Because horse archer AI is garbage and lancers are woefully unsuited for siege warfare. Additionally, they don't have access to any dedicated foot soldiers which any true steppe empire that had conquered a sedentary people would have access to if they took an active interest in governing.

If you use anons rebalance / more items submod then norse have best infantry, either anglos or saxons have best polearm infantry, britons have best archers, i think picts have best horsemen and the irish have best skirmishers

I've been having some success basically using spearmen as the anvil and infantry as the hammer. Spearmen actually fight better in formation, and infantry are a lot better when told to charge in VC.

Some archers too since they're super easy to train, I wouldn't really bother with cavalry desu.

Currently playing as Wessex and damn near everyone has declared war due to fearing our growth.

Oh, and make sure to have troops holding fire until the enemy is pretty close or they'll waste all the javelins and stuff.

Is there any way to make your character stay still when you're customizing his face?
