Holy shit, setting the World Age to Old makes the game so much better. Why is over half the fucking map hills on normal settings? Scouts that can only move one fucking tile a turn in the early game is fucking tedious. Forests and Rivers I can deal with, but the fucking hills man. There's like 5x as many as there should be.

I got an archer in my city, I want to attack a horseman (barbarian, I would have cleared them if my most my forces weren't occupied defending against Gilgamesh) but a wood is in the way, so he would opt to walk around some. So I cleared the wood with a worker (to build up my walls quicker and to get line of sight) and the shooting icon appears, the red bow thingy, but instead of shooting he still tries to walk around.

Also, when I try to do it manually, by selecting ranged attack...nothing happens.

What the fuck?

Yeah, it's tough. It really depends on what civ you are playing, what civ they are and what their/your victory condition is.
I've alled with England as France and with Egypt and Rome as Sumeria.
The rest of the time, even with a lot of positive modifiers, their agenda/hidden agenda are just weighted too heavily for you to ever befriend them.
It just needs some serious tweaking. Hopefully Firaxis are paying attention and patch it soon.
It really makes me wonder what the fuck they are smoking when they supposedly have been running AI battles internally for months testing the AI out.
>>
>>158559346
if you manage to get an alliance you don't need to think about this one AI attacking you and forcing you to waste hammers on repairing improvements/districts, units to fight it off, etc.

>>
>>158559775
It would be broken if it was twice as strong.

the idea is that if you have extra units you can combine them and that way get more units fighting at the same time, especially important in bad terrain.
>>
>>158559775
can you combine different unit types
>>
>>158559775
twice would be insane, because they would take significantly less damage and do significantly more in one action

>>
>conquer all of arabia as teddy

why? I had a cb and was on another continent than everyone else(outside of arabia). Does that make such a big difference?
>>
>>158559775
Simply multiplying their strength would just make them broken.
Do armies cut down the upkeep costs?
>>
>>158559775

Combining units means you can fit more shit on the map and in narrow chokes, it might also modify health or maintenance in ways that makes it profitable on the long run

Plus, you get more efficiency out of building these straight out of the gates
>>

the game can be easily cheesed, I just don't do it.
For example it's easy to build up ridiculous amount of faith generation, far more you need even for religious victory.

Then you can just kind of turn it to hammers by faith-buying units with Theocracy and selling faith-bought units for lots of gold. And you can sell them the turn you buy them so you can just dump all the faith you ever accumulated and turn it into gold in a single turn.

I don't disagree that stations are a money drain, but if you're facing a big endgame fleet then pinning it down with a station concertina can be a useful trick.
Also this was before the 9999 cap, so yeah I guess now fleets can get as big as you want, BUILD WALL of stations now carries an opportunity cost.

To put it simply : it's Cossack 1 in 3D.

It fixes a few bugs (like the stone extraction upgrade cancelling each others, or the farmer's salary augmentation giving +10% instead of +50%), has its own bugs (line of fire isn't always obvious, so your cannons sometimeshave to move around ruins to fire), erases some other stuff that was near (like the ingame encyclopedia, the game doesn't always tell you if an unit requires gold for upkeep) and the AI is improved, but it really feels like Cossacks 1.

Germany is funny because it really does feel like you just play passively for eras on end until your production hits nuclear fusion levels then you pop out four tanks a turn
It's not even tied to a unique unit (the Uboat is underwhelming), it's just so valuable to go full autism for three or four eras making a hansa/commercial district conglomerate.
Seriously the Hansa is sleeper OP, best unique district in the game above the baths

I feel like units should obsolete slower. The system worked in Civ 5 because strategic resources were everywhere and easier to trade for. But this is not the case in Civ 6, so once you research a tech, you might be unable to produce the new unit, but you can't make the old ones either. They should make it so units obsolete one era later than they normally do.

It is next to impossible to stop raids so the early game is always shit forcing an archery rush since barbars will fuck your slingers up. Basically barbarian raids are op.

I give it a 9. It's realistically an 8 but the way civ5 launched this is an extremely solid foundation to build on when the first DLC/expanion comes. It'll probably reach 10 eventually so I give it a 9 now. Maybe a little fanboy logic but I stand by it.

Why is it impossible for game devs to make pirates make some fucking sense in a game? Like, wtf is the purpose of their existence in an average 4X game? They destroy shit and... what? That's basically it. They don't salvage crap, they don't capture shit, they don't even care who they are attacking as if pirates aren't concerned with getting the shit blown the fuck up because they fucked around with an empire they can't handle just to blow up a ship that is of no value to them and served no purpose to the pirates whatsoever.

Why can't they make pirates like they were. Irritating assholes that are wherever money and valuables are and they don't give two flying fucks about destroying shit for the sake of destruction, but instead want to make a profit out of it. What's the fucking point of having a fleet of bazillion pirate ships if everything you do results in casualties and no income?

I've never seen a pirate faction that makes any fucking sense in a 4X game.

Stellaris' "pirates" or what ever that retarded weak fleet and starbase is that spawn at the beginning of every fucking Stellaris game ever is probably the most redundant and retarded implementation of pirates I have ever seen. Imagine, moving a rifleman onto a tiny little hut in the middle of nowhere and bam! Eight barbarian nuclear missiles spring into existence around your guy, and before you can do anything seven of them scuttle off into the fog of war like cockroaches with the light on and the last one plants itself directly onto your hapless little man's forehead.

I'm a bit confused about how the happiness system works here, I'm used to Civ V's global happiness.

What are the penalties of going wide? How do I decide what's a good location for all my cities? Is it ok to settle as long as it has a new luxury and a fresh water source?

What the fug do I do with like 15 cities? What are the smalll shit cities supposed to do? Do I try to build campus and commerce districts in all of them?
>>
>>158574335
They give faith. Civpedia says what it does, IIRC they're pretty shit, like any other ui
>>
you know what they should add?

historic speed. There were popular mods for it in civ V, however these were prone to crashes.

It basically slowed down science and the timer to epic speed while everything else(production etc.) played as if you were playing on standard.

It was great. Much more use out of UUs, more conflicts, larger armies, more developped empires, basically everything bigger and better, eras feel like real eras too.

It's breddygood. 3 lux is nice. Likely a good spot for a campus under those mountains. Ok spot for an industrial zone beside the two stone. Good spot for a commercial zone south west of the city where the two rivers meet. Plenty of food but might hurt for production later. I'd probably keep some of those forests around, especially adjacent to the rivers.

Why is it that the trade value the AI is willing to offer to you depends on the amount of value you possess in total (not what is on the table, but the total possession).

I had 5 gold and tried to sell a horse to teddy, he didnt want to. Not even the exploit worked.

I then sold one of my units and tried again, now hes willing to offer me a half decent price off the bat and when I do the exploit thing he gives me all he has (note that before even then wouldnt give me anything).

Whats the meaning of this?

Babylon, Egypt and China have Stealth Bombers and Jet Fighters now.

Egypt attacks cities on the western coast though so they just get rekt by SAM.

Not producing units out of all of my cities, but will soon. Also need more engineers so I can start Hillifying the border for a defense bonus.

Civ2 AI goes kinda nuts when they see Battleships and seem to throw all their cruise missiles at it.
Easily exploitable since you can just put an AEGIS cruiser on the same tile and they have double combat strength versus missiles.

I really enjoy start and mid, but by endgame most territory has been claimed and anomalies explored. War at this point is a chore since taking planets needs ground troops and I'm already at max systems anyway.

All I end up doing is teching up for a while getting bored and quit. It's a great game and I really enjoy getting to this point. But what's the endgame? What's the 'Mars project' equivalent? Is there anything like that? It seems like things just reach stasis one the minor wars are over and you are at economic limit for expansion.
