The latest part of Fata Morgana changed the mood to something more lightweight, while the starting stories have a tragic and gothic feel.
Or maybe it was jut me getting tired of the overdone repetition of scenes for different perspective or further clarification. And I'm a fan of R07 stuff but at the end the sense of magic and mystery was totally lost and it became and LBGTQ leaflet.

I don't think it ruined her character, it just shows two sides of the same coin. It makes her more human overall. And Maria is plotting to kill Jacopo still, I would hardly call that well behaved. She just isn't in a situation where she's constantly having to suppress herself so she's more genuine in conversion, and she also has nothing against anyone you see her interacting with in door 8. The Maria in each door are just different possible outcomes of the same person.
