The bottleneck in Warband was always CPU and managing all the game agents.

XP rates for the player, companions, and troops goes something like this: x1, x2, x2. You can change that to native numbers through the module.ini.

Also, the most basic troop for most troop trees starts at level 12 (level 15 for Frisian). The trainer skill only works when you are at the same level or above, so you need to be level 12 before you can use trainer on your basic troops, meaning you need to level them normally through battle. There's also the fact that the trainer skill is maxed at level 5, so at best you can provide 30 xp for each troop or something.

Also, vikingr are good for fighting. Masterless Men are decent enough to fight at lower levels.

They're typically just around. You'll probably never see them in Danmark and Frisia. You can find some Swedish vikingr around the waters of that Norway faction, and I tend to find regular and Danish vikingr around Cornubia territory, Northumbria territory, and around Aileach territory.

Well, that explains the damage. Throwing weapons are rather powerful anyway, and most mods (don't remember if Native also has them as such) flag them to do bonus damage against shields.

Anyway, you don't really need Ironflesh in most mods because it hardly makes any difference (unless it does more than just raw HP, like Silverstag, or the skill tree is narrowed so you don't have a lot to invest on anyway, like Warwolf) and, unless it's one of those bullshit mods where you fight troops that surpass 100 HP, you don't really need to invest much in Strenght to begin with.

I heard campaign AI affects it, so you could lower that difficulty setting like a bitch to save some shekels, unless those anons were lying.

I'm playing Viking Conquest, and I'm surprised at how good the story is.
I've just finished the Assembly and killed Reginhard, it's amazing how much characterizarion and roleplaying they managed to fit in fucking M&B, pretty much no other mod has a plot beyond the tutorial quest.

The actual gameplay of the quests sucks though. They could have made more missions like those in the farmstead, instead of sending you to Ireland as a delivery boy every hour.

i don't understand this game. i'm stuck. i always get a crew of 35 decent fighters, and then what? i can't expand into a single more unit, and all the cool armies have 80+, so it's impossible to take a castle, or go looting town after town, or do anything fun. eventually im found by someone more powerful, i lose members, and i have to start all over again until i hit 35... again.

yes, i've already made a few minor changes since the last patch (changed a few troop names because "veteran elite" was really getting my autism riled up, fixed the english musketeer troop tree upgrade line) and there's not really that much else i can think of to tweak
the main things were getting new textures for some weapons for mastercrafted versions but i can't texture at all, and make a longbowman unit for england for the novelty of it

i'm setting tribal items to have a base price between 500 to 2000 depending on the item, and the game reduces weapons/armor sold to 1/20th of base, 1/10th with 10 trade iirc
which means it'll be better than before but not gamebreaking

They even re-did the entire module system to make it easier for people to mod.

I think the change to a "The Elder Scrolls" module system is pretty smart.

A modular system would allow for far more personal control. I'd be able to finally play the dream game I've always wanted with a modular system. A goddamn Teutonic tyrannosaurus knight fighting some pagan Slav on a war mammoth.
