I'm doing for the first time a spell caster run on Dark Souls 2 and I'm trying to figure out how hexes work, particularly why using a Witchtree staff + 8 and with 40 INT / 10 FAITH my black orb does more damage than a great heavy soul arrow, I get that it scales with the lower stat but does it mean that the lower Faith is the higher the damage or if I increase my Faith the damage of the orb will be even higher? or in this case it's because I'm using a catalyst that gives a good bonus to dark magic?


also I'd get asap the moonlight greatswordbut that implies using a bonfire ascetic and fighting one of the worst bosses like it's in NG+, if I do that, will i get my ass whooped in the real NG+ because the boss will be NG++?

By the times of DS3 both Serpents seems to be already dead and no matter how weakened the Flame is, it's still the most powerful energy in the world and you become a walking embodiment of it probably capable of space/time altering at will. Holy shit how people manage to lose with those, specially against ultras. I felt bad for the ultra fellowmen I fought, it was 100% hopeless for them. Now I see that every spear user that lost to me was terribly bad at this game.

I can just attack without any commitment and get hits in, I have actual range, true combos, HA, extra free weight, low stat investment, versatility in my build, can cancel out ANY attack. And I'm actually doing more damage because of combos, with the same HA because of poise.

To answer your question, no. Poise does something now. It helps you withstand the frightening power of the Carthus Curved Sword when you use ultra weapons with high Poise. D:

With Poise in mind, you can withstand more attacks with the UGS so they are not that bad. Longswords are still pretty much the same. Gotthard's rolling L1 got nerfed. It's slower now.

Honestly I think joining a covenant should be a commitment and a once per character thing. Once you join a covenant, you can only join another by betraying your current and bringing the leader ashes to another covenant leader. If you fuck up, you have to start a new NG cycle.

But for this to work, each covenant must have one kind of each multiplayer interaction, so no one is "left out". These are: Being Summoned to Help (White soap), Being Summoned to Fight (Red soap), Auto Summoned (Covenant Item), Invading (Red Orb). The first step is nerfing white phantoms without covenant, I just don't know how.

Then make covenant rewards exclusive for each covenant:
Rank 1 - Snowflake gesture for covenants bros recognize each other
Rank 2 - Covenant Set, all have the exact same stats, just cosmetic difference.
Rank 3 - Covenant Shield, all have the exact same stats, just cosmetic difference.

My one issue with beacon is that it only lasts like 30 seconds, and I needed to divert some stats into faith/int for it

I initially planned on using carthus rouge on them since that lasts like a full minute and bleed trashes bosses and enemies alike.

Rate my glass cannon dragon build for aldritch invasions/ariandel invasions, this is actually a recreation of an DS1 build that I used at the anor londo archers which was some fun shit.

Millwood Greatbow best bow

I prefer spook to tears of denial by the way as the particle effect of tears is not concealed by the obscuring ring and spook complements my obscuring ring better

I also switch to the Flynn ring when I dont need to be that stealthy for just a bit of extra damage

I use the 30% roll so I utilize my 108 stamina & Flynn ring effectively, this build doesnt leave much room for END unless I level up

I also experimented with the sunlight sword buff but it was not worth it as it is nerfed in pvp and it was way too long to setup.

Is there any improvement to this build?

since ever. 2handing a bow doesn't really count as 2handing, as you don't really have an option between 1hand and 2hand to use it. you can easily confirm it yourself having a character use a gbow with 66 str and then with 80 or so. close to 99 you get a significant boost too

You need to kill one other archdemon, any of them.

If you didn't kill the 3 lords yet, gotthard should invade you in dark firelink and killing him would grant the key
You should be able to kill the 4 lords in any order, as in
Catacombs should be acessed by the graves in the Settlement, by using a key found in the swamp, meaning you can skip the Abysswatchers Manor completely until you feel like killing them.
The profaned capital should be acessed by both Demon's Ruins and the Dungeon, but each entrance gives access to one half of it. The stormruler is in one half, the boss in the other.
Titanites should change its level (largue>chunks) depending on how many Lords of Cinder you killed so far

The bosses are really easy but the areas are stupidly hard with swarms of enemies. I had the most difficult time at the Cardinal Tower until I increased my ADP and change my weapon from a dagger to a mace
