of Pendulums has been a major event in the removal arms race.

Make no mistake. The card is not meta because of pendulums. The card is now meta because decks can make boards even without it. Like ABCs most prominently. Play your field and then activate Anti-Spell Fragrance and you've pretty much won since you can just loop your monster effects over and over again. And yet, even in the mirror the card will grant you victory since it prevents the opponent from playing their field. And other decks too have spells they rely upon. Even if they don't need them after they've been played, allowing them to also main Anti-Spell Fragrance.

Do you honestly believe that if Pendulums were to be suddenly purged from the game this very instant, people would stop playing Anti-Spell Fragrance and it would disappear from the meta?

First off, if you are going to impregnate a card with magic pendulum sperm, do it with a ritual monster next time. I want friggin ritual pendulums.

Second, it depends in what palys you want. As much as Tune Magician seems like a great tuner, that banishing thing komoney did really screws up the deck. So, Psy-Frame Omega and/or Scarlight, things that do stuff to turn the tables are your best bet. Omega also retrieves cards to the grave, which is a big difference in using her.

Third: Xyz. She is a 1-card r4nk, which means she is an instant Dire Wold, or Lightning or shit like that. And shit like that is good shit nowadays

That's a good card, but to help with Tune and murder ABC at the same time, it seems like the only card. Then again, A 1-card lvl 8 synchro or r4nk is a big advantage. Summon a Tune together with Chaos Hunter and use Tune to go Abyss Dweller, you will be basically raping ABC more than Tuning Magician raped Yuya
