Repulsor doesn't push though. It prevents monsters from moving sure but it doesn't push them back. Only way for repulsor to work on Kraken is for the Kraken to already be near the ground.

Seems like most people already bailed looking at the player count, but we decided to stick it out for a little. It's gotten even worse.

They can either fix this unplayable shit with number tweaks or get off their fat fuck asses and redesign monsters to take some skill, but this is it.

The difficulty of Hunters is how pathetically easy Monsters are. You have to be doing triple the work of the Monster play at all times.

They're big targets so their skills have big hitboxes, the only way to fix this would be to make the monsters smaller.

It depends they have to do a certain amount of damage to beat powerful healers like val and defensive supports. Nerfing their damage makes defense supports like hank to strong. If you've got an offensive support you are mitigating less damage in exchange for being more offensive.

Armour mechanics are meant to punish hunters from healing up, the Armour channeling means you must engage the monster. and the quick recovery is made to make up the fact they expect the monster to always be caught due to the new tracking system. What mistakes can you make getting caught? its almost impossible to not get caught.

The new dome isn't designed so you can track the monster easier and kill him, its easier to catch the monster so its harder to kill him.

Monster are easy and have a low skill cap, there's not much room for improvement. There's basic monster play and that's it. Map knowledge and routes etc. are things the Hunters have to learn too so those aren't Monster specific either, and they're honestly more important for the Hunter anyway.

If they can't make Monsters more difficult to play, dedicated Monster players can never reach the same skill level that the Hunters can and new Hunters will still get shit on and quit instantly because the skill curves are that skewed.

That's the idea, except in reality what you're actually doing in current Evolve is playing wrong. The Monster is on a time limit and is free from Domes if it takes damage. Unrealistic. Hunters have a planet scanner and a time limit on their dome. The only person with any incentive to hide is the Monster. And to top it off downing hunters or taking damage lets you out sooner as the Monster so you would have no reason to hide if your armor didn't regen. You would need to fight to avoid burning out the match timer to the point that you run out of time.

I've been talking about hiding the entire time. The monster is the only one incentivized to hide because he gets free HP for doing so. The hunters are going to flush the monster out regardless, all it accomplishes is giving the monster and reason to hide. As previously states the Hunters already have reasons to come after the Monster without Regen. The Monster has no reason to hide without Regen. It's a shit bandaid mechanic made by shit devs.

When the monster loses two health bars, the dome loses time and most of the time, the monster is free to go (other times the monster has to wait 20 extra seconds or less).

What if the timer only got reduced by downing hunters? That would punish more the people that get caught at stage 1 and suck enough to not down anybody.

Almost happened to me once before the damage res update, only I was Parnell and the monster was kraken.


Medic leaves, so we get a bot lazarus. Trapper sees this in the lobby, goes "nope", and disconnect. Cue /all "Woooo bots".

We airdrop, and we see an armored kraken fly out way. So we engage, and the support promptly gets downed and disconnect.
Surprisingly, lazarus gets him up when he (letting me, maybe) follows me away from the corpse. He's taking damage because rockets can hit kraken and I shoot mines, fucks off after losing half his health.

He was real sloppy about his feeding route since it was only me chasing, but since he never doubled back I kept doming him when he came out the cave on weather station.

In the end he won with less than a health bar left, on stage 3, with the support still taking a break, when he finally downed me and camped my body. Cue little "wow" in allchat on his part.

Still was funny to see how sloppy he was.

Just started playing yesterday. I get the impression that playing the monster is slightly easier than playing hunter somehow when I get '5 games as monster' and '5 wins as monster' at the same time. And i've only played Goliath.

Abe's stasis is pretty bad, since it's an area of effect the monster can just traversal away.
Crow's stasis is exactly the same effect, only fired from a gun and applied directly to the monster for a specific amount of time.
Griffin's harpoon is also pretty fantastic, you can yank Krakens out of the sky with it.

So far all i've fought is wraiths, a few goliaths and a gorgon. Wraiths damn near ignore it, goliaths I can maybe burn a single movement ability before it's on recharge and he just pops a different one instead, and the gorgon just sort of murdered the entire team to death and we were all terrible.
So yeah most of my time as Jack is spent going 'jesus christ team catch up to me' when i'm hunting the monster, then being murdered by the monster because i'm the trapper and my repulsor doesn't seem to stop more than one ability tops before i'm being eaten.

depends on your team comp really. For example if I'm running Slim or Laz with a hank, I run 3 tiers of health regen since it allows you to negate their strongest weakness's. If I'm running Laz without a hank I run reload speed for glove and cloak.

torvald is acceptable after his buffs, slim is a fantastic medic to pair with hank(and only hank) since it makes the "focus the support" strat extremely punishing, and Lazarus is fucking shit but I'm at 39 and need 1/100th of a bar to hit him at 40 so I never have to play him again.

Parnell due to the nerf to his shotgun. Torvalds shotgun has a tighter spread and faster firerate in exchange for slightly reduced capacity and 10% less damage, Plus with the way current dome mechanics are, parnell isn't good inside of domes but is great on the chase due to rockets being good chip damage, whereas torvald is better in the dome simply because his form of burst comes out faster and can be used during the final moments of a dome to secure a metric ton of health damage whereas parnell can't do it as reliably since the monster jumps away the moment the dome is gone.

More of a preference thing, but in the overall dome fights (which are the most important aspect for assaults currently) Torvald is better than parnell simply due to how his kit functions. Mortars being used at the ending moments of a dome to secure huge health burst, whereas super soldier helps the assault chase at the dome drop to secure more chip damage.

Take a guess what happens if Parnell jumps in front of your abduction. He activates super soldier while you're grabbing him and unloads an entire magazine point blank in your face while you're dragging him back since wraiths head is literally filling the screen when you're being abducted. There goes your ENTIRE armor bar (100% > 0% armor with minor health chip damage) if he's running capacity. Now you have a drugged up parnell in your face and you have no armor.

Lennox can THUNDERSTRIKE into the Abduction which is one of the animations that allows her to continue PUNCHING you while you abduct her. and I'm sure you understand how painful eating a thunderstrike + 3 lennox punches are.

I mean if you want to bait out the super soldier or thunderstrike before abduction by all means, but you accidentally grab one when it's off cooldown and you're going to have a really bad time.

I'm finding it weird hearing everyone complain that monsters are too weak or hunters are too weak. I've just taken a break from an 11 win streak as both hunters and monsters and honestly the only losses so far are when my team as hunters are especially retarded, like 'wrong side of the map consistently' retarded.
As monster I just flee, use sneaking to double back, etc., then focus people down in the dome and punish the other hunters every time they try to rez. Repeat until i'm strong enough to just finish them.
As hunter it's just a matter of constantly hounding the monster so it never has a chance to get shit done so that even if it reaches Stage 3 it's so harassed and whittled down that we can finish it quick.

I would occasionally find those teams that were seemingly unbeatable and there was a clear, obvious difference between those players and hopeless randos. Those players obviously had the patience and dedication to actually get good at the game while random hunters didn't and so now, like I said, we're playing a 4v1 arena game focused entirely around head to head combat instead of an actually interesting asymmetrical game of cat and mouse.

Backwards. I'm fine with the really good teams, I can tell when I'm playing against a good team because they play almost exactly like the good teams from before stage 2, but now they're ever so slightly more effective.

All the balance changes did is make the game 10x easier for bad hunters, that's just the fucking bottom line right there. Good players just don't need most of the new shit hunters get, but the bad hunters do because otherwise they get fucking completely annihilated. That's what they deserve for not being as good as the veteran hunters but no, they'd rather call for monster nerfs.

The whole point of my post was wondering how bad the nerfs to premades would end up being. What's the point of playing a 4 man premade with my friends if we need to try our absolute hardest to stand a chance? The game was very well made before stage 2, hunter randoms just didn't want to actually coordinate with their teams so they got repeatedly shat on and they deserved it completely.

That's the thing, it wasn't an accident, there were good teams and they stood tall above the rest.

People who could keep me tracked and on the run trying to feed, essentially how the game plays now, but those veteran hunters fucking earned it instead of just spamming a global ability. They worked hard to know the maps as well as they did, they could almost predict my every fucking move and dart me mid air from across the map in the middle of a leap based on an estimate of where I would have ended up in relation to where they last saw me.

Good teams could keep me fucking locked down, starved, and always in direct LOS and they have nothing but my respect seeing as how the game has been made so much easier for hunters yet hunters STILL complain about monster balance. The GOOD old hunter teams were amazing, truly skill to behold and respect. I had absolutely no complaints in terms of balance back then and I'm sure those hunters didn't either. All the old hunters who complained about the game being a walking simulator where they can't find the monster are just straight up bad and you're probably one of them.
