It's a new episode in my great adventure. I found this staff. The attack calls a rain of fire on my enemies and the special attack creates a zone that heal about as fast as a salve or medkit

The initial story route was what had Chucklefish consider the game no longer needed in EA. But the game still has a lot of things yet to be implemented. Not to mention, the removed stuff from the alpha/beta days will be re-added later. I think they want to hop on what Terraria has been doing, in that more and more updates will follow as we go on. No more experimental builds here and there, which has been the past 3 years (that includes loads of experimental combat and progression systems that were atrocious and good riddance for those to be gone), In any case, the past year was the real progress.

ACT guy here, surprised to see a thread again. I burnt myself out on the nightly, so nothing is really magical or new for me. That was a mistake.

What's everyone's favorite thing in the game? Pic unrelated and something I was working on before 1.0 dropped, but never finished. I'm fond of the desert biomes.

Is it not possible to use two grappling hooks at the same time anymore? I did that in older versions but can't get it to work in the current one.

For me its the crew. I have never liked flying solo in games like these, so its just amazing that I can adventure with a full ship of fellow explorers. I hope the whole system gets way more in-depth in the future.

Many things are still bare bones, but the crafting system interfaces, and the procedural generated weapons systems are pretty the only thing I found to be a finished product. Generated Enemies and Minibosses are still something that needs yet another tweak. The current absence of procedurally generated boss monsters is another thing that needs to be added ASAP.

This game suffers from a bad case of "what's the fucking point".

What's the fucking point of having pickaxes in the game at all? The matter manipulator is objectively better than all of them. What's the point of using manipulator modules to upgrade the MM? After you've finished upgrading it the item is useless. What's the point of half of the tech, it's useless. What's the point of going underground at all?

Also is anyone else not able to breath underwater/in space with the cold/hot EPPs?

After that would be raiding dungeons while underleveled. If you want a stationary turret pet that deploys faster than an actual turret, I highly recommend an Orbide from a hive biome. They have the same high attack as our giant birdfriends, but double the defense at the cost of not following you. If there are no hostiles nearby they just curl up into an egg to sleep. Gotta throw them at enemies like actual pokemon.

scanbro has a nice aoe attack but he has about 60% of the attack of giantbirdfriend and seemingly a lot less health. Also he has this tendency to ram enemies with his face and get murdered.
To anyone about to dirt ladder a giant flyer, remember each planet has a different one, and seemingly only one variety. Make sure it has a moveset you like, and if you're picky, cool looks.

I see. Is there any merit to having it on the workshop? I'm not really in it for the downloads, ratings, and views, since the mod was originally made from my spare time and stuff old /sbg/ requested. Plus, I had a bit of a stink with a few folks from the forums in the past about the bare tits, which thankfully ended in my favor (them giving up on their demand for censorship).

I haven't installed 1.01 yet. datamining, I count 96 different types of tenants configurations (npcs to popular villages you find?), and 40 different "tenant" types of npcs that are probably the ones you build houses for.

I see fourteen "crew" types of npc, including "penguin" and "penguinmerc". the 'janitor', outlaw, penguin, penguinmerc do not have a 'benefits' propertiy. the tailor doesn't have a benefits property either, but does have an "interactData" > "recruits.offerUniformUpdate" property.

I haven't tested this, but if I understand correctly, you can have as many pets on tethers as you want. dunno if they fight when they're on tethers, but it lets you show off pets that aren't in use. I just keep one flybro around because I'm emotionally attached to it and it kills things for me when I'm playing instruments.

They seem to fall off lategame unless you wear tank armor or catch one with naturally insanely high defence like an orbide. I recommend grabbing one who primarily attacks with range, the longer range the better.
Also if you find a healing staff you can heal them while freeing up the collar slot, but I keep a healing III collar on my combat pets anyway because I can't be bothered.

There's also some weird shit involving differences in OS and architecture (x64/x86) somehow making seeds do different things, but otherwise yeah.

Alot of things promised have been cut back, for example novakids are basically just a custom race mod with an entire armor and weapon tree but have basically no prescence in the actual game.

Pro-tip: Anti heat/burning food/items don't work against magma, I tried and getting my gear back was a pain.

The workshop storage in Fallout 4 has spoiled me on all this crafting, building bullshit. I don't want to sort through warehouses of shit I might eventually need for quests or crafting recipes and hand pick the components I need each time. I went casual with a hunger mod so I could carry it all but eventually even that fills up.

Does this game get any harder?
I just got to frozen planets and monsters are so ridiculously easy that I'm not even excited to find new gear anymore - I keep my old things just to have some sense of challenge when fighting. Everything dies in 1-3 hits and none of the randomly generated monsters seem to have special attacks besides just running at you really fast.

It's a shame too because combat seems like it could potentially be really fun.
