Given those points dota 2 and LoL are casual games. Their's a massive grind to get points that's slow and boring as shit, characters that dominate the meta, then it's a bunch of people derping around until 1 person fucks up at derping and gets a kill. Overwatch is a MOBA and FPS hybrid taking points from both and becoming a beautiful game. Certain Heroes need twitch reaction while some need smart movement and smart positioning, their's a hero for everyone. You like twitch shooters I like roadhog and winston.

The other issues you bring up is that an offensive ultimate is beaten by a defensive ultimes...No fucking shit. Defensive ultimates have counter play, that's why you see a winston pharah comp where the winston jumps on the mercy drawing enemy attention and the pharah bombs her out of the sky. All the defensive ultimates do is force priority targets, which makes for hype. Mccree and widow STILL SEE USE in pubs and competitive games, the patch was completely necessary.

I don't believe you've had any experience in the actual competitive scene because if you listen to our coms, counter picking is one of the most discussed things. Even at the start of the game we're making guesses based on map knowledge and team knowledge about what heroes they're going to use. Even on the lower end of the competitive spectrum you have counter picks in not only heroes, but in ults.

The ESL system is absolute trash and should not be used as our main competitive system, and most of your complaints fall under issues with ESL's hero stacking.

This was a massive opinion piece, based on YOUR problems, not the actual problems.
What it honestly looks like, is that you lost a bunch of games and have dug SO DEEP to find not issues that you rub mud on to say that they are.

I don't think Soldier76 needs a buff or anything, but it would be nice if Blizzard increased his and McCree falloff damage range. He is supposed a Pharah counter but nothing feels more frustrating that shooting 50 bullets at her and not not getting a kill because she had a Mercy on her ass + was 30+ meters away. But I feel like it does, simply because of how mobile and the different strategies and uses the ult has in organized play.

Honestly? It's fine and doesn't need to be touched whatsoever.
It's incredibly good at breaking defenses.

It's sort of like a reverse version of Zarya's ult.
Instead of pulling people into a single spot, it can make everybody cower and hide, giving your team control over an area.

It can also be used strategically, such as tossing it over high walls and having it blow up as soon as it peaks over said wall because it has that much range. But this only works on some payload maps.

If you want to buff D. Va, the only thing you need is better spread, damage fall off, and speed while shooting.
Then she becomes a tank version of Tracer, with a much higher margin for error.

If d.va's spread and falloff were any worse, the enemies would have to be behind her cause it's not possible to stand close enough to enemies for them to be effective as they are. Her ult is also legitimately garbage. Easily the worst ult in the game. Only the worst players in the game will actually get hit by it, and even then, you usually need a zarya just to hold them in place long enough for that. Getting the enemy team to not stand in one place for 2 seconds is not adequate payoff for the slowest charging ult in the game. It would barely be at an acceptable power level if it charged as fast as widow or mercy's, you know, the two fastest charging and also some of the most impactful ults in the game.

The problem with Overwatch is that it tries to be an FPS and a strategy game, and ends up neatly demonstrating why developers just pick one of those things.

The FPS element is bad because of the wealth of auto-aim and very easy to aim skills and weapons, which negate the impact of good aim. There's also the huge number of auto-positioning skills that negate the impact of good movement.

The strategy element is bad because in trying to disguise the game as an FPS they had to give up all of the hallmarks of a good strategy game. No top-down camera so you can get an unhindered picture of what's going on, controls are limited such that you'll never be able to control more than one unit at once, and unlike a real strategy game there isn't a wealth of different goals to pursue. There's no resources to control, no gold expansion to take, etc.

The game is bad as an FPS and bad as a strategy game. It's not long for this world, IMO.

Slowing high mobility targets is extremely helpful. It's a self multiplying effect. The more you slow them, the more reliably you can hit them. If you icicle someone, sure you can nail them twice dead on, but if you don't do it the third time, the first two hits don't actually accomplish anything to land the kill. If you can consistently land every icicle, it's better damage, but that's really only in a 1v1 situation. If literally any teammate is in the vicinity, slowing the target helps them hit too, which makes a massive difference in damage on single targets. Freezing tanks is in many ways more helpful than just damaging them too. Tanks usually have defensive abilities that they won't be able to use when frozen. Their big health pools are basically meaningless under any kind of focus fire in that situation.

The pro scene is still in its infancy. Every major post-competitive-patch tournament has fucked with the game's internal rules, whether it's removing SD, enacting hero limits, or both. Letting that shit go will not only empower folks already doing it, but it'll allow any aspiring "professional" to try their own hand at cheating. Folks are gonna get sick of it. THAT is what will kill the pro scene.

Sounds to me like you are just mad at getting killed by ults all the time. If you honestly think the only counter to most ults is Mercy and Lucios ults then I suggest maybe you look at your keyboard, locate the W,A,S and D keys and then start walking in the other direction from where you heard the very loud callout for the ult. Overwatch is a game that clearly rewards practice, teamplay and gamesense but all this video sounds like is "Im not getting better so the game must be bad, not me!" I don't know if you have been solo queuing all this time or something but I would get a team of friends together, actually practice together and start playing together because you will find the experience much more rewarding. As someone who has put over 1200 hours into TF2, I feel Overwatch is a nice change of pace with its vast hero selection and smaller teams. The ults work in the same way random crits do in TF2, to help break stalemates in pub play, but its possible we will see comp leagues turning them off as the game gets more popular and people really start breaking into what each character can do. Outright dismissing McCree due to his nerf is a mistake many are making when he is still a very viable character. This is my first Blizzard game but the fact you outright dismiss the idea that they can roll out any possible balance changes is just seeming like you want an excuse to dislike the game. If you don't like the game, that's fine, you don't have to play it anymore.

D.va doesn't (shouldn't) get melted while in firefights if you know how to play, like at all. She gets melted at the moment she jumps back into her mech while she can't really control it. There's about 1 second where it stands completely still. Hell, just removing its ability to be crit during this window would be a huge buff.

Oftentimes after using your ult while flanking, you're going to get a lot of attention from 1-3 enemies moving away from it. And your skinny hitbox and pistol is not reliable protection, you need to jump back in your mech as soon as you can and that 1 seconds of standstill makes for a dead mech.

I wish I had the Webm of a Hanzo destroying a D.va mech in the time from jumping in and being able to move.

Did blizz say how much comp shekels do you get for your rank?

With reinhardt, you have to get behind or to the side of him and make him choose between blocking your freeze or your team shooting him. Situational, but clearly a time where you'd be better freezing him that taking potshots. Zarya can barrier, but all you have to do is icicle or just wait it out and freeze her again. Zarya's the squishiest tank in the game with her barrier down, and if she can't move, her smaller hitbox is meaningless. Winston is kind of an iffy situation, but freezing ulting winston keeps him in check way more than doing a little damage to his huge hp pool. Dva is better to icicle usually, but with her defense matrix up, you should be freezing her since it'll go through, and freezing her will cancel it.

No problem, for Reinhardt it's a little excessive, in my opinion, but it's also his only method of attack outside his abilities. What contributes to this is the hero hitboxes, Genji's ult abuses this(same as Reinhardt's attack) because otherwise there'd be little to no reason for most people to use it. That and keep in mind they designed ults to guarantee atleast a kill or two.

His main point is correct, though.

Ultimates are way too powerful and almost every game comes down to an aoe cluster fuck where both teams spams their major ults or tries to pick off mercy.

The game also isn't satisfying as an FPS, because most FPS games reward mechanical skill over all else - something overwatch is strongly lacking with the lack of movement and aiming options for most heroes. Also, the base speed is ass.

I bully them once they get to the objective, that way I can atleast cross my fingers that more of my teammates will be there. Honestly I prefer playing Genji in the team and focusing key heros in the middle of fights, makes my job easier and can shift focus so my team can gain a little more ground. Also helps to jump in front of a teammate about to go down and deflect so they can get to cover or have a little better chance st getting healed.

Its just a case of mercy and lucio being tuned too high

The tank and "healer" (ignoring the support tag because zen and symmetra are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things) classes are basically broken

With offense being fairly balanced and defense being too weak. There needs to be a big balance patch giving everyone some more adjustment across the board

Along with adjusting 2capture point maps and overtime

I hope the next patch isnt a "we buffed dva slightly have fun guys" and its more substantial.

Maybe the Sombra patch when season 1 ends will bring with it a fair few changes

I find myself playing Genji in competitive and despite getting gold medals and so far going 6 -1 in placements I feel I need to be more versatile as I'm losing my ability to play with others as I improve at Genji what's a good couple chars to learn for when I get countered or am unneeded

Just because getting the enemy to move off a point for 2 seconds is the only thing dva's ult is good for doesn't mean it's actually good. There is no ult in the game as bad as it. The ults you talk shit about? All do just as much with the kind of set up that dva.s require, except they actually do shit without 3 teammates ulting just to set yours up.

D.va's ult is inexcusably bad, and it's on a character that's sub par even compared to characters without taking ults into the equation.

he should get a new ability if you ask me, since he only has 2 for some reason and neither of them can really be used in combat. maybe one that changes depending on your configuration but has separate cooldowns for each
