Update to 3.60 manually, check the pastebin for that.

Then go to Henkaku.xyz from your vita.

Its done. Now download games, change the file type of said games to MP4 so you can copy them through content manager + QCMA which should already be in your PC after doing the manual 3.60 update, go to molecular shell ux0(your memory card)/videos, find the MP4, rename the file type to VPK and install.

Done. Wrote these very sloppily so just take them step by step and you'll be fine. If at any time one of those steps isn't working, just try again until it works. Only part that can fuck you up is the manual update so make sure to follow the guide to the letter, if anything doesn't agree with what it says redo it until it does.

Anyway, I finished up Plailect's guide yesterday and can install and play .cia files now. Is it safe to update games so I can go online and the system itself? I don't wanna patch anything or mess anything up.

You don't sound paranoid/educated enough to be clean with just that. There's also pirated trophies and who knows what. Besides, nobody has been banned yet so we don't know what triggers the banhammer (although we can make educated guesses by looking at a PS3).
I'd only consider a fresh formatted Vita with a fresh formatted memcard to be safe for going online after playing pirated games, with PSN acc linking made on the first time setup screen & activation performed via PS3 transfer, maximum paranoid mode.
