OWCS only takes 2 hits to trigger the bonus, meaning that a single L1 triggers it and the followup L1 benefits from it, but it's still only benefiting from a 7.5% boost that disappears right afterwards anyways. Those effects are all useless in pvp unless the other guy is letting you wail on them, at which point you don't need the effect anyways.

Why do I keep crashing at the Anor Londo front steps? No issues whatsoever anywhere else in the game, but half the time I start going up those my compy just screams and dies.

There is none.
You don't derive any benefit from equipping the covenant icon. It gives you the title "Rosaria's Finger" but doesn't change the colour of your phantom, change your matchmaking rules or change the rewards you receive. The only effect that equipping the icon has is the title that appears above your name.

It's pretty stupid. The only reason to even "join" the covenant and accept that little junk item is because doing it once unlocks Rosaria's NPC functions (none of which require the use of the covenant)

Fume Knight can be pretty hard if you're used to bosses chaining their attacks predictably, but he's still a fair challenge. Alonne is really damn fun but not as hard as Raime, the only problem comes from actually running the gauntlet to get to him (which is why you summon the two phantoms to tank for you).

Blue Smelter Demon is obnoxious and full of fake difficulty, and the co-op level you run through to get to him is stupid as all hell too. Still nowhere near as bad as the gank squad or Frigid Outskirts though.

And then there's the mandatory run through the level while getting sniped and slowed by those fuckers with no way to retaliate except by summoning actual friends.

I'd forgive them if the gauntlet wasn't so obnoxious, and if the Smelter Demon had an actual different moveset rather than relying on fucking people over with different attack timings purposely designed to catch people who roll based on the first Smelter Demon's attacks. If you're leveling through a pve playthrough, you want to balance offensive stats and vigor as you go. Generally speaking, minimum stats to wield your weapon and then rush vigor to 20 and END to 15 because scaling offers almost nothing earlygame when your upgrade level is low.
After squaring vigor and endurance away, you start working on str/dex, and aim roughly for 20str/30dex. Scaling gives its best returns from 20-30 and 2H a weapon with 20str gives you the same bonus as 30str 1H. After effective 30/30, you go back to focusing on vigor to ensure you have enough HP for endgame.

What's a good greatsword for PvE?
I'm using a +6 Claymore right now, but I'm eyeing the Profaned Greatsword and Astora Greatsword.

I know that the longsword trumps all (or so I've been told) but I like greatswords because of the range that comes with them.

Even for a sorcerer, it provides the benefit of over 5 vit levels (except defense) so it's technically a balanced ring. The problem is that vit is too weak of a stat.
