6* is a pretty big deal. Just to give you an idea, the lowest rated 6* are at 88/100, and there are only 7 5* characters at or above that rating.
Luckily quite a bit of 3* characters got 6*, and some probably will(protagonists and main antagonists).

If you ARE talking about chaining with Barrage, you should know that using multiple units with Barrage doesn't really chain so well together. The timing gets messed up quickly.

I did Cid mission U+ and had Irvine (level 65 or 67 or something) in front row- though he did have synergy armor. The only mitigation I took was shellga, full break and magic breakdown. He died halfway through the fight (this was U+ without wall and no physical mitigation), but while back row is good, you're still fine in the front row as long as you have correct mitigation.

so been experimenting abit with ifrit fight, since it's only 1 stamina.

Only physical, and even then he rarely used punches. He spammed Blaze and Meteor mostly. On a second run I'd throw him in the front and replace Magic Lure with Saint Cross.

Magic does quite a bit more damage than physical against ifrit, even with shout up.

Its possible, but you need a shit ton of hones if you have no SBs. Edea with 470 MAG and Attunement II does around 8k to Ifrit with just Full Break. 18k Ice Strike

My setup for Ifrit:

Celes: Runic is glorious as it shuts down his single target Firaja, plus Blizaga Blade for damage. And one less person getting hit by Meteor is good. And she will never, ever run out of ability uses.

Agrias: ATK/MAG debuff on her SB makes a huge difference in incoming damage.

Beatrix: Magic Blink on her SSB is an absolute Godsend. Just spammed Lifesiphon while occasionally refreshing Protectga and making the party laugh at Meteor.

Ramza: Shout and Full Break. 'Nuff said.

Relm: I flipped a coin to decide if I should bring a waifu white mage or a daughteru white mage, since I don't have a wall. Daughteru won. Sorry Lenna, maybe next time.

This is the A team I use to steamroll U and U+ fights without much difficulty. And this was no joke. When my SG RW dropped about 1/3 of the way in, I was afraid I wasn't going to kill him fast enough. Things got hairy when he started spamming Meteor faster than Blink could keep up until SG could be refreshed. Even then, the damage still sucked until Relm got caught up enough on the healing to be able to refresh Shellga. Other than maybe multiple magic blinks or stacking MAG buffs, doing this without native Shout or Wall would be damn hard.

One upside to Ifrit's retarded speed coupled with his love of AOE damage is that he will give the party a lot of free SB refills. Record materias like Knight's Charge that give bonus SB gauge when damaged are quite useful here.

The rewards from this fight are not terribly useful right now. So if you can't beat it, don't worry. It'll only get easier each time becomes available, like a Nightmare dungeon.

So here's probably the most vanilla build in this thread so far. The double AoE heals were necessary since this was the first fight I've done since medals were tweaked where I've lost an action and two damage medals, shit's insane.

Hones here were cutting it really close, too, but from experience I'd also like to point out that anyone with Squall's EnIce SB has no reason not to clear this fight, it's that effective.

Is it a good idea to set that as my RW right now for people who might want it?

Get an actual White Mage rather than Tyro.

In response to Wall vs. Shout, I personally wouldn't use either at that level which is why I recommended something completely different instead. There's plenty of target-all RWs, such as Rinoa or Squall's BSBs, which should be enough to take out both Biggs/Wedge and Elvoret; wait for Wedge to spawn and then trash them both.

If you can make Breaks, you may as well invest in Power and Magic Breaks first, Armor isn't that important.

If you really have to ask, though, Shout is more suited to end-level bosses. Stick with Wall.

Try grinding for Heaven's Ash. A pain in the buttocks to get. Only a couple of monsters drop/steal it and boy I don't know how many runs I did of both the Phantom Forest and Chamber of Awakening INT I did before getting all I need at the moment.

It's a good thing I did that grind though since now I am near the 50/100 items used mark and I think that I should grind that instead of Awakening characters for the 2 trophies I need to get the Hero Ring recipe.

I have this little problem with RK, mostly because I'm new, but it screw me over fairly often.

I never really know which character is attacking, I end up having to look at the character, then at the abilities (that sometimes there are multiples characters) then back at the character squeezing my eyes trying to figure out which one has the yellow circle under them making me lose turn time.

What's the most optimal way to quickly recognize which character is up without relying on the yellow circle?
