Im still working on that grand strategy game. I am trying to make maps of menus right now and go through the logical progressions of governments based off national techs.

As such if your say russia you have a russian tech tree, and if your communist you have a russian tech tree. Certain techs like Stalinism require some techs from multiple trees

Now the big question. Say soviet russia doesnt take stalinism and decides to fill out the full Marxist tech branch.

My idea was that at the end of the Marxist tech tree it just says "The Final Step" which makes any nation that takes it stop existing. Becoming a Stateless Socialist Commune. All provinces owned by it become semi autonomous 'nations' and all are allied to one another and share resources produced by pops and rgos.

However this means that the player now either game overs or picks a new nation.

Is this idea too memey and would this even be desirable for players? Your my main demographic so I want your opinions.

I already am trying to make it as in depth and obtuse as possible, par your suggestions.

How important is developing provinces? It costs monarch points, which is so useful for everything else, but it seems like not doing it will leave me kind of weak.

Simply enough to make things harder for me, that and I have a really snazzy way of making warfare change over time based on tech and this will allow me to do it.

It goes regiments -> fronts -> insurgencies and occupations

Regiments are like any gs game
Fronts are lines with a thickness that acts as one gigantic unit in how it occupies. But like a trade route in how resources are distributed.
And insurgencies are pops that wreck shit for other pops and can eventually rise as a regiment. This is the only one that can attack rgos directly rather than just make them less efficient from occupation and looting.

1. Am I correct in understanding that it is always best to isolate enemy exclaves from the sea, as I have done in this picture, to deny them resupply?

2. How do I transport troops by sea between friendly territories? WhenI take my africa troops and order them to move to Europe they take the long way around - via Turkey and the Middle Easy (all friendly territory). Surely, transport by convoys would be more convenient...?

I think it's best to hold onto as much land as possible without incurring penalties, even if you need to give up some of it later on to please vassals you've had the extra income in the meantime. Also keep your number of titles to a minimum, e.g. if you're a king don't create every duchy possible, vassals don't like it (if I remember correctly).

BTW, HPM, I can't check atm, but you might want to look at the provinces for this decision I mentioned in the paragraph above, because I think it misses certain provinces and does weird shit like ignore Transcaucasian azerbaijan. There might be another way for Persia to gain cores on the rest of azerbaijan that I'm not aware of, but I don't think so.

In a similar vein, the greater Serbia decision is redundant, adds cores on states and a single province which is in one of the states already cored by the decision. I think it is an error and it is supposed to give a core on the additional province with serbian plurality that's not contained within these, but whoever wrote the decision got the id wrong or you changed the map. Idk if you even care about this shit and it's probably NNM content, but you added it to your mod so you might as well take a look.

The units you assign to a defensive line will also sperg out and fucking allow there to be gaps, enabling the enemy's advance.

HoI 4 is the first game of the series I've played. I actually intend to use this game to learn how HoI works (it looks easy) before moving on to HoI 3 or even Darkest Hour. The problem is that the latter two have zero good tutorials, so HoI 4 is my "training wheels".

But you're right, events should be used. While the idea of some sort of second Paris Commune arising and making France part of the Comintern (resulting in an alliance des revers which could see Germany destroyed quickly) is interesting, I dislike how HoI 4 handles it. "Beep boop support leftist rhetoric congratulations you're now communist". Like in Victoria II, I believe there should be events, rebels, militancy and the like that can cause an outbreak, revolution etc. This means that if you really want to become communist then you can manipulate things in such a way that a commie uprising becomes more likely, but on the other hand it should also be possible to have to deal with communist rebels even if you want to stay democratic. Of course certain ideas should give you greater national unity, but this idea tree we have now is pretty much asking you "what kind of France do you want, famille?"
