You know, I think the completely contradictory opinions on whether the monsters are either FUCKING OP PLS NERF or utter shit makes for a pretty interesting case.

Asymmetrical gameplay is a pretty unique thing to balance, after all.

I am really sad about the Parnell nerf here, I already am on the fence about playing him fairly often compared to Hyde or Markov.

Torvald is fun though, although was hoping for maybe increasing # of pellets per Shotgun blast to 7 instead of 6, or just increasing the damage by 1 again to make it a solid 10.

Already shaping up to be a funny patch as monsters are buffed across the board pretty much with perks and hunters are nerfed all around for the most part. Everything defensive is getting ticked down a notch.

How do you handle a Wraith? Its decoy does a lot of damage on its own, and I can never escape its lightning rape attack.

Kinda depends what role/hunter you're playing as. Assault is the same as usual, get up in the things face as much as possible and unload unless you're parnell or whatever. Like another poster said Hyde's toxic grenade is useful for helping deal with decoys.

For pretty much everyone else you want to keep your distance from it as much as possible while firing on it/doing your abilities to help the assault. Keep in mind Wraith has terrible actual health so what's most important in dome battles is staying alive and keeping others alive so assault can dish out as much damage as possible while you've got it trapped.

Hunters need to be able to know what monster they are against. Monster should have a short time to pick, then all Hunters know what monster they are against.

Some hunters are basically required to beat some monsters.

I play Cabot primarily and I have to agree with the meme tier list, he's not good. He steps into Trapper territory when a Trapper usually has 2 good skills to track already, not to mention everyone has Q to spot anyway. Though these don't make the Dust Tag redundant, it makes it not very good.

His 4 is obvious, it's nice.

His rifle is good because of the wall penetration, I've stopped monsters channeling armor when they're being bitch asses and hiding behind pillars and shit while in the dome.

His damage amp is good if you begin putting perks to stack it.

But he's definitely in the Not-Good tier range compared to Sunny or Hank because the monster already wrecks the hunter's shit so you really need that survivability, being 'offensive support' isn't too impactful because the Assault truly is the person who does the most damage.

And then they're deciding to nerf Cabot some.

Then the became a "defense matrix" and suddenly I can focus down assaults. This was a serious game changer, going into a stage 3 relay fight with assault at two strikes has made thegame a breeze. And they're making it easier.

The problem is that everyone complains about different things that are even often contradictory to each other based on their own anecdotal experience.

The game having quite the unusual mechanic to balance around means that it's very much murky whether the complaints are coming from players who actually know how to play their character or from players that decided to blame the game instead of themselves. Combined with the Perk system furthering the unequal starting ground for each match, the whole thing becomes a murky mess from a developer's perspective, and therefore the need for trial and error in balance patches.

I'd say give it a month or so and see where it goes, if it manages to retain the playerbase for that long.

Also, most pub Hunters really don't expect the Monster to go on the offensive even in Stage 2. If you see them after you from behind a huge pillar of sorts, see if there's any lone hunter in one of either side. Go around it and pounce him if you can, or just go wild and use your abilities on him, chances are by the time the whole team gets together your skills are off cooldown already.

If you're engaged in Stage 2 and the dome falls, I usually heal to full armor and take the offensive initiative against the Hunters. They expect you to be running, and in my experience this really sends them panicking, especially when the medic/support got blitzed and downed.

I think I just dodged something that could have been a real shitfest. There was someone with the name [unknown] but when I checked their name via steamprofile his name was henx and they had less than 8 hours in the game. And he was being paired with level 50 players and I couldn't see his in game level due to some shit bug with the No Preference option he had. Not unlikely that it was yet another hackerfag.
