Forge is literally better in 5 than Reach by leaps and bounds. You can actually place down your own terrain, alter gravity, through glitching you can even make semi-custom vehicles with map geometry. But no, there is not a preset terrain forge canvas like Forge World.

Don't take this the wrong way but having Forge World right now would be literally for lazy people. Just imagine trying to build any map you want from the ground, why would you pick a canvas with stuff in the way instead of a clean canvas?

I wish I could get vehicle welding working. Seeing /hg/ island gave me the idea to have an entirely naval map where two teams compete for control of dock platforms and move around on boat-ified mongooses and one warthog per team. would probably be strongholds, maybe each platform has a stationary gauss warthog, i don't know.

But for the life of me I can't seem to get vehicle welding working right. I've seen all the tutorials, it just never works for me and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

On a related note, if a welded vehicle respawns, do the objects welded to it respawn as well?

In relation to halo 2 and even halo 1 xbc it was a letdown but it is by no means garbage. My biggest gripe with it is that it made custom games into memes and I never really got to enjoy good old fashioned deathmatch with my friends because every custom lobby was always running shit like jenga or infection.
