It's established that, to an extent, the rules are made up and the points don't matter. Caressing Prayer in DaS2 is just the Remedy sorcery where the power is being channeled in a different way. The description even mentions it might not be a true miracle.

People can make shit up. So long as they believe it's possible, it becomes possible. Magic is psyker ork bullshit.

I agree, so why do you think they are the most annoying? If anything I'd say rats with their occasional insta headbutt attack that beats any weapon's HA, or jailers for the fact that you can't just mindlessly breeze through the dungeon if you don't have a ranged weapon during NG+ or grinding characters

You can poisebreak them if you're using a weapon heavier than a curved sword. It usually requires a proper dodge or two as well as 150% of your stamina in attacks. I did Archpeak with a Morning Star, and there's better weapons for the job, but really the only time I had trouble with them is if I'm in a hurry or if I'm being attacked by something else.

Alright guys, we're back at it with a little series I like to call "The General Thread". First off, lets give a show of appreciation to our good ole /dsg/. Now a lot of times -- or should I say most of the time. Actually I cant even say that, the vast majority of times -- the primary form of posting in these threads are pictures. And that’s alright; thats cool and everything, but to turn around and uh... you know, disrespect others for not posting pictures... Well I only have one thing to say to hotshots like you: Get off it.

If you think that pictures are more important than all the writing styles, all the information, and uh... all the community contributions, well then I suggest you re-evaluate your posting style.

Now before any of you jokers from the reporting brigade jump on me, I am not dissing the usefulness of pictures. But until you can demonstrate for YOURSELVES, that you can have a successful and positive thread using ONLY images, then you cannot refute my beliefs. Besides, here in the brigade we like to do things a little differently.

Now it's funny, because every single high speed pasta reporter and every hotshot image poster who has come in here with their ridiculous accusations, not a single one has been able to demonstrate that images can be used as the primary form of communication. And that's that.

WARNING INCOMING AUTISM

So I've made 5 main builds so far but I have yet to find a playstyle that really fits. I've always had an aggressive style and normally like to have ranged options.

In DaS, my favorite build was my dex/int.
In DaS2 it was my espada/warped sword powerstance
In Bloodborne my arcane wheel build

But, DaS3 I have yet to find my favorite build. I have a dex/int, quality, str/pyro, pure mage, and pure pyro but none seem to vibe just right like my previous favorite builds. I have way more success just playing passive or spamming spells endlessly than I would normally have if I tried my old aggressive tactics from prior souls games. Fuck man, 3 is just taking the fun out of PVP. How do you guys choose your favorite/most reliable build? Because I have yet to find mine and it's kind of bothering me.

Is it even possible to play hyper aggressive without using meme-meta weapons? Is it possible to be aggressive with magic?

It's because reactive/passive playstyles are the best in 3 by far due to the way poise/hyperarmor works so attacking first is always a bad idea.

Really the only things you can be aggressive with are Curved Swords, Katana running attacks, and quickstep spam on ultra users. And even then those are all better at reactive play.

What builds? There's like 5. Quality, Quality/Luck, Luck, Dex/Int, and Faith. Strength builds are a victim of this whole passive play bullshit to the point where you're at a huge disadvantage because everyone punishes everything and only moves in to punish mistakes. DaS3 PvP has the most shallow mechanics out of all the Souls games save for maybe Demon's Souls, saved only by how frantic the encounters can be and general quality of life improvements to things that have needed improvement for ages (crossbows, throwing knives, firebombs, etc). Sure, the other games had flaws, but at least it has more mechanical depth than "pick your weapon and that's your build".

This is part of why glaives are ridiculous. They're the second fastest HA weapons, right after Hollowslayer and Drakeblood, which means the window to actually interrupt the startup of their HA is effectively nonexistent.

The effect doesn't work in PvP, but that doesn't matter. The Hollowslayer is superior to the Drakeblood anyway for a number of weapons. It has longer range, with the Drakeblood being shorter then most straight swords. And it has thrusting attacks across its 1H and 2H moveset in both R2s and rolling attacks. The 2H thrusts also have hyperarmor that starts very early in the attack; a fully charged 2HR2 with Leo Ring is enough to deal over 1000 damage to most players easily if it hits. The Drakeblood in comparison only has a 1HR2 thrust that has shit range and has little to no hyperarmor. Also the Hollowslayer has pure physical damage compared to the Drakeblood but that's obvious.

I forgot to mention too the Drakeblood only does good damage in PvP when it is buffed with Gold/Pale Pine resin, and even then you're only hitting around 300 damage at most while buffed compared to top tier greatswords that will deal consistently more.

Hollow builds are actually tamer than Refined builds IMO. You get more AR (that varies between 2 more (CCS) to 17 more (washing pole) with the plus of more bleed, but that's it. With quality, you can spare points into vitality, getting higher defense/better armor/better sub30% options.

The only huge offender of hollow builds is the 2kat, but that's because it has a broken weapon art that guarantees a 1300 dmg combo. However, it also does that as a regular quality weapon.

What I said still applies retard. The reason why Card Captor is meta is because if you get hit twice it's game over. However, shorter weapons are still trying to shoehorn themselves in the meta for one reason or another, the thing is that Washing Pole has retard length and a couple of Glaives can fucking demolish you.

Card Captor and Washing Pole both being the superlative meta weapons is an example of DaS3's passive gameplay in a game where getting hit once means getting hit again for a billion damage regardless of your armor.

Glaives are really strong, I agree. That's why I'm including a x-bow in my build.

And the Washing Pole can't combo, it's just a general hit and run tool in a game that running is really fucking strong.

DaS2 has
>biggest variety of weapons and useful weapon movesets, as opposed to das3 which reuses the shitty boring movesets from das1 for most weapons

>i-frames on backsteps adds another way to avoid hits and switch up your game up, riskier than rolling but also comes with a bigger reward since you recover faster and can do a running attack right away
>shield slap is more useful than das3's slow kick, which isn't a guaranteed guard break like in das2 but is also not as fast as the kick in das1
>roll cancels, attack cancels, delayed and sped up attacks, and sped up parries added another layer of depth to the combat for higher skill players, are the one of the reasons pretty much everything is viable in das2, and are all missing in das3
>magic is actually viable, even as your main weapon, not just due to the high damage but also the variety of spells and spell cancels
>poise system is a perfect combination of poise and hyper armor, wherehaving some poise might just let you shrug off a single hit from a rapier, but gets increased when swinging a big weapon to the point where you can poise through a katana, as opposed to das3's dumbed down hyper armor system with no poise where R1 spam is rampant and you have hope your opponent is dumb enough to run right into your swing, and good luck doing that when you can attack cancel
