If they focus your teammate, Smack a shield on that bitch, get your buffs on the easiest target and start clicking, shatter when Judgement is about to run out or they're getting out of range

If they don't, mostly try and box with the opponents, use shatters a fuckload, you should always have 2 or less and should always take 3 shatters for R1 since it's ALWAYS going to help, while double Wuju only works one time and then just buys you a few seconds to do no damage since you have no shatters.
If someone's easy to hit, Judgement into shatter repeated does a fuck load of damage.
If you need to apply debuffs fast and get to damage, Smack that mo fuggin 1 button

For rites, take mostly debuff oriented rites unless you're against Lucie or someone with easy purges, then you can do mostly the same but take Energy instead of Synergy

Everyone I fight these days just goes ham on my teammate, knowing that I can't out damage them straight on. Since my teammate is busy running away, they usually don't turn for half a second for a coordinated orb effort and we lose it. Even when I bait the enemy to weaken the orb for me, fucking Croak has the fastest burst of 10 DMG wow. No energy, less incaps, harder to peel. Fucking lose.

Though I will say this: For almost every character you should be routinely using your EX moves. They are far more important than your ultimate except in the case of Taya. I still get a staggering amount of players (especially Ashka) whom refuse to use their energy except for whiffing their ultimates.

Uh, I disagree. The problem with the current rating system is that it cockblocks you from queuing 3s. Youre forced to play 2s. Now theres the first problem: plenty of competitive players dont even acknowledge 2s as a proper bracket. Because of that many simply solo queue and fuck around in it. The second issue is character viability and strength. Due to certain chars being so much stronger in 2s, some people cant play their mains and therefore will never be able to carry in a proper manner. This isnt a MOBA where youre expected to master every single char of a role. In this game you actually need to invest some serious time to get good at playing something. The problem with the current "competitiveness" of the leaderboard is that it forces you to ALWAYS tryhard 2s without EVER giving you the opportunity to just have fun on your own terms. If you want to just play the game you cant, because doing so might result in a loss which will make you lose the points your gained from 10 wins. So the competitiveness of the ladder really comes down to 1) who has the most autistic team mate and 2) who never wants to try out new stuff.

Let me make it simple for you two. There is no blueprint for Ivas Battlerites. There is no "pick this and be good". You Battlerites change depending on team compositions. I will give you examples after my match.

Don't bother chasing so you can melee form, only m1 if they're in your face. ALWAYS use your e or EX e on atleast 1 person and R to block damage when they're next to you and space is down.

Alright peasants, here we go.

Melee + Ranged DPS vs 2 Ranged chars. What do you pick turn 1? Depending on the matchup U-Turn (if you expect that they will focus you, usually is the case with Ashka or Jade/Croak DUOs) or Tazer (if the enemy team stands close together, like Varesh + Healer, however if its Ashka + Healer then Tazer makes little sense)

Melee + Ranged DPS vs 2 Melee chars. Depending on their composition all Battlerites have their use. Getting Knockback on Zap can help against shit like Sirius + X and safe lives more often than not. Tazer CAN be good, but if the enemy team runs a double counter lineup (Shifu + Sirius) then you will probably not go for it because the Tazer jump procs counters. U-Turn can be good against things like Sirius and Croak because you can avoid CC chains. If Croak goes stealth you can let him "bait" your first jump and then react accordingly or use it to avoid Moonstone etc.

You are on a Healer + DPS against 2 ranged chars. Same as above. However, Zap is useless in this case.

You are on a Healer + DPS against ranged + melee chars. See example two. Zap knockback is underrated and really damn useful against all melees apart from maybe Freya. Range melee also makes Tazer jumps less likely, so its a stretch hoping for them. U-Turn is often overkill when you have a healer on your side.

And thats just examples for Turn 1 Battlerites. Turn 2 is less situational because MS is usually the optimal choice. Shield can be good in 3s. Dual Rockets are almost always trash. Should only go for them if the enemy can literally no burst potential and you can exploit range.

Turn 3 is usually Hyperspeed because it gives you burst, something Iva is lacking. Healing on Tazer is only good if you have jump. Rocket is fucking garbage, NEVER pick it.

Turn4 is completely situational. Anything can be good.

For reference: I have 2 Iva accounts above 4500 (one excl. solo)

I wanted 3s at first like most people but BR was designed for 2s to be the main bracket and the game just looks, feels and play out so much smoother and cleaner as a 2v2. Casters can hardly keep up with the 3v3 matches it's almost a constant split between two fights. Plus it's a mess trying to find a 3rd teammate, so much simpler to just grab one buddy and hop into a match or tournament.

Played plenty of 3s in BR and plenty of 3s in BLC as well as WoW, countless hours actually.

2s is the more pleasurable bracket in this game, BR wasn't made for 3s to be the main team size and it shows. I think people are stuck on 3s just because of tradition not because of game balance. I wanted 3s as well when I first got into the beta but now playing through early access, I think 2s are better for the game and community.

There are certain characters WHO CAN NOT COMPETE in 2s and they will never be able to do so unless they are reworked from group up.

If this game was truly made with 2s in mind (which by the way is questionable because we shoved so many 3s balancing changes down their throat when we tested the game in the private servers) then they did a horrendous job. Right now the game isnt balanced around shit, so dont tell me that you FEEL that its made for 2s. The only thing that gives you that feeling are some of the tiny ass maps. Yeah 5 or 6 years ago. New ideas about game balance have arrived, and what they did make was fair. You don't need odd number teams for it to be balanced.
Current tournament participation seems to be heading in favor of 2s any way.

What champion can't compete in 2s? Rook? Slow ass Varesh? Maybe Sirius? Those are character design flaws not anything that has to do with balance based on team size. And having the game be clean enough to be spectator friendly is an important to the success of the game. 3s don't provide that currently and changing the map size definitely won't help it either.

Shifu and Baako are so far ahead of Freya and Croak as well, no point in touching either. Croak might still the best to solo carry. But theres a gigantic difference between playing Croak vs solo and vs high level stacks. Hes just fucked in 2s.

Finally getting the hang of Varesh.

The Ranged description really doesn't accurately describe him imo. He's almost good enough to be considered support with his shield, and debuffing. 15% reduced damage, healing, and 15% increased damage taken is actually really strong if you can keep the debuffs up.


His EX1 is really good for this.

Only thing spooky about him is that his counter may actually fuck him over more than it helps him sometimes. If you counter a ranged enemy, god help you, as your probably going to land in the middle of your enemies, and have to burn your R to get out.

In BLC Varesh used to be a tank and somewhat retains those pros/cons with a few twists. That's why playing him as ranged feels weird.

He's slow as fuck but can take a few hits if his debuffs are on-target.

What I noticed players doing is triggering your counter to pull you out of the match and focus your partner because you have no way of catching up without R. Sometimes it'd best to just east it or try to dodge.

R also has a long animation and you're invulnerable during it.
