I'm playing with the latest version of HPM as greece, I chose the option at the beginning where you can only start a crisis after 1870 and having researching revolution and counterrevolution. by 1890, my population was doubling every 5 years. by 1900, my population was doubling every 2 years. due to my number 1 rating and my incomprehensibly large population, i would consume 100% of the world market. the economy was broken beyond redemption, all production in the world stopped because of all industries failed (even liquor), while rebels roamed the land. the world eventually become underpopulated.

but not me. i practically became a self sustaining cancer. until i could no longer self sustain. even with all farm output tech, my population demanded 5 times more food than the world production. 80% of my population was unemployed since they reproduced faster than i could build factories.

eventually rebellions broke out. tens of millions of asian rebels killing each other again and again. i thought this would save me, but no, pops were still reproducing faster than soldiers died. ended up ragequitting.

some things hip has over ck2+ that I noticed:
+more beautiful map, more provinces in Europe
+unreformed pagans can feudalize
+faster access to feudalism for tribals
+tanistry is available for any feudal
+protected council appointments only affect present and future powerful vassals and give a permanent opinion boost for them if they're in the council.
+pledge peace goal: forfeit offensive wars for a levy and opinion boost from all vassals, can break if necessary in exchange for penalties
+now with 2.6.1.1 agnatic is the default gender law for all new vassals you make, from what I understand, which should prevent land loss odds if your vassals don't spawn a male heir.
+quick and genius traits are inheritable in HIP as they are in vanilla, not so in ck2+

Also, with either mod, be sure to mod out the nigger enrichment event for merchant republics that swedecuckdox has introduced (republic_trade_events)

After that, you are pretty much set. The only meaningful threat early on are the Saffarids, but they get cucked pretty quickly due to their different religion from their neighbors (Kharijite). The Abbasids shouldn't ever pose a problem since they usually collapse within the first decade or two. It's pretty easy sailing after that.
