You need more than one element for each of his phases as they both have different weaknesses. When he's not enraged you can flash him out of the sky, so someone with challenger to check that is good, but as you're gunner you might as well just shoot it and not give a fuck.

How do I git gud with Prowler?
I feel like I'm not doing optimal damage even when I'm hitting the monster 24/7. I feel like I'm being carried when I could be contributing more with my main weapons.

It's kind of situational. I like it for things that hold their face higher up off the ground so that I can still hit them with a level 3 charge. The idea is that you can jump up off their chest or whatever and smack the face at full power. But as a whole it's probably not that great.

It was introduced in 4U and honestly feels more natural there than it does in Gens due to the level design. But generally the idea is if you rack up enough damage during aerial attacks (attacks made whilst leaping off of something) you'll be able to mount the monster - you have a short section where you try to damage the monster enough from its back without it shaking you off and if successful, you topple the monster for free hits.

I think they're quite decent in Gens, not really near the top of the pack or near the bottom. They've got some of the coolest Hunter Arts in the entire game.

That really depends on your definition of 'good' If you mean the power creep of 4u where you could get Honed Blade, Edge Lore, HG Earplugs and 2-3 other skills for your set, yeah. It's not going to be as good in comparison. That doesn't mean it's impossible to get get Razor Sharp/Handicraft +2 + HG Earplug along with Capture Guru and Trap Master.

If anything, less equals more because you really have to crutch the numbers and decide what skills are absolutely necessary and build a set around that while seeing what else you can fit in. (Unless you're a puss who just uses a Deviant armor set so you can have a bunch of skills.)
