Use the AoE on the Flashbang against Genji instead of throwing it at him directly. It also doubly helps if you have teammates shooting at him.

McCree is great against Genji for the simple reason that you are +90% guaranteed to shut down Dragonblade if he tries to use it on a group you're moving with (the absolutely hardest to counter to Genji is a dedicated Winston though).

Genji gets such an enormous power boost from dragonblade that shutting down that tool in itself is extremely valuable.

McCree's problems right now is that fth isn't working as intended (which is honestly a minor issue) and that his ranged dps tends to be lacking. Blizzards 30 units fix was a step in the right direction but they overbuffed him.

Learn to follow a moving target.
Attack enemies from weird angles, ideally while they're distracted. in most cases this is enough for getting a kill. then you get a healthpack off them which should be enough to either continue killing nerds or disengage.

Adding more heroes rather than trying to shoehorn heroes into roles they aren't actually designed to perform might actually be better solution for now.

For instance the lack of healing support heroes makes it really hard to balance the supports in the game.

Lucio and Mercy work ridic well together. Lucio covers all the little fuckers that run off, like Tracers and Genjis, while Mercy focuses on tanks and people with generally higher health that she can actually follow places. Lucio adds mobility to team when they don't need group heals (like when only one or two people are hurt) and Mercy tops off the hurt folks. Lucio breaks it down during major team fights, and Mercy rezzes the folks that die as needed.
Zenyatta and Lucio also work really well together, because he makes the little robot man go fast and keeps him healthy while Zen works on headshotting bitches. Zen's ult is super good for final pushes, plus minor team fights where Lucio's ult would be a waste.

Sym is just Sym, I dunno.

Mercy and Zenyatta are good together because they can help the team mow down hoes. Damage boost + Discorb = instadeath.
Two Lucios is always good, one on speed and one on heal, so you get a good mobile team.
Two Mercys can be good too, depending. I find two Mercys pretty useul for Attacking on maps like Anubis and Vodka Industries, but otherwise very dependent on the rest of the team build.

I remember when the first rumors of the story were coming out, and it sounded like "All these dudes were part of a superhero dream team, it collapsed, and they are basically mercenaries now"

I would have loved to seen that angle, the "overwatch was a mistake" side - but what we got was a bunch of people upset they were too good at protecting lives from killer robots - because now we view those robots as equals, and as always being equals, instead of an emergent species and growing pains of humanity as a whole.

Okay, I will say, I do get thanks from people sometimes, it's not super uncommon, but it doesn't happen a lot. I don't mind, though. I get no one wants to take the extra moment to 'Thanks!' when there's people to kill.
That said, I do tend to pocket people who are super polite AND good. I found a McCree that would 'Thanks!' every time I'd heal him, even a little, or revive him.
