That's why I have a bed for my ship's pet in the "resting area" of my train. With enough upgrades, the command chair is too far ahead, so it never actually goes near it. It gets close to SAIL, and down to where I keep the crew bunks and kitchen, then hops back to its bed and rests there. When I redesign the layout of my ship, I'll probably do the same thing with the pet's bed.

They used to be rivals back in the early beta, but chuckefuck thought it wouldn't be nice to they retconed it. The floran still attacked the hylotl, but the hylotl forgave the floran, just like that. And the floran forgot completely that it even happened.
Even though the lore was simple, it was much better than before since each race was unique. Now it is only cosmetic.

It takes little effort to get a crew. Especially the first upgrade which is just "find any settlement, get the first crew member then recruit a penguin to prompt a ship upgrade"
The penguin is almost just coincidental since it comes after Dreadwing, and I was just curious to see what a penguin soldier could do. After that I never even looked at buying a license since I already wanted a crew for my ship anyway. The difficulty comes in getting a truly diverse cast of crew members of every race because Novakids are colony-exclusive

I, too, often forget that people don't have an abundance of teleporter cores from chests and missions. Which is odd, because diamonds are also kinda easy to mine, too. Flags are really convenient to craft, though. To make money-making more of a tedious activity. It doesn't do a very good job, though. It just adds to the tedium of the early game, late game it doesn't matter at all. Especially because the most expensive thing to do is buy vehicles. There's really nothing else that requires a ton of pixels.
