Really? I think the weapons in XCOM 2 fit really well with the soldiers. The tier 2 mag weapons can be pretty bulky looking, but I think that's by design. They are supposed to be clunky, barely functioning, scrapped together weapons with exposed wiring and no finish. Then for some reason the tier 3 weapons look like beautifully machined full production weapons suitable for a showroom.

Also the captcha is fucking up and it's really annoying.

Update ruined by character pool. Even after a game restart no one's customization are coming back. That's over 100 soldiers fucked over. What's worse is that my character pool backup won't even display properly so I can't import that last list that was still working.

You need radar coverage to see UFOs. You can try patrolling around with aircraft, which have a short ranged radar, or you can build a base with a radar station there. Getting radar coverage expanded should be a priority, especially to Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Some months you'll just not see many UFOS, since the aliens launch missions in random countries.

You can't hit someone else on a miss, only objects (which could then explode and kill someone). Targetting likes to reset a lot, especially when moving. Since VIPs are almost always the highest chance to hit shot, if it resets and you fire, you'll end up killing the VIP.

Anyone not able to complete shen's gift mission.

If I load a save mid way through this level for instance to go back a move or because I fail it, my troops won't move at all and dead robot bodies fly all over the fucking place.

Can someone tell me how to fix this. This mission is already a marathon and I've got to the sectopod at the end but when I load the save my troops don't move or do anything.

Left it for an hour. Came back and still they hadn't moved.

As for your problem i dunno, that has happened to me but never to all my soldiers at the same time, in my case i just finished the mission while abandoning the soldier that couldn't move since i couldn't find a way to fix it. Restarting is probably your only option.

Shotgun rangers matey. They wipe the floor with aliens after they get shard guns and dont stop performing. I think after earlygame I took 3 rangers on every single mission. In fact my groups consisted of 2 psionics, 1 gunner grenadier and 3 shotgun rangers.

That's another point. Rush psionics. Its broken. After getting 1st mag weapons I go psionics before getting anything else. Shard gun is enough to deal with every enemy, no need to waste resources and time on getting the sniper/lmg.

The only difficult part of Legend/Ironman is the very earlygame, and I admit it took a couple of times but after that its smooth sailing just like in EW.

Gunslingers are complete garbage damage wise which is ironically their only trick. The only time you see one outdamaging a ranger is when you trigger like 3 pods at once and blow them all out of cover for your worthless pistol to ping them all for like 5 damage.

Well fair enough, I suppose if you like the sleek Tron aesthetic that the vanilla powered armor has as well, its fine.
I'm personally a fan of the more rugged and tougher look that EW MECs had, those tier 3 paladins were absolutely gorgeous.

Worst offender is the head options though. Something is wrong when that gremlin head is the most bearable of them all.

You bring at least one ranger with phantom to scout ahead. If you see him, everyone else moves into position and sets up overwatch, then you have the ranger shoot to get his attention. Since Rulers don't act in the enemy turn, you get a whole turn of overwatch to chip him down, then can start laying into him normally. Done right you can hammer him with enough damage that he'll bail through his rift without getting off more than one or two attacks.

If you stumble on him unprepared, though, he's an absolute nightmare. You just have to suck up the guaranteed damage from devastate and hope for the best.

The biggest issue: 4-turn cooldown

Some other things:
- It's also not a guaranteed hit, but to be fair it seems to always be >90%)
- There's basically no environmental destruction from flying corpses (no more punching meatbags into cars to have them explode)
- Can't punch cover/walls into oblivion anymore (somewhat mitigated by the wrecking ball ability, but no reason you couldn't have both)

Basically it's a pretty hard nerf from EW KSM. I can accept the small possibility of missing with it, but the other things are really lame and there will be hopefully be a mod to fix it.

My friend who's sitting right next to me playing this game too just got a terror mission with mercenaries that have 40 armor all over and health of 110, or their melee units which have armor of 100 and similar health. His best weapon at this point is the slugthrower at 70 damage but he only has two. No lasers have been dropping for him. It's January 2602. Any advice on how to deal with them? If you don't have laser weapons or a good supply of ballistics that deal 70+ (preferably Gauss weapons) damage then it is definitely time to skip town.

The low tiers of mercenaries have 30 armor, but also 60% piercing resistance (applies to ballistic weapons). Plasma is also good.

Cutting weapons with high damage do a good job. Explosives are 80% effective, so still inferior to lasers or cutting.
Simply a case of having the right tools for the job. If your relying on piercing damage then your just screwed.

There are some high tier axes that have very good cutting damage. Laser Tommies can hurt them and other standard laser rifles. You can get superconductive plasma cannonballs for your Assault Cannon, those are pretty good and you can make them youself. The Reaper rifle on a crew with really high aim can hurt them. Slug Throwers can hurt them, but you have to get close and its going to take multiple shots to maybe kill them. Chemical weapons deal full damage if you have any.

As for the melee unit (Shock Troopers) they have 100 front armor, but their back armor is only 60, so that's you best bet. Kinda rambling here but hope that helps. Like I said in the beginning, nothing wrong with just bugging out.

Holy shit that was a giant jump in difficulty. I had the health number mod and when I saw his health my jaw dropped. I was seriously expecting for there to be some sort of gimmick with that fight, where I'd need to push something to bring him down. I got wiped pretty badly several times. It's like a fucking long war landed large, everything is more or less manageable until you hit the commander pod. It's criminal how that mission pops up so early and how it leads you to believe everything will be manageable.

Yeah I've got a hangar base dedicated to holding and shipping craft round. To be fair, you don't need that many ships. I have two spy zepplins, one bonaventura (My troop transport), and one fighter for taking down enemy ships scouting for my base (Currently the Kraken). The main issue with the last fight is that he has a ton of armour.
and since you need to kill him to beat the mission, it's basically a damage race.

The sectopod itself isn't that dangerous.
I just suppressed it each turn and it rarely hit anything.

The danger is the MEC spam but Shen can one shot them with her abilities and if you hack the sectopod you can take control of ALL MECs on a ~75% chance.

The outpost hold 10 hands, and has storage space (and small radar). I honestly just don't have anything better to put there, its remnant of when I wanted to get the base up quick.

I have the barracks and workshops so that they can make counterfeit money and alcohol on the side for some extra funds. I haven't really looked to closely at it in a while, so it might be time to do some math again to see if the runts pay for themselves. She's basically the only reason you can actually beat that mission if you choose to attempt it the moment you get it in the campaign(aka: super early). She can 1 hit KO the minimecs, and as for the boss, you can haywire him to disable him or even take control of everything else around him. That should give you the advantage that's needed. Oh and, keep Shen out of LOS of the boss. For whatever reason, the boss for me had a hardon for Shen and would target her all the time, even if SPARK was in his face

I was missing the charm of magnificent design in XCOM 2, to the point of where I was considering going back and experiencing Long Dong again.

Long dong had me carrying smokes, flashbangs, pretty much all sorts of defensive items, because engagements wouldn't last either one turn or two turns where the enemy was literally frozen or doing jack shit during their move. That one helps to make sure the ayys actually hang back and riddle you with shots (even ones that only have slight chances of hitting). I then ladled more and larger pods on top of that, and significanlty increased the defensive value of both half and full cover.

Engagements last across several turns, especially after I run out of grenades.

With bad robots unaffiliated with Advent already depicted in this DLC I kind of like the idea of them going down the "evil AI" sci fi schtick route for Xcom2. If the Expansion is an addition to the base game (Like Civ's expansions or EW) and not a whole blown 'sequel' then I don't see it being TFTD. The spooky spoopy Psi energy comes out of the ocean floor at the end of the game, not before. You can have a hostile faction to advent and Xcom of robos - MECs, Sparks, Sectopods, Gremlin types, some kind of humanoid synthetic for gruntwork, the tentacle guys from XcomEW, maybe some mother fuckin C Y B E R D I S C S. Would need means to mitigate the OPness of emp or specialists against them though. But every single one of them having hardened vs critical hits would be a good counterweight. Suddenly your shotgun rangers aren't as appealing.

On the plus side there's at least 2 other people with the same problem, for some reason whenever i launch the Xcom2 Editor it just gets to a point where it tries to load foliage or some crap and it just kills itself, and i already tried everything under the sun so i guess all anyone can do is wait for 2k or Firaxis to respond to tickets.

Landed UFOs were always a giant mess in Long Dong. Raiders are probably the worst offenders. In larger UFOs, you could just play lane sweeper for 50 turns until it was time to breach the commander pod. Not with Raiders, those fucks were clown cars and with UFO LOS, it was a nightmare trying to engage inside. I still get ptsd from seeing destroyers due to one mission where I managed to trigger THE ENTIRE MAP upon approaching the ufo.

It's a challenge DLC

It gives you a bit of shit to play around with at the start, after which you get introduced to them in a story mission. Some people complain about how it's really imbalanced, and if you are caught off guard without the proper equipment you might as well evac who you can. If you do have the proper equipment(provided at the start of the whole game), then they're more than manageable.

I do remember bullrushing on the medium ones too but at least I would have more room to set up a firing line and try to bait them into it. For the large ones you usually had a shitty starting situation with a lil full cover and half cover spread out in a U shape around a killing field.

I didn't know what else to do, i figured given that this is XCOMBABY that my poor rookie would miss if i just fired at him, and i figured if i just hunkered down it would get out of the cars and i'd lose my chance to make sure he died, or he would continue to shoot or overwatch from over there and nothing would change.

Meanwhile my other rookie got hit so she only had 1 health left, which meant if one of the 2 advent overwatched she wouldn't be able to do anything.

But, i lucked out and he blew himself up, so my other rookie could grab the loot and hide where the other guy couldn't reach her unless he walked through fire, and since he only had 1 health left i figured he either wouldn't do it, or he would and even if he killed one of my rookies he would just kill himself.

In the end everything turned A-OK.

I guess i'll start by researching modular weapons, we have a lot of guns here, they're all 0 supplies so i assume they're not outright better than their vanilla counterparts.

I also have a heal grenade i can build for the same price of a medkit, it apparently heals 2hp per turn over 3 turns in an aoe, seems pretty good so it should probably cost more.

They're mostly sidegrades. Some give more damage or other things in exchange for less ammo or mod capacity, for example.

Heal grenades can also work on anyone in the heal radius. Even Advent. Be careful.

So i started killing ayys, and then it spiraled out of control when i triggered another pod and then another one walked in, i thought "maybe i can kill the vip and run away" but what i didn't know, is that in this mission if you kill the vip the timer extends itself and reinforcements drop in every turn. So at that point it was all over.

The campaign is probably still salvageable since i only lost 3 rookies and a squadie.

Well this is it, this is the last chance to salvage this campaign.

We got """""""""lucky"""""""" and got a haven defense mission, so if we can survive for long enough with these 2 rookies, we can get more rookies for free, and we survive through the mission. We'll have magnetic weapons for the next missions.

I have the same problem. Before Shen's Last Gift my mods worked perfectly fine together, even with Alien Hunters DLC (well the Numerical Health Display got a gray bar, but nothing serious). But the second after I installed Last Gift, I couldn't even get my XCOM running...

That should not be necessary. When you've upgraded for example to magnetic weapons you should be able to buy it at the same place you buy your squad upgrade weapons.
