Well, a good philosophy to keep in mind is that hands are a many-limbed entity that can be as hard to draw well as the rest of the body. It'll take some practice, maybe some guides.
Personally, I remember having a long phase of characters gripping things, it gave me something to do with the fingers that looked similar across many images, and still hid the hand a bit. I don't think I ever fully got the hang of it, can't draw a detailed one.

I'm not quite sure how to explain it. It's basically because of her youth, but not solely that.
It's just that I only realized this year that what I really want to do with my life is live off this creative urge I have in me, creating and then selling in order to continue creating more.
And while that sort of lifestyle is never easy, it's certainty easier for those not yet out of school, where everyone will say "Good for you for being a Painter/Musician/Writer/etc., keep working at that, you can get scholarships to college for that, where you'll be set on a path towards making a career of your art!"
And here I am, with a day job I fucking hate that exhausts me every day to the point where I don't have the energy or motivation to work on my craft to get to the point where people like it enough that I can live off it.
I guess what I'm saying is that I wish I was a armless Japanese girl with "supportive" teachers and parents.

I'm enjoying it a lot! There seem to be a lot of choices to make that aren't immediately obvious, which is interesting. It's a nice contrast with Shizu route which I played last year, where there's only one decision - I guess that's because Shizune is kinda dominant so Hisao just goes with the flow, but dealing with Rin is very disorientating and you never really know what to do so that's reflected in the gameplay of the routes.
Also there is something about getting a sympathetic hug from a girl with no arms that makes me want to either laugh or cry, and I don't know which yet.

I'm glad you ended up liking her route more and thinking it made sense, but that hasn't taken any affect for me, as far as I'm concerned the writing felt kinda sloppy on the whole and while I understand what they were going for, and would have enjoyed it were it executed well, to me it just wasn't.
I said it before as well, but a lot of KS came off like forced or ill paced drama and tension, or stupid shit happening because Hisao is dense as a black hole, and I feel like the latter half of Rin's route suffered the worst from all of this.Honourable shout out goes to midway through Shizune's route, where it goes from "you guy's are having fun and you banged" to "oh hey now she's avoiding you and misha is unhappy haha wow you suck"

For me KS is basically just a game made by fans, I dont think anyone there was a professional game dev, or a writer, so I would understand if it wasn't 10/10 louvre art, or a great masterpiece to heralded until the ends of time.
While I enjoyed Rin's route, and with the context I made, and all the mental gymnastics I pulled, it made sense, I can agree that I would've rather gone in an entirely different direction than how it did go.
For one, why did they rush her exhibit? Why did they make her take time off from school when theres a whole other term and even summer break? That felt like a plot device to pull them apart, rather than something that should've happened. They had no reason to make rin basically 24/7 it up, when she has multiple months until she leaves yamaku. Exams were around that time too, so taking her out class was retarded.
The more I think about the route though, the more I like it. I think the ending name, "Proof of Existence" is perfect for it.

Each route tells a different kind of story. Shizune's was a slice of life tale. Emi's was a typical high school romance. Hanako's was a coming of age story. Lilly's was an epic romance. Rin's was a convoluted opposites attract story. If you didn't like them, it's probably more because the style wasn't to your taste rather than bad writing.
