That is a tweak i am also planning, with of course time stopping during the boss fights because i want them kinda lengthy. Another tweak i'm making is have the elevators stay turned off until you beat the boss (or miniboss every 20 levels for ez mode). Stamina cost shouldn't be too much of a problem since people will need to pack lunches for health regeneration anyway.

Takes Maru for example, she's supposed to be a nerdy and a somewhat dorky young girl, her final designs conveys that much better than her early design. Even if it's undeniably as ugly as sin, from that point of view is a better design.
It's even more evident for for Abby, her final design is ugly but her proto design has nothing to do with her personality.
Ironically enough, I find Penny final design less fitting even when it's prettiest Penny by far.

So I've been trying to look into smapi modding and stuff, and I ran across the Entoarox Framework (http://community.playstarbound.com/resources/entoarox-framework.4228/), and from what I've read it lets you load custom files and stuff.
I wanted to mess around with it, but... how does it work? Anyone know?

As in, for example, how do I make it so that the game, under certain circumstances (like, I don't know, after a specific event), loads a different schedule for a character instead of the default one?

I wanted to take a crack at a "rival marriages/dating" idea I've seen by doing something like that, but I can't understand how the framework, well, works.

Well, if you modded the girls (and the boys too, thank MFoMT), you'd obviously have to make portraits and sprites for them, and try to integrate them into the town.
For example Doctor and Elli could come for two days each week to visit Harvey and hand in supplies or something.
Karen visits Pierre's Shop 'cause him and her father are friends, while Rick and Popuri check out Marnie's Ranch.
Gary sometimes visits Clint because there's iridium in Pelican Town, while he brings mythril and stuff, and Mary hangs out with Penny and Gunther at the library.
Ann visits your farm and Pierre's Shop to look for good produce, and the Saloon.

Dunno about Cliff and Kai though. I guess the latter could come visit in the spring/autumn (since he visits Mineral Town in the summer), while the former could come to Pelican Town only if you've talked to Ann and have chosen the right answer (so he ended up unemployed and looking for work instead of working at Duke's winery).

Yeah, HM:DS does kinda have more stuff to do.
I can't really pinpoint what it is though. I mean, both have farming, both have extremely dumbed down combat systems, both have quite a lot of potential love interests, heck Stardew Valley even takes a page out of HM:DS Cute and lets you change your clothes.

A difference is in the way heart levels ae handled. You gain friendship points way too early and easily in SDV (the cap is 2500, with each heart being 250 points, while in HM the cap is 65535, with each heart being around 9999 points).
Oh, and the marriage element in HM doesn't completely suck, even going as far as making your kids grow up to teenagers. And the cooking skill is actually worth something (I'm looking at you, cooking festival), and the animals in HM aren't totally useless, even profitable...
And I guess there's more festivals (LOOKING AT YOU, COOKING FESTIVAL) and generally more dialogue and events in HM.
And (imo) more pleasing graphics.

Another issue if you came from HM games, Stardew doesnt offer anything new, maybe the museum. Hell even the 1.1 update didnt offered anything new with new farms (Magical melody for instance) or Magical building (Teleport stone and Harvest sprite slaves that you paid with flour). Modding is the strong point of this game since people wants to add NPCs, Areas and other stuff that can keep the game growing and improving. Stardew is good as a start point but not as improvent over HM.
