Seb doesn't necessarily have to reconcile with Demetrius, but making him recognize that he's been a piece of shit (voluntarily or not) towards most of his family would be a nice touch.
Maybe make him try to be a better father and husband after you marry Seb and have kids.

I enjoyed Animal Crossing when I was younger, but I've grown up a bit and don't have the time for it. It's pretty cozy. You can go crazy-efficient and get the most rewarding crops, or just raise animals and forage and go at your own pace, and go whatever way. You pick who you befriend, who you marry... it's all in all really cozy. There's not any pressure or rush by the game beyond your own enjoyment. I'd argue the completionist in me enjoys Animal Crossing's bug and fish hunting more, but Stardew adds mining and exploring to part of its charm.

Cozy/10, it's kept me from having an aneurysm in med school.

As someone whose last farm simulator game was Harvest Moon 64, would I enjoy Stardew Valley? Maru isn't much younger than her brother and his father is out of the picture, so it means Demetrius raised Sebastian since he was a child, yet they don't treat each other as such. Demetrius is completely apathetic toward Sebastian, and that was probably how he was all their relationship. Sebastian isn't a lost cause, clearly doesn't have a rotten personality, so this wasn't the cause.

I can see them being mostly neutral and somewhat distant, but I don't think Demetrius is abusive of Sebastian in any way. If you do decide to expand on the mod and have Sebastian meet his biological father and develop a better understanding of Demetrius, please consider adding even just a single line of dialogue saying that the two have acknowledged the tension in their relationship and are working to repair it.

I married Shane because I liked his events and the progression he made as a character was really endearing. I felt like I had helped changed someone's life for the better.

Or, instead of building this in the farm you could repurpose the now closed Jojamart for that. And do not limit this to spouse only. Make it a town wide quest where you have many options, but just one building so you have to choose what to do with it (a school is the only right choice here really)
