Oh yeah, this too. Some Pokemon like Growlithe, Slowpoke, Dratini, Exeggcute, Gyarados and Vaporeon have ridiculous scaling. But CP is just a meme anyway. I put my 3000 Dragonite on a gym the other day and it can be killed by a 1100 Lapras, 1300 Golduck, 1400 Clefable, 1300 Wiggly and so on.

Scanners are sort of at war with each other for that. Some of them try to lessen the load by funneling requests to other scanners even though they ask them not to, and then the scanners quit or die from the increased load while the ones funneling requests keep collecting ad bucks for their own scanners.

what makes you guys say hyper beam is better?
hyper beam is great, but its by no means outright better than body slam

hyper beam takes a full 5 seconds to cast, which leaves you open to at least 2 standard attacks from the enemy, as well as possibly their charge move with no option of dodging it
body slam has only a 1.56 second cooldown, which means you can use it inbetween the enemies fast attacks already, not to mention that its a 50 energy move as opposed to 100 energy on hyper beam

don't get me wrong, hyper beam is a really good move, but its up to playstyle preference on which one is better for you
you can't directly compare them in such a binary manner

Hyper Beam actually does something, Body Slam isn't even worth using when you can just spam more fast moves. I say that as a guy who uses half a dozen different Snorlaxes to knock over gyms.

the gyms themselves have been mystic for at least 4 days or so

It's the other way around and depends on environment in my experience.

GPS-only is good pretty much anywhere, but if you want lots of random walking and drift, you turn on wifi and mobile networks because 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals do a shit job of going through walls so the phone thinks you're teleporting around. Also having a shitty router that drops packets frequently helps.

Also if you're standing next to an actual cell tower, the phone's just not going to understand what the fuck is happening because the sheer signal strength from the close proximity is making it fly all over the place.

Whenever I need a few minutes to take a gym and not get Error'd out because of fucking GPS drift, I set it to GPS-only. When I'm done, I turn on wifi+mobile networks back on.

The "refinement" is shit because it's not a refinement, it tries to guess where the nodes are and then prioritises non-GPS signals for triangulation. And it is made worse by things like bad nodes making the device look like it's moving around relative to said nodes when it's not.

I have no problems with GPS-only mode. Short of going into long tunnels embedded deep into a mountain, I never lose signal and I see effectively little to no drift. When the other shit is on, I can walk through a 2 inch thick stone arch in the middle of an open field the game jumps at the opportunity to tell me that I shouldn't play while driving.

Stupid use of 'meme' aside you are both correct. Better IVs will give better stats but the practical difference is so small that the effort/reward ratio for getting 95%ers is ridiculously low. Anything in the appraisal top tier (>82%) is more than good enough. In the scale of things to worry about they fall far below move set as well.

Has less than 10% catch rate base at that level, m8. Starters have an abyssmal catch rate to the point it's almost not worth trying to catch evolved ones unless they have max CP or close to it for your level.

But yeah, a 2500 Snorlax ran away from me even though my last 2 throws were berry'd ultra ball excellent throws. High lvl pokemon just have really low rates.

Cant look at DPS for defenders since they attack at specific intervals, have to look at damage output factoring in how often specials are used

Full 100 energy on water pulses = 175 damage with STAB
One Hydropump = 112.5 STAB
Two Aquatails = 112.5 STAB

As a defender you're basically losing out on one attack per extra special attacks so with that in mind

Water Pulse = 175 net damage
Hydro Pump = 135 net damage
Aqua Tail = 127.5 net damage

Math isnt perfect since I'm rounding but even if you make it 2 waterguns per special attack used you still come out on top with aquatail
