Nine is basically a Ragna who failed to mature. Both of them had very similar motivations, but Ragna eventually got over his "fuck this gay earth" stage and matured into a better person. Nine's pretty much the same person she was as a kid, only even angrier.

I don't play Hazama much but as far as I know:
His chain mechanic was reverted to how it was pre-CPEX,so he has a max of 2 chain follow-ups, and gains them both back if he lands ouroboros on hit, but unlike before he doesn't gain any stocks back on block, which is the big nerf and makes him a lot less mobile.
His reversal, 236236B also lost its invuln outside of overdrive, so his defense is a little weaker but it's not a huge nerf.
He also gained a new special(?) that on hit or block allows him to use the enhanced version of his stance specials immediately, so his mixup through stance is presumably better, but they aren't plus on block anymore so if your opponent blocks stance mixup you probably have to end your pressure there.
From what I hear his execution got a little lighter too, notably you can link 5B after 3C > Stance B so the timing must be a lot looser, and bloody fangs launches so there's that, too.

Mai is very natural at being a girl.

So overall, it looks like Mai's Variable Arts is basically an enhanced version of some characters' follow-up mechanics. A couple characters have moves with one or two follow-ups, such as Ragna's Inferno Divider > Axe Kick. Mai has around two to three different follow-ups for all of her special moves. So compared to other new characters, it looks like she has comparatively high execution barrier, but at the same time, she's also pretty versatile.

It doesn't look like she'll be very beginner-friendly.

Her Drive looks a bit boring and not very useful though. Based on how it seems to work, it might be clunky to use. Like a less automatic version of Sword Summoner. It might just end up like Naoto's Bloodedge: cumbersome and rarely used in actual competitive play.

Incidentally, this pretty much proves that Outseal's based off of Lancer's Gae Bolg from Fate/stay night.

In either case, I say "Bloodedge" is plain and simple a worthless edition at this point. If such a thing were a viable possibility, it would have been in BBCP when "Bloodedge" was actually relevant. But as it stands, he is literally a gimped Ragna who can't use D. There is no point in such a character's existence unless to force "more Ragnas" into the roster. "Black Beast" Ragna is fair game to me, so I'd happily welcome it as it presents something fresh to the table.

Alright so, first things first, pressure. Your 2A is one of the longest range jabs in the game and is also + on block, abuse it. Second, your 5B is jump cancallable on hit or block and has good range. Abuse that. Third, Gurren can end most strings and is also + on block, abuse it. You also have 4C as a lighting fast long range poke, but the hurtbox isnt kind so you'll usually trade rather than counter. For air pressure use j.5B and j.2A. j.5B can be jump cancelled on block as can j.2A, but the hitbox for j.2A lasts longer. j.5C is overrated but scary, use it if your opponent is already scared of your pressure. Second, combos. If you have 4 pips, Gurren > Zan is always the way, otherwise its generally not worth spending the meter since most other moves prorate so heavily. Also learn corner combos, Hakumens corner damage is crazy. Third, your counters aren't very good, use them sparingly as you will be punished if you don't. Fourth, gimmick nonsense. Hakumen can actually special cancel his dashes with air specials, meaning he can 2A > dash forward > Tsubaki for a lighting fast overhead for 3k damage, or he can dash into Hotaru for a pseudo reversal. His Shippu special is unblockable on full charge. If your opponent spills their spaghetti you can generally throw them, cancel the recovery and charge shippu while they're stunned. Thats all I'm willing to write right now.
