I mean, you could if you really wanted to. I personally trained a 100% Charizard to 30 but that's only because I like Charizard. But I think you're better off waiting at least until the late 20s when you start encountering lvl 28-30 Pokemon and only if they have good moves. I didn't spend any stardust because very early on, /vg/ let people know that wild CP scaled all the way up to 30. Basically, do this:

>once you hit 28, you can do 4 upgrades to get them to 30

Literally all you have to do. I know it sucks if you wanna get high CP immediately but there's no point in rushing and blowing all your stardust on a Pokemon you'll find in the wild later, specially if you're not buying incubators for more stardust surplus.

Yes before this, but Weakness / resistance isn't 2x and 0.5x in Pokemon Go. If a move has STAB (Lapras Frost Breath for example) and the opponent is 4x weak to it (Dragonite), the move will be 1.95x more powerful than it was at the base.

If the opponent was 4x weak to ground and neutral to water (Magneton), then Mud Shot is 50.56% as effective as Bubble.

Somehow, I don't think it's possible to find a single matchup where Mud Shot would be better for a defending Poliwrath than Bubble.

I just farm a lot of Pokemon. There are about 10-12 spawn points near my desk at work, and one stop that I keep spinning. I really don't have to try to get 10k+ dust a day.

I started botting yesterday. My town has all of 2 gyms, controlled by 1600+ rares, where the average level of players is like 10. The ONLY thing that spawns here are pidgeys and weedles, and very rarely at that. We also have very few pokestops. I've walked 681 km and hatched 709 eggs. I have never seen a wild Grimer, and currently have 46 Grimer candies. That comes out to 0.065 candies per egg or about 0.068 candies per km. Compare that to the Buddy system, which comes out to 0.333 candies per km. The Buddy system gets you candy at roughly five times the rate that hatching does.

Now, that's just an anecdote, and much more data would be necessary before arriving at an actual multiplier, but still.

Going full crazy with RNG feels more rewarding, just consider the amount of walking you need for some mons, I already have 50 grimmer candy and most of that came from 2 eggs.
Look at kabuto and omanyte for example.
Who knows maybe the next egg you hatch gives you 20 candies and will make you feel like walking with your mon was kinda useless.

What you're using here is 46 Grimer candy per all eggs hatched.

So in your case the buddy system gets you more candy if going for a specific mon, but it doesn't compare to eggs in general.

It's not like the buddy system stops you from hatching eggs at the same time. It's just additional incentive to go walking, and it's good for pokemon that are hard to get candy for like dratini. There's a good chance the system was built in anticipation of legendaries, since we'll probably be limited to 1 catch.

Assuming you have 80% IV and a good moveset powering up a mon to 30 doesn't feel that expensive.
It costs something like 32k stardust and 30 candy to power up a mon from level 20 to 25.
And it costs something like 75k stardust and 68 candy to powerup from 20 to 30.
It's way more cheap than powering from 28 to 40 where there is a crazy as fuck of stardust amount to reach 40 which isn't really worth it imo.
So if you are 30 and plan on powering up to 40, I suggest you start the hunt for another moveset you like and good IV for powering up to 30 instead of trying to power up to 40. CP wise is not even worth it.

Just catch pokemons and activate lucky egg when you have around 400 pidgey candy, appropriate number of pidgeys and a few other evolutions. It doesn't take more than 2-3 of these to level up, and that is discounting all the XP made from just catching mons and spinning stops.

One downside with jailbreaking is that it messes with your verification so it can be easy to detect if you have a jailbroken phone. Apple probably has a developer system in place where they can see if a device is jailbroken or not. I disagree, not only does it confer a ton of resistances that makes it a brawler with lasting power and a decent defender, it's one of only two types that is super effective against fairy, the other being poison which doesn't have a ton of great pokemons nor moves, and it's super effective against ice which isn't all that common a thing either.

Most people rather roll with stone edge instead, they are both very close DPS wise.
Rock is good against ice but the only ice mon you need to worry is lapras and you are going to need some good shit to take him down anyway.
