It'd be nice to have quests that are mystery monster. Don't know what you're fighting until you get there. It'd be a problem for some weapons, though. You might have a useless element when you load in or a non optimal shot type on your gunner weapon. Plus there's the hot and cold environments.

I still don't fully understand this deviant system. I just unlocked the ability to hunt silver wind Narga. I would like to make silver wind narga armor.
Can I make the armor just hunting the narga I just gained the ability to fight? Or will I need to level the quest up somehow to get all the necessary materials?

Also, how fucked up will I get if I attempt this while still wearing the low rank jaggi/bull combo?
I trust my ability to solo a regular narga without getting hit, but I don't know about this deviant asshole.

You can make the armor set after 3 runs of Silverwind 1 but each upgrade requires materials from the next rank. The special skill also won't activate until every armor piece is level 6. They all have shitty defense starting out and don't get good until late upgrades.

I'm not sure if you're aware but the CB has a REALLY wide sweep with the second A, so you're going to get tripped trying to take the head with a CB user assuming you're not tripping him first. The proper course of action when you're an IG and a CB is going ham on the head is to either hit the feet, or hit the tail.

I never heard them denounce grinding outright, but the system does allow for slightly less grinding.

normally you'd have to rebuild a weapon from the ground up or find the closest thing to where you're headed to build from.
now you can upgrade at anytime to anything in that weapon's tree even if you upgraded past the level in an earlier branch.

Throw boomerangs. Use Big Boomerang and Piercing Boomerang.
Throw more boomerangs.
If the monster is down, run in and do your XXXXX combo on it, it'll fill your gauge really quickly. You won't be doing a lot of damage to it, but it'll fill if you're trying to get enough for a capture.
Otherwise just sit back and throw those boomerangs. As long as you're consistently hitting it, you'll have enough to recast both your skills as well as have spare to dig if need be.

White sharpness, 164 raw and poison.
The silverwind weapon also has white sharpness but more raw and affinity.
Poison probably balances this out, or makes the garuga one even better.

Unless there's a monster completely immune to poison, Deadeye looks like the best choice.

Fill your gauge up to 1 bar and use big boomerang. Then fill it up 2 more and use piercing boomerangs.
By then, your bar should fill extremely quickly. You should easily be able to refresh each buff when they run out and have meter to spare.
Always charge your boomerangs. It doesn't take long to charge them if you have boomerang pro, and the second one will automatically be charged if you charged the first.
You can use the third boomerang melee attack if it feels appropriate, you're close enough and it's safe.
Always aim for weak spots- I assume your boomerang counts as shot damage, so check kiranico to see which hitzones are weakest to shot damage.
Also, the dodge isn't super reliable for I-frames, but you can use three in a row. Also, if you dodge with your weapon out, you can then start to gallop around just by pressing a direction as though you were sheathed and running. It's great for repositioning.

I'm using the regular garuga weapon, and even that seems to poison extremely quickly. The damage varies from monster to monster, but 300-500 poison damage seems common, and at 2 or 3 poisons a fight, that's pretty nice.
It also has good raw and sharpness.

Fighting a gen 2 and onwards monster is usually a game of understanding their tells and reacting accordingly to what they'll do before and after the next attack.

Fighting a gen 1 monster is simply a game of understanding that if you stand in a specific spot, the monster will do a certain attack without a tell, so be prepared for it, or just don't stand there.

Yeah, when you have to EE it does cut into your gauge. Try to use it as a last resort.
Does your cat have herb horn? It doesn't heal much and it takes a while, so it's no good in the middle of a fight, but if there's downtime, like in a multi monster hunt, it can be nice. Takes no gauge to use.
Also, bringing another cat with health or true health horn can be really helpful. Let you focus on DPS while they heal you occasionally.

You definitely want to have a pair of DB for each element when they become available. The four flagship DB, while not the best, are invaluable while playing through the game- except you'll probably want to drop gammoth in favor of lagombi.
Prior to that, you can get by with just raw, but try to make good element DB when you can. There's no great option for para or sleep, and blast is restricted at the start.

Well, I don't think I can handle the CB. It's just not very mobile (it should be just as mobile as a SnS but somehow it just isn't), the Charge A takes fucking ages to charge and it's your BnB move, the axe is clunky as fuck (I don't know how the hell people ever played SA) and the weapon just overall doesn't feel satisfying. I've given it enough hunts to learn it and I just don't think it's a weapon I'll ever really enjoy.
