Once you get good you'll realize Tracer needs to be removed.
Genji isn't shit against a team with good communication and who can aim, he gets absolutely demolished any time he tries to pull his backline shit.
Reaper keeps tanks in check and his frustrating rng range at 10m+ makes him food for any ranged character when his wraith form is on cooldown.
Tracer however has dps rivaling Reaper with twice the mobility, twice the range, and an ult that doesn't need you to expose yourself to fire for 3 seconds.

Genji relies on unawareness to be able to move freely, and when you hit the point where all you're playing against is 4-6 man stacks and streamers where literally everyone has a mic and is making callouts, Genji is dealt with almost immediately.
Whereas there isn't a fucking think you can do about Tracer zipping past your tanks and headshotting the shit out of your Mercy before recalling the fuck out of there.

I think it's more that the enemy team waits for Mercy to burn her ult before they go in and blow their load.

I do that all the time. I spend all game flanking and murdering their Mercy and save my ults for her specifically, or try to bait out her ult before using it.

So I think the answer is either Mercy or her team or both are better than you, which is how they pull that off. That or your team is a bunch of retards who give her lots of opportunities to just sit around and wait for quads. Who knows, maybe just suiciding when 1-3 teammates are dead is a viable strategy when Mercy has her ult up and they're just beating you with cheese.

On the other hand, because of Favor the Shooter, shitty connection can help you land hooks in the first place because that's more frames that people are in the open

And just remember that nobody hooks 'em all. Sometimes your team kills them before your hook lands, sometimes they use an ability at the last second - you can't let a low hook count discourage you.

You can see it all the time in Dota 2 where 6k MMR comp players would be carrying shithead 3k-4k players against a stack of 5ks or something.

The thing is though, the comp players actually carry their team reliably 1v9 because Valve separates party MMR and solo MMR despite shoving them together in the same queue. It's still a stupidly unfair, poorly designed system, but the good players still manage to succeed.

Overwatch's system is pretty much exactly the same. Every time you get mouthbreathers on your team, you're going to have to work extra hard to squeeze out a win.

Whenever you see a turret or room of symmetra sentries, run in, bubble, M2 to destroy all of them with no aim. Now you have 50 charge and your team is safe from turrets. ItsFreeCharge.com

There's just no point in playing competitive

The rewards are ugly as fuck and require a ridiculous amount of matches to unlock. This game has really solid weapon design. Why the fuck would I want to spray paint it gold.

The matches are so fucking long you grow sick of your team and the enemy players, with goofy sudden death mechanics and glacial 3 out of 5 rounds.

The other players are complete dicks, and will ruin any chance of fun with infantile screaming

I think I'll just stick to Quickplay and actually enjoy myself.

I wanted to grind out every single unlock for every single hero but after looking at the selections, I think I'm going to stop after I get McCree's and Junkrat's golden weapons (if I ever finish). The rest look like shit or are just half-done paint jobs. Most of them look stupid, are a second duller shade of gold over half the surface area, or aren't gold at all. It's really disappointing.

The Reapers can't just charge in from the front. Even if you dodge/bait the hooks, there are two of them. You need to support the Reapers well enough so that they can actually go in and flank. One the Roadhogs are actually removed from the objective, they won't come back because the Reapers will keep killing them on their way back.

Wait, it does LESS damage in mid air? Well that explains a lot of what I've experienced.
It always feels like the enemy needs to be within six inches of the damn thing to get killed by it, as I always try to have it fall in and explode from above to nullify the cover the payload provides.
