Point me to a stable highsec mining corp that has more than 100 members and is up for more than a month. You can't, because they all fall apart before that.

The reason I'm talking about mining is because I was a director of several while I was station trading in Jita and have personally seen how new players get intensely into the whole corp mining OPs, even start begging for them, only to have them wardecced as soon as the corp reaches minor relevancy, making undocking Orcas a retarded decision, therefor no mining OPs.
Then half of them proceed to get camped because they're new and simply never log in again. The rest of them drop for NPC and quit not much later.
And mining is the primary choice for at least 70% of the newbies from what I've seen, so the game is technically creating a very toxic environment for 2/3rds of their fresh players. All that so they preserve their warped idea of a "sandbox" and refuse to fix a broken mechanic

As a somewhat new player, I think you are very wrong about what attracts newer people to this game. I can only speak for myself and people who I have gotten into this game, but sitting in highsec with a venture waiting for it to fill up while doing something else is isn't what makes new players want to play eve. Most people who I have talked into getting the game, myself included, were persuaded by war stories or the pvp content. I use the word persuaded because most peoples vision of eve is a game where you do nothing but afk all day and map out your money through spreadsheets, and no one wants a second job if they are trying to have fun. Maybe doing that is the fun part of eve to some people, but its a good way for new players to get board fast.

The only reason that new players mine so much is because its the only thing CCP explains in the tutorials really well, and its what most people suggest to get some isk because of how low risk it is to do so.

I used to mine for a while before I heard about exploring and the loot to be had, the thrill of jumping into a WH and making it out with a lot of money (for a new player) is what made me stay. I think that CCP should focus on all aspects of new player experience and really show how many ways there are to make isk or fun gameplay, be that by mining, exploring, ganking ext.. That's what makes the new player experience garbage, the opportunities are a joke, the ui is never fully explained, the agent missions are fun for a little bit but don't really teach you much about combat, and after you did the "tutorial" you have 0 direction on what to do next.

I started off trying to make money with exploration, even succeeding a bit, making my way out of a wormhole with 160m about a week into playing, but the more I tried it the more I realized it is very unreliable. While you might get 160m scanning down all of the sites in one wormhole, you might also make only 2m, and this may just be me, but I like consistency, which is what attracted me to industry instead.

I'm a new player and i've been looking at these gallente industrial ships, specifically the ones with specialised holds.

They are cheap, in plentiful supply, hold a lot and can fit many stabilisers.

Last night I made 27M isk off a 4-jump run through low sec, just moving tritanium which I bought. It was essentially effortless.

Is this sensible or am I doing it wrong?

Can you recommend a fitting?

when you select dock, you come out of warp slightly outside the docking range of the station. it's only a few meters, not as bad as, say, autopiloting - but you do have to spend a couple of seconds (in a fast ship) burning to the docking radius and longer the slower your ship is. not all stations are the same; some have more forgiving geometry than others (just like some stations allow you to redock instantly if you decide you don't like what's on grid - like jita - and some stations kick you out of the docking radius immediately and you have to turn around a burn a little bit if you want to dock up again - like dodixie).

I have participated in a fleet that was able to kill a very nice burner machariel because its owner was not using docking bookmarks.

I was talking about hictors (the t2 cruiser) not dictors (the t2 destroyer). hictors can bubble (only in null) but they can also fit a special high-power scram that completely ignores your warp core strength and always works. The latter is usually what you worry about in lowsec.

to the original guy, if you're hauling from nullsec it's a whole other kettle of fish and requires a somewhat different approach.

Not that guy but if you get into lowsec or even general trade hub hauling where you don't need the specialized holds, fit up a Wreathe with Nanofiber Structure and 2-3x Inertia Stabilizers II. With this fit, you can jump to warp as fast as interceptors and once you skill up Evasive Maneuvering, you can go even faster. With this fit, ignoring the bigger cargo of T2s, I have been able to completely ignore blockade runners because I never even get scanned while flying my Wreathe. It's absolutely perfect for high risk, low volume items to drag from trade hub to trade hub and even for low sec hauling.

Look up the MWD trick if you haven't already. You should fit this to any ship you can, but this will make it even harder for anyone to get you.

i've never flown a wreathe (at least, not since i became "not a total retard at fitting") but i find it hard to believe that it can be fit to instawarp - which is why you would fly an interceptor in a hauling role. do you just mean "it warps real fast" or do you actually mean "it warps in under 2 seconds"?

also anecdotally i procrastinated on training up an occator for more than a year and now that i've finally got one it's the fucking tits, i love that ship so much, i use it all the time.

Some of the activities in this game seem so pointless. Like, invention for instance. It costs millions to make a good blueprint, and you still require millions more for the materials, which in the end doesn't even net you any kind of advantage, and in many cases it's just cheaper to buy a T2 hull than to spend cores and decryptors over and over again just to get a chance to have the ability to spend money to build something you could just buy with isk.
