It's not like they have a better alternative, the North is not exactly the nicest place for magic users to live in if Rad or Emhyr take over. They get to either be kept on a short leash or be massively exterminated, with Dijkstra they could have a chance I guess.

Tancred undoubtedly wants their power on his side, but I do believe his means to achieve that are far more peaceful. The situation in the North works in his favor and there is no need for him to further oppress them into submission.

Tancred and the mages have a common interest in making sure their cooperation be long lasting and prosperous. They share a common goal of making Kovir strong and independent, resisting the pressures from the South. Leaving mages to be self organized, working for the benefit of the kingdom makes sense and that's where Triss fits. She says so herself in B&W, all the mages work together for the benefit of the Kovir, there is no schemes or drama, there is no need for it.

Mages already know what it's like to be persecuted, giving them their freedom is the best way to keep them motivated and secure their loyalty.

We like the Witcher one better mostly, in these threas. The Empress Ending I'd say has some great bitter sweet feelings first run through but later on doesn't stand up to scrutin. Whoops, should have read this before responding. If the Blood and Wine epilogue is the new standard for CDPR romance content I'd rather they cut it completely. That dialogue was awful. They butchered Yen and Geralt, especially (Triss has always been super sappy so that was less noticeable).

Game didn't need more romance content. It's redundant. It needed more character and plot content.

Hard choices and a strong story is the point of Witcher games, not "which waifu you want to cuddle".

It diverts resources from other areas that I'd rather them work on. CDPR put out a rapid emergency patch to add more Triss dialogue (and unnecessary Yen dialogue no one really asked for). They continue to pump out fanservice from this example, whether romance related or not. Yet we're still left with a ragged finale for the main plot.

Bioware already exists. We don't need another one.

CDPR has proven that they are willing to break the lore just to pander to waifufags. Not to mention the time and resources spent on waifu shit could be used on something more worthwhile.

Also, the same thing was said about Bioware in earlier times. Who cares if they focus more on waifus, you can just ignore it. Now look at DAI with its 9 romances and garbage everything else. It's a slippery slope and it would be a shame for CDPR to go down that path.

I probably shouldn't have used the phrase "pandering to waifufags". That may have been what started it but now they're pandering in general. Touissant is full of it. It almost doesn't feel like a Witcher game to me.
