>The girl that's actually a man/was a man.

>The character that's actually a robot/android. Blade Runner ripoff about their humanity and soul.

>Time travel. Bonus points if the time travel has no rules, or violates its rules.

>Supernatural elements worming their way into a grounded narrative, sometimes with no warning.

>The climax of the story revolves around the power of love and friendship.

>Numerous bad ends that are either canon in alternate universes or ignored.

>Several large twists that make next to no sense under close inspection, or make the reader say 'huh?' immediately. These come at the end.

>Characters dumping wikipedia articles about philosophy or thought experiments and everyone but one character already knows the details, or people quoting books they have no right to have read.

>A person on the protagonist's side turns out to be the source of all their suffering. 'Even my immediate family bought it!'

>Someone is brutally and needlessly killed and or dismembered for shock value. Usually done by a character that had no foreshadowing as a potential killer, or is too small for the task. Said killer is typically prompted by petty bullshit.

>Seemingly innocuous choices have ridiculous outcomes, like above.

>Absolutely insane amounts of fluff: dialogue scenes and subplots that go nowhere and contribute nothing to the main plot or the character's conflicts. [It's a beach/cooking episode. Hermione fighting for elf rights.] Simply portraying two people together in the same room is not relationship development. They must be tested, or it's fluff.
Literally hours, or entire novellas dedicated to nothing simply to increase the word count and thus the writer's paycheck.

>Music played when silence would enhance the drama.

>Protagonist is too pure hearted or kind. They're unrealistically willing to socialize with the number of people they do, in the manner they do.

Help me fill this out, /evn/. I want to subvert or deconstruct each one.

Write a story about a protagonist that seems too pure and kindhearted to be true, but is actually a girl pretending to be a trap to extort money from trap enthusiasts. She carries around a giant boombox that plays mood music 24/7. All her trap enthusiast friends are also giant posers that say intelligent things they found on the internet to sound cool without understanding what they mean. There are choices that seem extremely serious that lead to silly and meaningless conclusions. Every time characters start to relax and live like normal people someone screams at them to stop and get back to the plot. Every character remembers any bad ends that happen and will talk about how unpleasant they were when you advance the game after having played them. This is due to time travel with complex and thoroughly explained rules contained in a giant infodump. The world is full of supernatural, but a completely mundane plot takes the stage with no warning. A cute girl who you would expect to be a yandere, upon encountering a scene where those characters would be expected to snap, is actually a genuinely sweet girl and forgives the person for their minor slight. At the end, it's revealed that all the protagonist's problems were caused by a random stranger who has not been involved in the story at all before this point, but the characters point out that this makes no sense and ignore the revelation.

Here's your new bestseller, no need to thank me.

>>
>>148538975
i very rarely see evns that are lewd
certainly i've read a few with no romance, they just need to have some other compelling hook to catch my interest
>>
>>148538975
It's easier to get interest in a romance/lewd game. Many evns aren't written well, so at the promise of romance/sex will keep people invested.

Look at Roommates from Winter Wolves. The gameplay and dialogue were average at best, but the dating sim aspect made it successful.

People love romance options. They want to date the character they like the most. And to fell like their input makes a difference and keeps them engaged with the story.

I highly doubt that anyone looked at it and went 'Oh, gosh, this game has diverse love interests, that kills my ladyboner'

The biggest problem I've heard from everyone is just that it's boring. Always Remember Me may be stupid but it has that dramatic plot starter to catch people's interest. C-14 doesn't even pretend to have a plot. The official Steam blurb is "C-14 Dating is an otome dating sim that combines archaeology, friendships and love." How dull is that?

At least promise us buried treasure, or a find that will shatter our beliefs about history, or SOMETHING. Instead it's all "Realistic college semester abroad! You might dig up an old pot or something!" It sounds totally dull.

>I highly doubt that anyone looked at it and went 'Oh, gosh, this game has diverse love interests, that kills my ladyboner'
If there was a dating sim where you could date only guys in wheelchairs or who are blind would you want to play it?
>>
>>148545938
It spent about 60% of the time reading like a textbook case on archeology. It wasn't woven in there, it just broke in and shutdown whatever the plot (which was vapid at best) was trying to do. It's a shame because the sudoku-like puzzles were rather fun.
>>
>>148545938

People are willing to put up with huge shit for good LIs. Having bad LIs on top of a boring plot was the nail in the coffin.
>>
>>148546376
If you could date ONLY guys in wheelchairs, it wouldn't be diverse, it would be a very particular fetish.

We've had some entertaining conversations on /evn/ in the past talking about blind love interests and NTR, iirc.
>>
Clearly we need an otome game set in a mental asylum where you're a nurse dealing with different flavors of cute fetishized crazy.

The delusional fellow who insists he's someone famous/important
The charming sociopath who seems surface-normal and will absolutely eat your liver if he gets the chance
The suicidal one with a tragic past who needs you to become his reason to live
The guy with the hairtrigger temper who becomes obsessed with you and beats your rivals to death

No doubt, but EVN was traditionally low on girl-dating games before the past few years, so there's a very small pool to have to look for +angel +demon in.

The Rising Angels series has characters with wings but I don't know if they count as angels or demons. Toko has angels and demons in it but no romance choices.

I don't know what the person you're talking to meant, so I'm just trying to guess for myself. I suppose I'd think it might mean a certain kind of predictability, while still being well-written enough that it doesn't feel like you're just being buried under a groaning pile of cliche.

Strictly Formula. You can look at it and know what you're going to get, you don't have to worry about a massive shocking swerve in plot just to be edgy. The writer isn't trying to impress you with how clever they are, and instead just lets you enjoy all your favorite tropes and hang out with the cutie of your choice. You can relax and be pandered to. Everything is okay.

But I could be wrong.

Because you're all retards with too high expectations. You want the best for the cheapest, and what do you get? Artists who burn out, new artists who don't know what their art is worth and end up burning the fuck out, artists who have way more clients than just you so they can just straight up choose to ignore you if they want, artists who have so much commission money or inner toil that they completely forget about you. You get what you pay for, and if the price is too good to be true, it normally is. Keep getting burnt though, it gives me a good laugh.

>I wonder why they never seem to complain
Because you assume that they're meek and subservient and content and therefore completely ignore the asians screaming about SJW issues and cultural appropriation, and just assume all those posters are white/black.

Seriously, one of the most obnoxious justice trolls I've personally encountered is an angry asian guy who makes absolutely everything about race.
>>
>>148573502
>never seem to complain.
they're currently taking over the worlds movie industry so why would they? look at how many hollywood movies released in asia first this year before domestic, and included cameos for famous asian actors to help the white hero for a random scene.
>>
>>148573636
They'll stuck them there anyway, complaining or not.
>>
>>148573636
That's not specific to Japanese people when it comes to the workplace. Most workplaces in the US, you do not want to get a reputation as a troublemaker. You won't be stuck in a cubicle, your ass will just be fired.

The 'no sticking out' thing is more divergent in Japanese schooling culture, as best as I can tell. American schoolkids want to stand out as much as possible.
>>
>>148573665
They're too busy doing black things and socializing to be homestuck nerds who would apply to facebook. Most blacks I know love to hang out and talk at eachother in very loud voices.

>>148573636
American Asians can be very outgoing and tough. I think a bigger reason is that they are largely highly educated as a whole, and many of them have top jobs in their fields.
>>
>>148573892
>look at how many hollywood movies released in asia first this year before domestic, and included cameos for famous asian actors to help the white hero for a random scene.
tell me, then, how many? what proportion? Last I heard, asians were still under-represented in Hollywood vs population, although not by much. IIRC they get a good number of background roles but are very rarely made leads.
>>
>>148574031
Yeah but in Japan there is actually a cultural thing about not breaking the pace/disturbing others. People in other cultures are just being pragmatic, and will snap if pressed too hard.
>>
I want to say it's whites and asians and then latinos and blacks as a group, but latinos actually work hard instead of complaining all day.

most disney movies including the marvel franchise and animated movies. china banned mad max fury road and it's been cited as why that movie bombed in terms of income, even though it did well domestically.

antman is also getting a sequel soon just because china liked it, unlike guardians of the galaxy coming out in 2020, because china didn't find it funny.
>>
>>148574446
Illegal Mexicans with no choice don't count.
>>
>>148575186
That's what you do after a hard day's work. I've never seen a latino family that hasn't worked their asses off during the week and partied on the weekends. The latinos I worked with were also some of the hardest working people and most honorable that I've ever worked with. Also have worked with many great black and white people. Asians are almost always a little fucked up in some way if you get to know them. Something wrong with those fuckers.
>>
>>148575186

Fun fact: The popular image of the drunk mexican lying on a field is from a time where most mexicans where field workers, so they started their day before sunrise and finished around the time most other people began to work. By then, the field workers were already resting and/or drinking.

>>

It depends on how well you know them and how well you can deal with problems with them. I know someone who hired a friend's girlfriend as an artist, and when she started being a serious problem as an artist it caused problems for the friendship

Not him but I don't think you are getting it right, at least for some of us. I'm writing a very long story (I like to think it does not have unnecesary padding, since every event advances either plot, worldbuilding or char development), so writing only when I feel in top condition is not very efficient. Sometimes I need to force myself to write or it will take me forever to finish. Everything is already planned out, so it's kind of a "mechanic" thing in most cases (not really, but I only need to worry about style, not thinking what happens next). I can always go back and edit the more delicate parts later for extra detail.

In this situation, worrying a bit about wordcount is understandable if you are taking into consideration release dates, your artist deadlines, etc.

Right now my daily goal is a minimum of 100 words, which ends up being more like 300-600 on a good day. I write with confidence knowing I can always go in and chop stuff out during the first major editing phase. But in practice the low daily goal means I don't have to add filler to succeed and I'm also touching my story every day.

It's been great for me.
>>
>>148634331
But that's assuming people are charging $5 for 50 hour VN/RPGs... There are some perfectly fine VNs that are only 2-3 hours long that are priced cheaply to reflect this. Not every story needs to be a behemoth - in fact, I'd argue a lot of JVNs could actually use some serious cutting and trimming.
This is such a stupid argument I don't even.
>>
>>148634495
>Someone disagrees with me! He must be an idea guy. Or maybe a manager.

Note that I did not say you couldn't put anything interesting in a $5 game. I said you couldn't put interesting OPTIONS.

The original asker was asking how long they had to make the game to justify a $5 price tag. This implies up front that they do not have the resources to make even a medium-length game, they need to make something short. They are probably intending to go less than 60K script length.

You can tell a good, satisfying story in 60k. However, if you want to have five love interests and good/bad/neutral ends for each of them, that is suddenly much more challenging. There's not enough room there to develop that many branches. You might try going the Voltage route, where the player choices are all apparently irrelevant (one line of dialog changes, tops) until the very end and then fork it on points scored, but I personally find that dissatisfying as a gameplay experience.

There is not enough room in a super-short game to have a wide variety of story outcomes and have them all feel substantial, well-crafted, and meaningful.
>>
>>148634709
I think you missed the thread of the discussion, friend.

>There are some perfectly fine VNs that are only 2-3 hours long that are priced cheaply to reflect this.

Yes, absolutely. I do not disagree with this.

The person I was replying to seemed to be saying you could afford to put everything and the kitchen sink into a $5 game and still have a sustainable business. That, I disagree with.

The point was, which you are failing to understand, is that money shouldn't dictate your vn. You're dismissing the passion people have for their project, the things many people do without any money at all going into their project. What if he ends up in a free team, providing him even more support? If your product boils down to money you are already creating a bad product.

A story doesn't need to be super short because of money, you can still have those five love interests with little money - it's if you actually care about your product enough to do that.
>>
>>148637843
>is that money shouldn't dictate your vn
Naivety: the post.

Money decides whether you live or die, and how.

Free teams hardly ever last more than a few months, let alone complete anything. If you want to get a quality project done, money is literally the main deciding factor.
>>
>>148637843
Hmm I suppose I agree to some extent, but... if you want to make a VN w 5 love interests and a lot of environments, you need to pay for the art and bgs (provided you can find somebody who will do it for free, but... what are the odds of somebody not invested in the project taking on this much work for no repayment?). I suppose it's different if you do the art and writing and coding and music yourself - then you can be as ambitious in scope as you want - but if you can only do 1 or 2 of these things, you'll need to get other people on board, and this will almost inevitably cost money... And, even if you love your project, you'd have to be some kind of moron (or some kind of millionaire) to sink a load of money into something if you're planning to release it for free, or for super cheap.

If you want to make a long VN on a low budget and release it for free/cheap, you'll need to cut corners somewhere. Otherwise, it's not really do-able... So yeah, while I think money shouldn't be the most important factor in creating something, it definitely is a factor, and it's a factor that'll impede the quality of your final product. You need to be realistic, too.
>>
>>148637843
I understood your point, that's why I snarked about people willingly donating years of their lives to make an epic game for nothing more than beer money.

Sure, it's possible. It has happened. But it's not sustainable, and not sensible to expect it. Sadly a lot of people DO think they can get away with demanding free labour "for exposure" and throw massive strops when people they've solicited aren't interested.

You can do a volunteer-only project. That's not an evil thing to do. But if you lie to people about the payment and then suddenly say that they should be glad just for the opportunity, or demand only the highest-tier skill levels apply for your volunteer gig, or ask people directly to 'volunteer' for your project and yell at them when they explain they don't work for free, those are problems.

No. Comfy is SoL shit. Your definition still has room for more dramatic plots. Comfy is basically watching people go around and doing generally enjoyable things, but well written enough for it to not be terribly boring. The point is to imagine yourself enjoying this nice comfy situation. Though some people will find it boring no matter what.

>>

It's kind of dumb, since if you're linking to a site/videos you don't control, they might not stay there. Launching browser windows without user permission is legally dodgy in some jurisdictions, and intentionally trying to sync music to your game that you don't have the rights to do so is still a licensing violation.

Either license a soundtrack or let people play whatever music they want. Don't try to fake a soundtrack.

It's true that there's a certain separation, but good polished-3D becomes invisible to most players' eyes and therefore less distracting than a drawn background.

It would be nice to see more games where the sprites occasionally were drawn into the background, though. Like when a character goes behind the bar and has a special sprite for that, becoming part of the scene.
>>
>>148692182
It can go either way, I just hate it when styles clash so obviously. I'm just not really a fan of blatant 3D in VNs regardless of how "nice" it might look unless the entire VN is 3D and it all looks cohesive.

>It would be nice to see more games where the sprites occasionally were drawn into the background, though. Like when a character goes behind the bar and has a special sprite for that, becoming part of the scene.
My project is based on interacting with sprites moving around within the background and performing different activities. That's probably made me more sensitive to backgrounds than most.

>and therefore less distracting than a drawn background
Not sure what you mean by this unless the drawn background is low quality or is also done in a very contrasting style compared to the sprites.

Right. On its own it definitely looks nice, but when you know that the style of the sprites that would be overlayed on top of it won't look anything like that, it brings it down for me.
In terms of quality imagery, I also greatly prefer pic related.

Mostly that it's 'standard' and therefore ignored in the way that GUI is ignored.

Obviously mistakes in a more hand-drawn background will stand out, but even if the background is fine within its style, a really weird-style background tends to keep reminding the eye that you're looking at art. Just a mild immersion thing. Not all hand-drawn background art is weird though, of course.

>Dining Room, with window seat

>The focus of this image might be more on the window seat than on the long tables, to avoid having to make it too clear just how many seats there are at the tables. All the girls at the school eat together, and there's probably at least two long tables lined with nice chairs (cushioned seats, carved-open backs), all in dark wood. Any table we see should NOT be set, since most of the time when we're in this room, it's because a girl is sitting in the window seat and thinking rather than because there's a meal happening.

>Out the window we might see a blurry version of some of the street graphics, or something? It's definitely cloudy outside. I would prefer to try and distract attention from what's outside the window. There might be curtains, gapping just enough that it's obvious girls DO look out through them, but stopping us from seeing what's out there.

random background description, although this leaves out all the earlier discussions on overall game style that therefore didn't need repeating here.

Are you the anon who didn't care for the unnatural hair color and 5head, along with a few other things? I've come too far and I like her too much for it to really be viable to change anything at this point, but do you think the design is more a matter of taste or do you think it's genuinely bad? Personally I think she is great, but I think the eyebrows in the colored picture are a little much. They detract from her appeal. You can have big eyebrows that don't look funky. Some people might like it though, so do what you want.

>Are you the anon who didn't care for the unnatural hair color and 5head, along with a few other things?
Yeah that was me. Don't take it too hard, it's just a matter of taste to me. I think it's the combination of size and shape of the brows and huge forehead that really sets me off.

I can definitely see your point with eyebrows. Both of those character's eyebrows were experiments I kind of just ended up running with. I've always been a fan of big/unusual eyebrow giant forehead type characters, but I can see how the splits would be odd. Experimenting with them a bit more or toning them down shouldn't be too much work though. Thanks for the input!

>>148704461
>sued

>>
>>148704598
Keep them big if you want, but I would go more traditional instead of too unique as far as eyebrows go. Usually a few styles look good, and anything outside of those just make the character look a bit odd. You know how someone with shaved eyebrows just looks crazy funky odd? It's the same kinda thing here. Eyebrows ground a person more than you realize. Stylizing eyebrows properly is an artform in itself. I think you would be wise to change them if you're looking for more people to be receptive to the character. The hairstyle is already out there. Adding the eyebrows is just one step too far, but that's just my opinion. I think doing what you want is most important. I wouldn't steer you wrong though. I love large eyebrows and include them on most of my characters. I just go with the more traditional big eyebrows that have been tried and tested. Good luck.
>>
>>148706594
While I'm creating this more for fun than to satisfy an audience, this sounds like solid advice regardless. I'm sure if I put a bit more thought and effort into it I can come up with something I like even more.
> I just go with the more traditional big eyebrows that have been tried and tested.

>>
>>148722675
Am I not young and hip enough to know what plotges are or is that a typo?
>>
>>148723486
It`s a word made up of "plot" and "ge", meaning "plot" and "game". That comes from names like Eroge, made up of "Ero" and "Game", Kamige, meaning "God" and "Game", and so on.
Add an s for the plural and you get plotges,

Games which focus on the plot, mainly in contrast to moege that focus on cute girls doing cute things.
>>
>>148722675
Date Warp is more about plot than romance and it's cheap on Steam until Monday.
From the freeware games in the OP, Cupid and The Censor are very story-focused.
I didn't play Lucid9 so I don't know if it counts, I think it's got a ton of filler around its plot but I could be wrong

Don't try to hire a writer off LSF. Look into actual writing sites and freelancers, preferably with experience you can look at.

The quality of people offering writing services on LSF is sadly abysmal. There are thousands of people who would love to work writing in games that you can find elsewhere. Most are awful, of course, but you need to fish in a bigger pool to have a better chance of a good match. Try the IGDA game writer's SIG.
>>
>>148782741
>Look into actual writing sites and freelancers
the only thing concerning about those is:
>working with someone who possibly doesn't understand the limitations of VN
>finding someone who can write a waifu game not some editorial column

i'll check that SIG place out, though the first article i see is encouraging writers to charge .25c-.50c per word.

>>148783997
You're definitely going to have to sift through people who don't understand what you're doing and/or have insane concepts of value, but there's also plenty of hungry students who play games so you might find someone eventually. I know a couple of indie VNs have hired people that way and had much better results than LSF.

I could go on for days. I'll just give one example. Some guy was begging me to draw female circumcision pictures for him, and I refused. He went on to post a huge rant about how shitty of a person I was and block me from viewing his account. Then his friends come and send me threat messages. One of them thought he was an actual dragon and said he would rip me in half and shit down my exposed holes or some weird stuff, and went on for a few paragraphs about how he was going to ruin my art career forever. The admins got involved somehow and the circumcision guy started begging me to make pictures for him again. This is one instance of many. When I say many, I mean hundreds. Furries are sometimes weird. Very weird. The shit I got asked to draw for people. The shit people begged me to draw for them for free. Shitty artists with zero skill wanting to trade their 10 minute mspaint pictures for my art that took days to complete. I'm not bragging or saying I'm an amazing artist or anything, but grade school kids put some of them to shame when it comes to art.

It's a commentary about how BPO industries here in my country harbor high STD rates and single mothers. There's also a good shortage of men in such industries, with most BPOs being staffed by homos and women. Sometimes I ask myself, "where did all the men go?" because, really, there's only a few.

Highway Blossoms end of story achievements are And they all lived happily ever after… and ...including the trio. 84.3% of people started a new game and 41.3% are recorded as having finished the game. Meaning just under half the people who started the game actually finished it.

I don't know what to call it. I haven't thought of a title yet.
I've got my template tested and working with all the functionality I need (which isn't much because it's just a simple branching VN with additional dialogue based on conditional values) as well as a fair few test scripts.
Once I've got my placeholder character portraits, I'm going to be putting the first act together into a rough beta demo for some feedback. Until then, it's finishing off the last seven scenes I need to outline in better detail and doing draft scripts to be implemented in RenPy.

As someone whose lifetime earnings from VN writing total five figures, and who has worked with (and occasionally chats with) writers who have earnings in the four-figure range, my advice would be to put up a job posting, because we'll find you more easily than you find us.

As a writer, the "I am a writer, please hire me" section of LSF has been nigh useless for me because of the sheer amount of noise in that forum. You get buried under a ton of absolute garbage, and unlike artwork, it requires more than just a glance for people to sift through the cruft. The result of this is that the clients that you'd like to work with don't actually browse the "I am a writer" forum.

Clients that are terrible to work with, however, LOVE to browse the "I am a writer" forum and will not hesitate to contact you. The majority of these people have a "partially written script," which they want you to work around, which is 1) more work than just starting from scratch, 2) worse because the style/cadence of what they have won't match, and 3) usually just an excuse for them to pay you less, because "I already wrote part of the script for you."

The other reason I don't have an open "hire me" form is because I tend to only work on projects that I think will be a good match for me, and for that reason it makes more sense for me to go to clients based on their listings than for clients to come to me. When I was starting off I did things the other way around, and felt like an ass whenever I rejected a client and said "This doesn't really look like my cup of tea, but feel free to get in touch again if you start a different project based on a different idea!

Can I get some fully English translated visual novels? I haven't really played too many VNs. I enjoy G Senjou no maou's main route only, Katawa shoujo, and was let down by Ourai no Gahkthun. I've tried a few other VNs, but quit after a bit because of how boring they are, all of them being a sort of SoL.
I'm looking for a good Action-Adventure and/or mystery VN with romance. Thanks.

That's exactly what they do. I'd wager the people who buy it aren't the sort that care about the steam achievements and just pop in a save file so they can access the h-scenes.

If you skip through the text you'd still unlock the achievements. You don't have to do anything special to unlock them. That's why crazy achievement hunters will buy even terrible VNs when they're cheap, so they can put the game on skip and add another 100%-completed game to their account in a matter of minutes.
>>
>>148844447
>I've tried a few other VNs, but quit after a bit because of how boring they are, all of them being a sort of SoL.
then why on earth are you looking for more japanese-written VNs when they're notorious for being padded to hell and back? If you don't love filler you should switch to doujin games or western indies, who aren't trying to justify a $60 price tag by adding more navel-gazing.

How about English BL/yaoi visual novels? I'm the developer of Sentimental Trickster and have a playable demo here:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sybpress/sentimental-trickster-english-bl-yaoi-visual-novel
The protagonist may look like just another cute and silly bottom, but I tried to make him different from what you usually see in BL. The demo will take only 1 hour to finish and all the players have told me it's really fun so far. I'd also appreciate constructive criticism (if the campaign is funded, I'll hire a professional artist to help me with the graphics). Thank you all!

No one ever really posts progress here, let's be honest. You sometimes get things like
>I wrote 3k words today!
>I found an artist!
>I had a good idea!
>I finished a route!
But you rarely get any actual solid information on what they're actually making other than little things. Maybe they have been posting progress here. You just wouldn't be able to recognize it because they posted progress like every other poster does.
>>
>>148860583
One more thing. Less than 100 posters have posted in this thread, and this same thread has been up for 4 days now. Most of those are probably just IP changes with the same posters. Shilling here will do little actual good, and I'd rather them shill here than not since it bumps the thread. Also you get to shit all over their game if you don't like the look of it. That's the fun part. If shilling here is their big business strategy, I'm afraid they might have a few problems.
>>
>>148860817

Some of them actually do feel better than women. At least on the penis feeling scale. Unfortunately the rest of the experience is much less desirable. The ease of use, price point and lack of having to interact with them would probably be the major selling point to onaholes.

Speaking of gay guys, you know which type of characters I wish people woud write more of?

Flamboyant gay guys that want to molest the MC. They were pretty popular in the 80's-90s, before it became politically incorret to have gay coded villains.
>>
>>148875790
Love that shit.
>>
>>148875685
I'll never understand girls who are pleasured by being bottomed out. It's not about size, it's about how they use it. Just like with onaholes. It's not about tightness, it's about texture and quality. If you've ever stuck your dick inside something that's too tight, you know it all feels the same. You can't feel the texture, it just feels tight and constrictive. When you have a real vagina you can feel the texture, the varying pressure inside as it expands and contracts.
>>
>>148875730
>Probably because for once in their lives they aren't being beaten, kicked out of their families or threatened.
Pretty sure that happened to lesbians too, but they're not happy now. One of the two groups is getting a fair share of dickings. I see a correlation there.

The trope complaint is usually about gayness (or bisexuality, often) being used as a sign that someone is EXTRA depraved/evil, or about only villains being allowed to be gay. If you have a good gay and an evil gay, you're not immune from criticism (you never are) but it derails the most obvious complaints before they get started.

It's the whole thing with tokens in general. If you have only one black character there's nothing you can do with that character that people won't interpret as a stupid statement about race. If you have more than one and they're different, then they can just be people, and the critics calm down a little.
>>
>>148876969
Yep, that's the good stuff. Things like "I'm floating on cocks!" and "control this global warming in my pussy!" are not only funny but oddly satisfying.

The art also somewhat reminds me of Ghettoyouyh's disgustingly cartoonish style.

Hey, I have had sex too! Well... k-kind of!

Tell us more
>>
What gameplay elements would be acceptable in a VN as more than just a one-shot minigame?

Would /evn/ play a VN that's also, for example, a rail shooter?
>>
>>148878458
Literally anything
>>

No one ever accused AJ Tilley of being original
>>
>>148878414
No... You'll make fun of me, b-baka...
>>

Ones that don't suck.
Ask a stupid generic question, get a stupid generic answer. You can mix just about anything into a VN. Obviously you'll lose a section of players who either aren't into that gameplay or can't manage the difficulty, though you can get around that by including godmode cheats etc for the wuss players.

>>148878458
As long as its well made and actually fits the game
>>
>>148875213
Am I the only person here that only plays sfw evns?
>>
>>148878458
Can't go wrong with dungeon crawling, simulation, or S/RPG. Sky's the limit really, but those are pretty much staples for VN with gameplay.

>a VN that's also, for example, a rail shooter?
That' basically what Gal Gun is and it's done fine.

>>148879020
I play SFW games, and I'm making a SFW game.
>>
>>148879020
I don't even play vns at all
>>
>>148879020
>only sfw
As a principle? Why? Tell us where did the bad ero touch you.
>>
>>148879020
Probably. I have no problem playing games wihtout porn, but so much of the genre includes H, you miss out on a lot if you always avoid it
>>
>>148879453
I'll play your game.

>>148879553
What entertainment do you get from this thread?

>>148879575
I don't know. I just never thought to seek it out.
>>
>>148880603
>I'll play your game.
I'll look forward to it.
>>
>>148879020
I would only play NSFW evn if the art is appealing to me.
>>
>>148880930
Why?

Guys

We need a new thread

Who will be the savior of /evn/?
>>
>>148881167
