Alonne, for some of the praise I heard his get is literally "roll away from the tiny hitbox katana and poke him, rinse, repeat"
The biggest issue is running to him without getting buttfucked by all the sanic speed knights. His fight, while much fairer than Fume Knight, didnt really leave a lasting impression on me.

Fume Knight is just over saturated with HP, damage, and a shitty thrusting attack hitbox. A slip up against him is much more punishing than one against Alonne.

I got fucked by his stab attack a few times. Apparently, the rear end of the hilt still counts as part of the stab hit box and will teleport you to the tip of the sword.

He is also a bit tougher because he attacks constantly and stamina takes forever to regen in DaS2.

It's pretty different when compared to Fume which is a great boss but almost drove me mad when I tried to beat him the first time since it's really hard for me to roll in the right direction to dodge some of his attacksI'm left handed so I roll along with his flame swipe, instead of rolling out of it

I honestly found Alonne to be very forgiving when I fought him. Granted, he never really pressed the attack against me. It was mostly dashing in with a stab, maybe slashing once, and then backing off. That, combined with a Chloranthy Ring gave me all the time I needed to regen stamina, but healing had to be timed right so he wouldnt just immediately stab me. I think I only ever got his by his self-buffing stab attack once, which actually made the fight a lot more interesting since it lasts so long. It was almost like fighting Artorias in some ways, only his moveset was way less varied and much less agressive. A shame that he actually has to hit you to get buffed, and doesnt self buff himself at low health to gain the increased damage, range extension, and Velstadt-tier damage reduction.

Att only if you want to uses spells. Vit is mostly pointless. You shouldn't need to raise it unless you want to wear a heavier set of armor for purely cosmetic reasons. There is no real reason to wear heavier armor in terms of gameplay.

Vitality soft caps at 27. Get that. Endurance depends on your weapon.
Attunement is still for spells unless you're using your arts a ton. Get enough for the slots you want and stop.
Vitality depends on what you want to wear. Get exactly as much you need to wear your gear as close to 70% as you can get and stop. There is literally no difference between 25% and 70% weight.

Been running around with the 15 faith miracles for awhile.
Tears is badass. You can get to a bonfire, cast it, and rest again. It's a free undershirt. It's to bad the droning chime is so annoying.
Blessed weapon is either complete trash or decent enough, depending on your weapon. Slow and strong is good, fast and weak is don't even bother.
Magic barrier is surprisingly good, but there's not to much dangerous magic in this game.
Replenishment is depressingly weak.
Never bothered with med heal, seek guidance, or caressing tears.

It's not super great, but it's fine enough.

Just nail them with flame swathe a few times to start, use the benches for cover if you need too. The just back stab the healers a few times. Magus is just a joke once he is alone.

As long as you aren't using a super slow weapon, you should breeze through it. The first time you fight him you might die if you get blocked in because you don't know what to expect, but after that, there really isn't any reason you should lose to them.

Early on, yes, the pvp was shit. I don't know when they fixed it, but I started playing again with scholar and most od the real cancer was gone. Things like the rice rapier were OP but you could always work around them, not like DaS3 where reactive play and spacing is all that matters.

The whole reason I never used any greatbows in any of the games was because the arrows were so fucking expensive, you're basically losing souls every time you want to kill something (even worse in DaS2 since it eats up a shitload of SM), and a regular bow is just more cost-effective. Also doesn't help that there aren't many situations where a greatbow comes in handy, any enemies you could kill with a greatbow without them bearing down on you is an enemy you can slowly chip to death with a regular bow.

I'm aiming to try one in my DaS3 PvE run eventually since I'm finally going a Str build, but apparently there's only two of them in the whole game.

Gotthard's has the best moveset in the game even discounting its rolling L1.

Onikiri and Ubadachi has an excellent WA>L1 combo and the standard katana goodies.

Drang Twinspears have good mix-ups and leo ring counter potential.

Winged Knight Twinaxes have shit range, reach and moveset but when you hit with an L1 it does ultra-tier damage easily.

Drang Hammers also have a shit moveset with even less reach but has an R1/L1>WA>R2 combo that can easily do 1k damage.

Warden Twinblades have good bleed potential.

Sellsword Twinblades have a good WA combo as well.

Dancer's Curved Swords are alright but suffer from split damage.

Avelyn does the most damage period, has the best dps and highest burst, but 1/3rds your ammo.

Defense is important. An Ice Rapier can actually counter you for 800 damage if you get hit by the R2, though, but damn you deserve it if you did get hit by that.

That information is incorrect. Every running attack deals high poise damage, yes, to the point it's almost impossible to poise through them. However you cannot combo after it. A Sacred Oath Dark Infused Dark Weapon Chaos Blade will counter you for 400 to 600 damage if you're using the correct gear. The R2 actually deals more damage than a running R1.

Pretty confident I wasn't, it was really fast. Went for the trade since the dude was p bad and I had an UGS, dealt 500-600 damage to him while he did 800 on me which is retarded since you're not supposed to trade with UGS. The next two normal hits had me at like 100 hp so it's definitely the damage on it.

And for the katana, I am talking about the thrust running attack which is probably the r1. (never liked katanas so I never used any) I remember getting stunlocked by running attacks and then finished off with two r1s at redditbridge.
