A Pokemon has its own power up level counter. That's the white bar that scrolls across the top.

Evolutions don't affect the bar.

So you can have like a 15 CP Pidgeot at lv 1, and then power it to either lv 40 or 1.5 levels higher than your current trainer level.
And also some 300 CP Caterpie that is basically at your trainer level cap.

Gyms have started to stabilise in my area where the high level gyms stay high level and nobody puts in the effort to take them down if they're not in the middle of a college campus or something.

I use the first letters of the primary move and charge move.

e.g. Karate Chop + Fire Blast Magmar = "KB 15/15/14"

Note that I use B instead of F, it's because of Flamethrower. There are six combinations max, it's not that hard to come up with a scheme to assign an obvious letter or two per attack on a Pokemon.

Game can get stuck in a loop where it can't reconnect due to a bug. Starting the journal just sends a new connection request, though it doesn't always work. Turning your phone's airplane mode on and off does the same thing.

It's associated with the game's tracker due to the reddit poster who was elaborating on why the game won't track distance properly. One of the main reasons is that the game disconnects and is unable to reconnect for a while, if at all. So zero tracking is done during that period.

Clicking on the journal helps minimize the dc period, but it does not actually update the distance tracker on its own.

There's a gym I see from my house that's on some huge villa, but you can't go inside (private property) and it's under constant battle among all three teams

Did you miss the part about how gyms here are basically unkillable? I run out of revives trying to take them out most times since they're all stacked with Pokemon 15~ levels above my best, and even if I do get one, a spoofed claims it again in minutes. I can either buy coins or hope for lucky eggs from pokestops. I've hit ~2. 5k pokestops and don't remember ever getting a lucky egg so far.

Lucky Eggs don't drop from Pokestops, you'll have to get them from gym coins.

Thing is though, even if the gyms are stacked with spoofers and shit, at lv 20, you should be able to construct a decent battling team even with just an Eeveelution or two. I started around 20 with just one Vaporeon and had a decent time until the Laprases started showing up all over by then I already started collecting other battlers like Jolteons.

Maybe you can't farm Star Dust as well as I can since you said you are in a small town but if you actually want to get into battling, your best bet is to farm Star Dusts more than anything on actually good battlers. If you want to save your Star Dusts too until you hit 30, well you're going to have to be patient on 10 coins a day then.

You'll need about ~20 Lucky Eggs to go from 20 to 30 anyway so it'll be a while.

Report everyone in those gyms who is obviously a botter or spoofer, like level 34+, or with several iterations of the same name. They might not get booted for months, and even if they do, they might be back. Ignore those gyms for a while.

DO keep hitting pokestops. 100 hours of playtime is actually not bad for level 30. DO find other members of your team (to help you burn down gyms or level big ones), and even if you can't find people, travel elsewhere for gyms, and if you can, go to a downtown area or a nice tight cluster of stops. 2 or 3 stops give you the xp of one catch, and can be quicker (and guaranteed), plus you get stuff. Stops are more reliable than hunting if you have enough of them close together.

If you don't know where a cluster like this is, look at the Ingress map, then use a scanner in the area which shows gyms and stops, or check out a local fb group. This is the only reason I use fb, for finding out about local nests and hotspots.

Or, you know, just quit this terrible game.

My city is a college town so most of the players here are Mystic because

But just that alone isn't actually what's making me salty. I expected something like a specific team being an overwhelming majority to happen so I knew full well of what I was in for when I picked my team.

No, the thing that actually makes me salty are all the fucking spoofers grabbing gyms 24/7 on auto-pilot. There are a lot of church and park gyms in the middle of fucking nowhere here out of the range of cars so I am capable of just standing on a bench with a 360 degree view of fucking nothing and this lv 18 faggot takes over my gym and drops in a 1500 CP Dragonite or some shit during my 4am gym run, just to give an example.

It is basically impossible to have a non-Mystic gym up for more than 5 minutes without some kid immediately attacking it. As far as I can tell, most non-Mystic players have given up fighting so the city is basically mostly lv 10 Mystic gyms every fucking where except like, the ghettos. I don't know why the Mystic fags leave the ghettos alone when they have zero problems spoofing but I guess they're trying to avoid getting banned or something by sticking to some arbitrary radius from their college dorms or something. The ghettos are like the few bastions of lv 3-10 Valor and Instinct gyms so I have a couple high CP dudes parked in them for +10-+20 coins a day. But they're not safe 100% either, every couple weeks, there's some Mystic campaign kicking everyone out of the gyms and since nobody goes out to the ghettos or plays there, it takes a week or two for somebody to kick them out. I can't go out there every day because I'm usually busy at work and the ghettos are like 30+ minutes in the opposite direction of work.

I really need something that can tear down Exeggutor, around 1700CP with zen headbutt & psychic. My only Arcanine wound up with bite & bulldoze, so yay me. Flareon is my only other fire type, but at least he's got fire blast despite him being slow as shit. I've got a Slowbro with water gun & ice beam. Or I've got a scyther with steel wing & bug buzz. I tried using a Gyardos with bite and hydro pump, but psychic still ripped it apart. So what's my best bet here for taking on this Exeggutor 1v1?
