It's not about how many kills you get or how much damage you do but rather what you gain from it.

If you are playing a poor hero for the situation or only playing to farm meaningless damage then you aren't helping your team, you being like that actively prevents them from doing what they need to do. No one cares if you play junkrat and sit in the back spamming grenades into zarya shields all game, congrats you have gold damage and gold elims but your team could never actually move up because you never pushed and you charged the enemy zarya constantly.

See how this works?

Damage is not relevant if you're not killing, which can either be your own fault (gameplay or hero choice) or your team's. People can heal damage.

Elim doesn't mean shit if you trade 1:1 every engagement, get an triple elim on a ulti after your team was already dead or are getting 20 fire elims. A team with 6 dps or a 5 dps 1 healer will have someone with gold on one or both of those, does that means he deserves to win ? Elim also means nothing if you're not eliminating the key member of the other team because he is getting more job done than you, regardless if it's because he is good, your team is bad, your team don't know or don't want to pick the counter (and would be able to deal with the other members if you dealt with the one that is shitting on your team).

Your comment just shows how you don't understand even the basics of how to play this game.

You're unlikely to actually break the shield, but that's only because the pressure your damage will create causes the rein to back off before his shield breaks. This, in turn, means they can't be applying pressure to your offense/defense.

It's a psychological thing. People see a big ass barrier blocking their damage, so they assume it'll just keep on blocking it. It's the same principle behind why people don't just walk through his shield when he's cornered; there's a chance he'll hammer you, but what's mostly going through people's minds is "oh fuck, he's behind his shield, I can't get past him!". I'm looking for a premade, I've been soloQ since the beginning and I want to at least try with a premade now that the season is about to end.

If you want to win, it is your job to make your team win. That means filling whatever role is needed and calling shots if nobody else is. Make sure to get your team talking at the start of the round, because you need them communicating if you want a good chance of winning.

When you're singling out one person to switch, try to be amicable about it. Don't tell the Hanzo main that he's literally hitler, because he'll just continue playing Hanzo but now he's on tilt and worse than before. People tend to play worse when you get angry at them. Something like "Hey, <Hanzo main>, are you any good at <character>? They would destroy this comp" goes a long way towards making them WANT to switch, because rather than making them feel useless for what they're doing now, it makes them feel like they're becoming more useful.
