I've a quick question about 11.0 downgrades.
I've backed up most of the save data I want using JK's Save Manager successfully, but there's something I'm not clear on.

From what I can tell, StreetPass Mii Plaza and Mii Maker use System Saves as opposed to saves used for game cards and digital titles.
Is it possible to extract these System Saves when using JKSM as a .3dsx instead of a CIA?

I want to be able to keep my StreetPass Mii Plaza and Mii Maker saves when I format my N3DS XL as part of the downgrade process.

game reads as 1.00 in the VPK and vitamin. Can still accept updates. This is LIKELY due to a function that all Sony games have in place regardless of version the game is. Was introduced with the PS3.

If you ran the E3 build of Motorstorm Pacific Rift (70% build) it would try updating because an update was available for said title ID even if it's not actually intended to be updated that way

Latest Luma3DS update allows you to change the version title display when viewed on the System Settings.

You can manually do it with txt files but a CIA is out there to do it for you.

I'm pretty sure hardbricking with wrong downgrade files isn't possible with the currrent downgrading methods since they check everything, AND downgrading with the wrong files should give a black screen instead since your NAND is still "valid", which is not the case for a blue screen. I don't think it's even possible to get a non-hardmod blue screen unless you use Gateway or intentionally corrupt your NAND through other methods.

I'm under the impression that if we could launch homebrew on the DSi we could potentially edit the save, unless that assumption is just completely fucking wrong. If we were able to, then anyone could literally buy a beaten DSi, download the save and hack, but that's all assuming you're too dumb to hardmod yourself and it's cheaper to do that for some reason then to send it off to someone who can, or find someone who already has cfw.

I'm fairly certain it just plain doesn't check DSiware saves to see if they've been compromised. Last time I did the downgrade with DSiware it dumped the DSiware to the SD card, and I had to physically transfer the SD card to the target system in order to complete the downgrade. If I had to take a guess, it'd be because MSET doesn't have Arm9 permissions to verify the contents of the DSiware saves, only that they're signed and valid titles on the system. I'm not even sure that Nintendo has a good way to verify that the saves haven't been tampered with.

I've been trying to modify some files, namely textures.

I unpack the file. Make one texture modification to test. Then I repack everything else. (so around 600mb romfs)

I then put the file inside a folder (hans) and name it <id>.romfs

However, when I try to launch the game it just hang on a red. What's up with that?

I also can't seem to access the config panel whenever I go through hans.

It's worth noting that unless you're installing random shit/community stuff you can't find on freeshop or can't use it, there's not a good reason to be manually installing with FBI/Devmenu. CIAs getting corrupted when transferred can actually fail installation as well and isn't much faster than downloading if you have anything better than dial-up. At least when you download with Freeshop you have the benefit of TCP adding some safeguards against data corruption.

We could spend less time for an 9.2 sysNAND + up to date emuNAND setup instead (which is pretty much instant to set up).

However, that means:
a. you'll be getting to emuNAND from userland. So far, it's proven an impossible task to have a 100% reliable userland exploit on 9.0-9.2, meaning sometimes you'll fail to boot,
b. the booting procedure will take longer because you need to boot sysNAND first to reach emuNAND,
c. you sacrifice some future-proofing by forgoing arm9loaderhax, which allows you to unbrick yourself if you fuck up your CTRNAND,
d. you're tied to your SD card to hold the emuNAND,
e. while the security itself may be mostly a joke in terms of getting in, the security that causes inconveniences (such as ticket signature verification on launch) is very much there and requires being patched out every boot,
f. unlike Henkaku, which is fairly new, a lot of versions have happened since 9.2, so that the system software on 9.2 actually can't handle new titles and the eShop servers.

The equivalent to a Vita with 3.60, HENkaku and MolecularShell is a 3DS with 9.2, Pasta and FBI.

If you just want to use that garbage on your 3DS, it's as quick and easy to set up as its Vita equivalent is.

But we have the opportunity to exercise more control over the 3DS, and it's a stupid idea not to.
