A quick question regarding gunning and skills.
How much does True Shot Up add, damage-wise? Is it just a raw boost or does it also boost the element on internal ammo?

I was looking through hammers and came across it, it looked great, so I was gonna build a set for it.
At that time however I did not know it was an unlocked HR enemy.

So I can't can't get evade extender on dreadking but I can throw normal up on silverwind for HBG. Is striker with evasion+2 as good or better than adept? I'd hate to have wasted points there.

Is Bow really shit early game? Most people say it doesn't become viable until Teostra Bow is unlocked, but I want to solo the game with it

Teo isn't good either until the end of HR, when you can have a rematch with bonesquid for the 3rd upgrade.
There's quite a few choices during early-mid game, so you're fine, as long as you can use a bow properly.

I mean, I'm looking through all this stuff from the 4th series. Styles? Arts? This glaive thing has like 100 different attacks. Charge Blade looks interesting, but it feels like they just took the SnS and gave it Switchaxe's mechanics. The game was perfect already, but now it seems like you can basically alter your weapon to be something it was never meant to be. Greatswords are supposed to be slow and clunky. That's their deal. But this style... Why the fuck did they give the GS mobility? I don't want mobility, I want to time my attack perfectly so by the time the monster's head gets in front of me I've thrown my lvl 3 charge down.

Even the Swaxe was sedated enough to remain "classical". Weapons already had different mods. Demonize, Sword-mode, whatever Longswords do.

Really the only flaws compared to other MH games were the lack of difficulty and all of the tedious HP sponge elder dragons having good equipment so that you had a reason to fight them more than once.

The biggest issue is that they seem terrified of making shelling worthwhile. They tried to do it with the heat gauge in X, but that just made shelling a chore you do so you can do more damage with the functional part of your weapon, and you just use the HA that fills the heat gauge anyway. The only time shelling felt good was in 3U, and that was because it was easy to get artillery king and there was a natural purple wide 5 gunlance. Even then I'm pretty sure nobody used shells in speedruns.

Even when the tentacles are pushing down and out trying to hit you, or doing the actual slam attacks, you can still hit their base if you're within like 15 feet of his head. I'm not even kidding you can swing at open air when that tentacle is face down in the bone 30 feet in front of you and you will get the 60 or whatever motion value hit and the air will explode in blood.

The tentacle hitboxes are available to be hit for almost the entire fight, the only time they arent is when he is completely underground and they are as well, and when he is in the water outside the arena you can only shoot them, and even then when he slides his fat head onto the shore you can hit his tentacles again.

It's really a bunch of bullshit. There should have been more Hunter arena fights, more Prowler arena fights, and they should have had separated rewards. They dropped the ball harder with the arena than they did with any other part of this game.

So, I had some questions about the elemental pierce ammo, pretty much all about if things that increase/decrease damage for it apply to just the raw damage of it or if it also effects the elemental damage.

So like, do critical distances make elemental damage do 50-150% damage? Negative critical hits applying to just raw, or both raw and elemental? Haphazard's 20% boost applying to the elemental on top of the raw damage?

What's even a good high rank armour for HBG? I've been using a daimyo LR set with arzuros leggings all the way up to HR6.

Critical distance is not a thing for elemental ammo (maybe for the raw component, but that might as well not exist).
Crits only work when you have the skill Elemental Crits equipped, hence the existence of said skill.

Well, "relevant" is a stretch, but yeah, you need to do the regular Prowler missions. I think that the third Prowler arena quest unlocks after you do the 2x Iodrome 6* Hub Prowler quest, which requires that you do (IIRC) the first-listed Prowler quests for 4* and 5* in the Hub.

Elemental hitzones are usually half as weak as raw, so double the 7% and you'll get its equivalent elemental value.

14% is around a third of 45%, so before factoring in armour skills Raw damage makes up a third of your damage. Functionally, it'll be around 20-25%.

Triple Up Extender gives defense up, attack up and affinity up to everyone in the room. I'm not sure on the defense and attack numbers, but it's +10% affinity which is pretty nice. And that's on top of it extending Triple Up duration.
