Well there's only 2 colors in it. There's no rivers themselves in the file, just land and ocean. I didn't touch topology and it's just 1.28MB and it's index, and Terrain is just over 2MB while Index with many more colors.

If you want you could upload the whole thing so I can test myself. I also found a stray grey pixel between the boot and sicily in the provinces.bmp, so that might explain why it thinks max_provinces is 5 instead of 4

Grand strategy is the whitest video game genre because racism is the norm and shitskins are kept in check.

Only Europe is properly civilized and developed in most games, while most other non-white shitskin regions are considered to be "uncivilized" by the game, and thus get all sorts of penalties. Or maybe they just start out with lesser tech and literacy which is historical and right as well.

Meanwhile other games such as Total War and Civilization have total equality for all races and cultures, which makes them pro-shitskin. There's no way Native Americans or Zulu niggers would be able to compete and keep up with white and based Europeans.

What's the best small kingdom in CK2? If I'm centralised and have good stewardship to let me hold 2-3 duchies by my own is there a decent spot that will me be an independent kingdom but still strong enough to stand up against a Jihad, the HRE etc?

I'm thinking of Frisia since the area has a bunch of counties with many holding slots (Brugge comes to mind) but I was wondering if there were other more interesting spots.

How do you use Strategic bombers? I've given them strategic bombing missions over the Rhineland but they just bomb the same city over and over again, even when all of the infrastructure and IC is damaged and there are plenty of other juicy targets within the mission zone.

So after a lot of fiddling around and not getting it to work at all, I did some reading and found a wide range of issues people had, from not removing everything related to non-existing provinces in other folders, to not having at least 1 river in rivers.bmp, to not saving any of the map files properly, to not having at least one COT somewhere in the history files, to not having a map size divisible by 8, to not editing gfx files for a different map size, to having too big or too many provinces, to having to small or too few provinces, and a bunch of other things.

So I really don't know exactly what the issue is. There may be a lot more to it than initially thought. If you want to read a bit too here's what I was looking at and maybe you can try some of the suggestions. Good luck, you'll need it.

Reminder that if you're playing as Austria in HPM, never, EVER blob into anything else in Europe because you already start with pretty borders and enough land.

Don't blob into other German lands, don't bother with any of that South German Federation bullshit. You can let Germany form and have good relations with them and they won't bother you over any core conflicts because they don't exist.

Avoid fighting wars with neighboring European countries because again, no big countries other than Italy have cores on you. Keep Serbia and Romania in check.

However, secure your Italian lands and preferably prevent the unification of Italy.

Overseas colonies are fine, however. Preferably just anything with rubber and oil, there should be plenty of colonial migration later on.
