Basically there was a massive backlash against the game and the creative director because the fanbase felt like Alisha was a main character, when in the actual game she is only there for a little while before fucking off.

The situation differs a lot because Alisha was one of the first characters marketed. And while they tried to pull the "she was always meant to be a small role" excuse people noted in some footage released that she was part of the party in late game moments.

That along with the fact that the director's waifu VA was apparently cast a full year after the others, and her character had a major (and some say hamfisted) role made the situation even worse.

At least that's how I remember it off the top of my head. There is more detailed info about that shitshow lurking around.

She was literally advertised as the primary heroine. Goro was barely advertised before release, he's only popular because of fujoshits and memers after the leaks came out. But for now it's not close.

Yeah, this. Atlus did what they should've when promoting Goro. He had minimal exposure, no PV, they refused to even confirm his party status because they didn't want to fuck people over.

Normal seems a bit too easy, especially if you already played P3 and P4. Hard mode doesn't change anything about the EXP and money you get, it just make fight harder, so it is the most balanced difficulty which will make you use the full options and strategy available in the game
Challenge mode is unlocked after clearing the game once and it cuts your EXP and money by half, forcing you to grind

It was pretty easy I don't think I died maybe more than 3 times the entire run.
It's the same as any SMT. Once you get good moves everything becomes trivial, buff/debuff and party heal.
