With Brainybots, sure. Not in vanilla. Raising the difficulty does little more than make early game harder. The AI is still pretty dumb and even the higher damage becomes pointless as IIRC, damage & armor are calculated BEFORE the difficulty based modifiers. The best armor in the game'll just no sell most anything short of couched weaponry and elite troops.

As a result, it doesn't matter how much of a modifier the game applies. 0 x anything is still 0.

Is it gonna be possible to extensively mod the campaign part of the game? (this includes being able to make interfaces for new things) I love the action and it's one of the main reasons it's one of my favourite games, but I'd like to see more developed kingdom/city/village management, and all that.

Also, are skills getting reworked? There are many in warband which are pretty useless or underwhelming. It'd be nice to have different skills (or to make these moddeable at least) and maybe perks as well (both for the battles as well as the campaign)

You're playing Total War for the big battles, but you've got a bird's eye and you wish you could be down there, so you play M&B.

You play M&B but you wish there was more political shit to do when you inevitably get into that realm during mid-late game, so you go to CK2.

The only game that made it somewhat right that comes to my mind was Ragnarok Online. Only Assassins could dual wield, with base damage set to 50% on right hand, 30% on left hand, and masteries would increase them up to 100% damage on right hand, 80% on left. Also, it would reduce your attack speed by a great margin.

In the end, you had to put a lot of effort so it can be actually useful when compared to other builds against monsters, and only dumb people would use it in PvP and even dumber people would die to it because you're completely shieldless while investing a lot into killing as fast as you can before they notice, thus you're paper thin.

Meanwhile you have dumb shit like Skyrim that actually rewards you with no effort needed to use two weapons at the same time and Game of Thrones (the show, that is) with dual wielding completely out of context (or actresses who had next to no training before recording) and people tend to think that's the way to go.

Because people always carried daggers with them. A shield is better, but most people dont carry shields around with them. For a while it was fashionable to carry a buckler with you around town.

A shield is ALWAYS better to anything else in your offhand (except a gun of course)

When people say they want dual wielding in a video game they dont mean parrying daggers anyway. They mean bullshit unrealistic higher 'deeps' damage spam or flashy unrealistic movesets.

Thats what i like about mount and blade. Want to fuck something up? Heavy Great Bardiche. Now thats realistic!

Yeah, that's retarded. I'm not sure why they had Arthur dual wielding instead of using Dawn like he does in the books. Especially when they tried to be "realistic" and have Ned refrain from using Ice.

Admittedly I could see Syrio dual wielding (or having a parrying dagger) and buy it, but the guy's style leaves one hand open as is and he's clearly trained in both book and show to fuck multiple people up at once. They actually nerfed him in the show. In the books he doesn't knock those guys out, he just straight up fucking kills them.

The irony is I don't really use them for that. Admittedly I use the Heavy Bastard Sword, but the only time I switch that puppy to two-handed is when I'm on the walls. Then it's block properly, let my armor soak up anything that gets through, and bring the sword down on their heads.

Ineffecient as hell, I'm sure, but it's so damn fun to just watch a shield break or someone go down whenever you swing that thing.

Its an evolution and based on utilitarianism. Because people always carry daggers with them, a parrying dagger is going to be socially acceptable to carry. Because people always carry daggers with them, the parrying dagger only exists because people started using their daggers in their offhand for fighting and looked for ways to modify it for that purpose. Because people always carry a dagger, carrying a parrying dagger is really not a big deal.
Compared to carrying a shield around. A parrying dagger is much more defensive than a proper fighting shield is, which most people dont understand, they think a dagger must be a weapon, but a parrying dagger is almost entirely defensive because to attack with it closes no lines at all, unlike a shield which leaves your entire side protected while you strike with it.

That depends on what weapons you're using. Daggers would create a rather small shield around yourself, and swords could do an okay job, if you could control the weigh that well, but large 2h weapons would still do a better job, as they would be larger and much stronger.

I think shit like this would work if the combat was reworked a bit. Personally I would add stuff like dodging (not with rolls, but with sidestepping to the sides, and small leaps fowards and backwards) and would make the attacks have a more defined trajectory. By this I mean you shouldn't be able to move your character so much in the middle of an attack animation, which is what makes the MP combat so "flaily", as in, everyone twirls around all the time to get more speed bonus and to cover more space with their attack.

I'm not saying it should be like dark souls, I don't like that type of combat, but I think M&B's combat needs to be more than jogging around and flailing. The current system we have now + those things would allow playstyles based on different kinds of weapons. By this I don't mean every weapon should be useable on every situation, but it would allow the player to use, say, a rapier or maybe sword + dagger in situations outside the battles on the field.

Thinking about it, a game that did this sort of OK was Severance Blade of Darkness. So yeah, basically I hope bannerlord's combat is moddeable enough to get a nice mix between vanilla and severance-type of combat.

They probably were, because people will use what they have available to them.

They are not optimal for that by any means. Thing is, because you are always wearing a dagger, why wouldn't you wear a parrying dagger?

Also for people using polearms, since swords in the field are sidearms and people are usualy not carrying shields in later eras because they have a halberd or something, if you have a sword you may as well have an offhand item.

I have nothing against parrying daggers, i just dont think they even really count as dual wielding. If a parrying dagger is dual wielding, then so is using a shield.

When people say dual wielding they mean using two one handed weapons, both offensively.

How do I "Escape from the castle" in Gekukujo?
I'm supposed to rescue a prisoner, but I get caught every time I go in. The first two times, I got the prisoner, but her ran off and got KO'd.

Now I'm trying to find my way out of this japanese... place. I can't kill the guards either, because they're under the bridge, and running takes too long.

The great bardiche is a two handed weapon (not to be confused with the long great bardiche which is a polearm) and therefore only suffers a 22% damage penalty on horseback. So immense is the heavy great bardiches damage, however, that it is still on par with the heaviest of one handed weapons damage wise on horseback, and while swinging slightly slower, has a massive 120 reach, for cleaving peasants in passing with ease

You can fire the masterwork siege crossbow from horseback, just not reload it. Why you would need a ranged weapon on horseback with a heavy great bardiche i do not know, however. The crossbow is to let you kill things at range while on foot.

The masterwork siege crossbow is superior to any bow! It fires slower, certainly, and can not be used on horseback. But its velocity gives it a penetration value far superior to the strongest of bows, which is exactly what you need when obliterating shield formations!

Also you can save skillpoints for maximum powerstrike to maximize your heavy great bardiches one-shotting potential.

I reckon bows and arrows are more efficient in the long run because you can use loosed arrows that are buried into the ground or stone or trees, whereas with crossbows you need to ration your shots and aim very, very carefully. Of course, they payoff for a good crossbowman is excellent.

You can gather bolts as well off the ground/castle walls.

For siege attack i use crossbows when ive got crossbowmen and bows when ive got bowmen, for this reaon, but it dosent really matter.

Crossbows are bad in the field since all but the lightest ones are ground only. But the idea is that with a 120 reach massive bardiche you dont need ranged weapons when you have your horse available, you just run around slaughtering things.

The crossbow is for sieging and random events.

That said, you could also carry 3 stacks of throwing axes and max power throw for a similar and more stylish effect i guess, and still have some use in the field.

Maybe ill do a playthrough of that.

You are not seeing the full picture, projectile velocity factors in somehow when it comes to shield damage, i dont know how, i read about it years ago.

No projectile is faster than a siege crossbows, and for this reason they destroy shields better than any arrow. Its something like that, i dont know the specifics. But you can certainly feel it when you compare an army of rhodock sharpshooters vs an army of marksmen. I really like marksmen because they clear trash a lot better and sometimes ive had marksmen land headshots from across the entire map, but sharpshooters shred hard targets much faster like advancing shielded heavy infantry.

In VC, after the morrigan questline, you know how you get one of the sons of the village leader after you help them? Well, I lost a battle and I think I lost him forever, because he just disappeared and even though I ask the travelers about my companions he's not there.

I've got a bunch of maxed out trainer on my companions but they aren't high enough level so it only works up to T3 troops or so
the main problem im having is that i can't seem to recruit from villages fast enough and they aren't giving any quests either to raise relations

i can't take any of the enemy castles on my own because they all have like 150 sharpshooters and sergeants and I can't take them on with my shitty 130 T4 troops so the only thing I can do is just follow the marshal around and watch them steamroll the enemy

I guess I'm bored cause my faction is too powerful and just winning with or without any help from me, there's literally 0 chance we have to lose as we already own half the map and I feel like I haven't made any impact whatsoever on the game

You know, while CoMM is ugly and unbalanced as sin, the scripts there are really impressive. Medusas turn enemies to stone, vampires transforming, devils teleporting. I sure hope if won't be abandoned, because it got the potential to be the best fantasy mod for Warband.

Guys maybe I missed a dialogue options around?
I need help.

I am with Vaegirs, a vassal, and we were at war with Nords.
I am lord of this castle on the screenshot.
During war I captured a lot of lords, throwed them into my dungeons and always refusing to release them when asked, in order to reduce the number of nords parties on the map.
Finally we destroyed all the nord, faction eliminated.

Now I am at war with rhodoks, but I don't care, just listen: I want to release these nords lords now, so maybe they can live theirs lives and join as they please one of the other factions, but HOW?

If i go to "manage my garrison" on the castle, I can just take them with me, there is not a "release" option.
When they are with me, I have only "talk", but I can't let them go, I just curse them.

How the fuck do I release lords?
I want my map to have 10 more lords around again...I didn't mean to start imprisoning the world

They dont always penetrate. Its based on how good the shield is, how strong the crossbow is, and how close you are.

You probably wont ever penetrate top tier melee like huskarls, but fodder with shields you basically just ignore the shield and it goes clean through, and most mid tier units get their shields ignored at close range by sharpshooters.

I started a game, did a tournament or three, went around recruiting men, fought bandits and gained renown, and then joined a faction as a merc.

I can never really match the larger enemy groups. Do I need to recruit like crazy or something? It's a great sandbox, but I'm a bit lost.

This isn't a good answer, but Blood & Gold Caribbean (aka the kind of meh paid piracy mod) has it so when you basically lose any fight, they steal all of your equipment, money, ships, etc and then enslave you. You then have to escape.

You don't get your stuff back. It makes losing a lot harder.


Also Floris Evolved has is to you can make it so AI lords might execute you (and you them, and them others), which immediately ends the game and has you export your character.

I've discovered that Gekokujo has something in it that keeps shields from showing up in the market. The rodelaro shields don't show up and kuyshu and the PIC RELATED duel-wield shields don't show up anywhere.

Not sure what troops besides ninjas and Historically Accurateâ„¢ Date Masamune should duel-wield.

Take a boat to dorestad, buy wine and jewelry and salt

Sail to londonwic, then dunwic, then babbenburough or whatever, then edinburough, then the thing just across from edinburough, then tunisburg, then ribe, then back to dorested

In all these places, sell jewelry and wine (not too much in one place to keep prices high)

Buy wool and iron at these places, every step along the path. At tunisburg buy tar.

Sell some of the tar at ribe, the rest, along with all the wool and iron, back at dorested.

By the time you make this circle the shops will have reset, and you can buy more jewelry and wine.

Just do this in a huge circle for a few months and you will easily have 100k+ with out stepping foot on the world map yourself.

Look for companions in the taverns as you do this. Also get some lame ponys when you get some cash, they are the cheapest horses (they become regular ponys after a while) and having up to 6 in your inventory makes you over-land map speed penalty for carrying heavy goods go down. Its good to have 6 (or at least 3)

For gear, once you get 20k go to the roman fort in wessex. Theres a man in there you talk to, he asks 4 riddles. The answers are hammer spider cow shield. He gives you 3 items (the spider riddle takes 5k, you cant avoid this). The helmet he gives you is the best helmet in the game. The shield and sword are very good items (though not the best).

Once you get money built up have your helm, shield, and sword improved to max by a blacksmith then go to the boars grove by dunwic. Inside is one pretty tough opponent, you can beat him if you are gud though, just feint a bunch and maybe open with throwing weapons to break his shield. He gives you good heavy armor and a decent helmet for a companion. Improve these things. Now town ambushes shouldnt be so hard.

Continue the circuit and trading untill you get enough to buy an oak busse. Also buy farms in various ports to get your steady income flowing.

As far as troops. If you improve your relationship with a villiage they start giving you higher tier units.

If you are playing storymode you can get high relation with doccinga right off the bat after doing the early quests (that locks you out of dorested for a while so do all your money-raising and shit before you do this part, you can do the circuit by renting boats fight off the bat after the monastery quest that gives you a little starting capital. NOTE: the prices in storymode start out kind of shit, wine costs more and sells for less. Its still a profitable circuit, but it will take a few trips before enough time has passed for them to get to sandbox mode norms). Otherwise just pick one town and do everything you can to make it love you.

There, my starting guide for VC. I have no further guide because VC always starts crashing after every save for me after a few months and i cant be assed to restart the game every time i want to save.

You can edit your base morale so that you never have to worry about it. It's basically necessary for mods with large army sizes, like Viking Conquest or GekoNewer (though I think GekoNewer just changes the morale benefit from food and leadership, not base morale). Just go to your scripts and search for "get_player_party_morale_values" or something like that. Search for the first lone 50 ("50", not "5027" or "1507" or some shit) and change that to whatever. 150. 250. 999. Won't display in game, but your base morale will be changed.

I had it even worse, they lost every town but Suno and had only 2 castles left near the ocean. Also, through some rng fuckery several lords got exiled to nords and veagers, the ones we were at war with, so wehad to fight even more armies. While fighting the Veagers I fought and captured 2 khergits, 1 Saranid and Rhodok, and at least 3 Veager lords. I made the mistake of excepting the ransom early on, i didn't realize just how many was on their side.

To top it all off 2 Marshals and the Godamn king got captured. It was suffering. Thankfully the Rhodoks powned the Saranid's and now were waring on their crippled ass and are actually getting some land back.


Incidentaly can you exchange captured lords for allies that that side captured? I kept trying to talk with the King but no option ever showed up.
