Is fine for the most part, just beware there are VNs that require deprecated graphics libraries that got removed around win 8. Example being Duel Savior which requires DirectDraw. You can fix some of the problems by using wine libraries and a hex edit or fall back to running things in a win 7 VM.

Well if you put it on it isn't hard to put windows 7 on as a dual boot or in a VM (can just use Daz loader to make it genuine). It mostly depends on what VNs you are looking to play though, as for the most part it shouldn't really matter unless you are playing anything really old.

I don't think most of them are regular VN players. The price point is the problem as Galaxy Angel won't be sold cheap due to how much work it would need to bring it up to scratch. You will probably have to port it to a new engine to get it to run well on modern operating systems and then you have to upres all the graphics either by getting the originals (if they are larger) or waifux2.
Are so many other good games on steam for Sci-Fi fans after all, so why would they go for Galaxy Angel over them if it is priced pretty high?

Well you are right about the price, that is always a problem. I think it would sell well with something like $25. But as you say the price depends on how much work would be needed to make it acceptable for today's standards. Now the big question is how much work would it actually take ?

When I researched it people pointed out that it actually wouldn't take that much work to make it run on modern systems. But they could be wrong, so to know for sure we would need someone from MG/JAST to take a look at it.

Also I know that there are good Sci-Fi games on steam but people get bored from playing the same games over time, so you usually try to go for something that you haven't played already and if it wasn't so new games would never sell well unless they have a lot of improvements. But as I said GA gameplay is fun enough to make people at last willing to try it.

But anyway I'm aware that this depends on how much work it would actually take, if its too much trouble than they obviously won't go for it.

Right now both JAST and MG can afford to experiment with the market, If I was in their place I would just get the license for the first one and see how it does before deciding if its worth to do the others as well.

If you want MG to stick strictly to titles that have sold the best for them, you would see them going the way of Sekai and putting out more garbage like Go Go Nippon, or strictly doing nukige.

The main problem is as you said the time and cost of getting it up to scratch. Simply making it run isn't enough. It needs to run without bugs, crashes and other technical problems like having to set the game to run in compatibility mode. As that won't sit straight with a paying consumer, as it would be a professional release instead of a fan translation. I just feel anyone who would pick it up would be better of picking up something newer.

MG kinda can though not sure how much spare funds and resources it has around since it had a few flops recently and Doddler (who would probably be the one doing the hacking/fixing) is quite busy with other projects. JAST not so much with how it really struggles to actually release anything is a reasonable amount of time.
