Alright /xcg/
It's been a month or two since I played.
What do you consider the must-have mods from the pastebin?
How's the new DLC so far? Are mods compatible?
Do you still need to start a new game with every mod you install?
Reposting from last thread: So i have a couple friends that like xcom, and we play dnd pretty often. Since they're (mostly) not shitters, would a tabletop xcom game sound fun with each person controlling an individual trooper?

You mean Only War?
>>147239914
I remember a pretty long thread on /tg/ that lasted for a while. Guy was explaining how he was doing it TTRPG style. Even reported back after anothing session.
He also had some base-building aspects and an over-arching story.
They had plenty fun, don't have archive tho
WHY THE FUCK CAN SNAKES PULL ME THROUGH WALLS
Time to try another campaign, last time it was too hard, so i wanted to see if there were any mods to make it a bit easier, but a lot of them feel like outright cheats, the only one i found that seemed like it would make things easier on the early game is "psi rookies" which apparently makes a psi class similar to the vanilla one but it works like the normal classes, so if you get one you can't make them as strong as the vanilla psi operatives. Seems like a decent trade off.
>leave xcg after first x2 playthough
>come back to cosplay cosmetics, nude mods, and no MELD
I don't know what I expected.
Remember to take your meds /xcg/.

Why not just use 'larger starting squad' to help edge out the difficulty while also allowing more variety in squads.

Was reading OW, sounds neat as fuck, but one member of the group (me) thinks 40k is kinda cringey. Looking into it though.

Awesome. I think we're gonna straight adapt the game onto the table, and modify it as necessary. What difficulty should we start with? Classic?

Also new shitty edit, rate
I'm told shen's last gift is out.
Is stop wasting my time still mandatory?
how bad is XCOM 2 again
is the version with the DLC worth it
is the base game even worth it
>>147246675
Not terrible.
As it's on sale, yes, It's cheaper to get the all-inclusive version rather then just the basic game and the MEC DLC (which is worthwhile).
Yes.
>>147243553
It finally happened, a mission went well. Too bad the mission took like a fucking hour.
>>147246776
is the DLC going to be of any value if put less than 70 hours into this thing
because ive got like 50 euros on my steam wallet and i was thinking of picking up something else alongside it and i'd be able to fit in Divinity: OS (20 european dollars) if i went with the basic version of xcom 2
>>147247048
These classes though, rangers never.
>>147247065
Well, you could easily enjoy the game without it.
Just get the base game and pick up D:OS then.
>>147247065
Anarchy's Children is just cosmetics, shitty ones at that.
Ayy Rulers are basically boss battles, some would say they break the game and are artificial difficulty.
Shen's Last Gift adds Mecs.
>>147247065
>divinity os vs xcom2
Do you have a friend to play divinity with? If so then definitely get that. Me and a friend have been playing it recently. We dove headfirst in on the hard mode and have been having a blast.
Mwahaha! Your tears of impotent robo-rage are as sweet ambrosia to me, Julian!
>>147247805
i don't think i'd be able to rope any of the people i know into buying it, so i'll likely be soloing my way through Divinity. hopefully its fun and/or interesting all the same.
So I bought the reinforcement pack, haven't played since release.
Loaded my ol' save, realized I could build the mech immedietly and it feels boring'ish. Seems I can't activate the mission cause I've gotten so far?
Same with Alien hunters I guess, saw some Viper King which escaped, I take it it's recommend to start a new save with the DLC?
>>147249362
You have to start a new game to enable the missions.
I can understand the kinetic strike being weaker in 2 compared to EW since it was a rocket-assisted fist in EW and in 2 it is just the sparks punching the target.
So, I'm on my fifth campaign and just thought, is there a benefit for capturing the enemy VIP instead of just PURGING?

>>147239514
As far as I know most mods are compatiable, at least people with huge mod pools seem to be able to still run the game fine.
>What do you consider the must-have mods from the pastebin?
The only essentials from the pastebin in my opinion are the quality of life and fixes mods. Honestly everything else is kind of up to your discretion right now on what you want. If you're looking to get a more specific experience out of X2, people here will be able to recommend the combination of mods and .ini edits that would be a good start. There's no "Long War" equivalent right now, so you'll have to experiement more.
You don't have to worry about new mods in the middle of a campaign, and for most you don't have to worry about turning them off mid campaign as well.
>>147255064
You can hack the other MECs though to help distract/wittle down his armour
He has fuck all aim so you're bad if you didn't bring anything with suppression to keep him useless while you shred his armour.
It's not that tough, the MEC spam is the worst part about it,
Quick, post cinematic screenshots!
>>147255312
>You don't have to worry about new mods in the middle of a campaign, and for most you don't have to worry about turning them off mid campaign as well.
That's good news.
I remember that you couldn't turn off a single mod without crashing this save with no survivors at first

the generators supposed to help but its not enough
>>147255852
Yeah, I pretty much avoided mods except for the really big cosmetic ones and a few quality of life ones in the first month.
Pretty far past that now, just the usual DLC patches that break mods, which is too be expected. This one wasn't even that bad, just a few offenders.

>>147256897
No, I mostly meant why you have a second mob dropping loot. Only one should per mission. Being able to see which unit is carrying loot is definitely a cheat as well though, but may as well go full force I guess.
>>147256770
One that gives me not one, not two, but SIX loot drops per mission, fully configurable of how much loot drops you get.
After playing a vanilla L/I campaign I'm just enjoying life with cheatmods for fun
>>147257027
Well I suppose you deserve a cheat break after that.
Pistols are Useful.
>>147257107
Yeah.
Current cheat mods include:
No avatar project
Lootboxes with opening time tweaked to instant
No rookie training times in GTS
No time limit on missions
12 man squad thanks to LW toolbox
Not created equally and hidden potential thanks to LW toolbox as well
A couple of extra classes
Some shit that I forgot
and all that on difficulty just below legend because playing on normal is just too cheaty
Coming soon lads.
So are these supposed to be the new and improved Ethereals?
>>147257307
>and all that on difficulty just below legend because playing on normal is just too cheaty
I can't play on less than Commander myself. It's just not the same game anymore. I'd love to be able to say that about Legend, but the gap in difficulty between the two is just too damned vast.
>>147257402
That neck looks fearful flimsy.
>>147257504
No, that's Super Saiyan Future Cyber God Super Saiyan Goku. He's just trying to help the ayyys have a chance against the might that is XCom.
>sectopod as final boss in a mission that is available pretty much in the first month
Bravo, Firaxis, yet again you prove what fucking hacks you are.
>>147257731
Nobody's forcing you to go to it in the first month, should've learned your lesson after blacksite/snek lair
>>147257780
That doesn't make it less retarded. The entire rest of the mission is clearly designed for an early game squad, and then they throw a fucking late game mech at you. Even by XCOM2 standards, that is beyond bullshit.
>>147257224
>battlerifle infantry with gunslinger
>pistol is basically assault rifle
How much damage does Bombard on sparks do?
What research unlocks tier 2 bits? I've already one MEC autoposy.
>>147257543
Got the head done.
My new GTX 1080 came in. Turns out that even with it I can't get constant 60 FPS on absolute maximum settings (IE, everything max AND MSAA 8x). Only at 1080p right now too.
Going for MSAA 2x is an easy 90 FPS though, and MSAA 4x is 75, so still pretty nice overall. Not even overclocking the card beyond the OC it came with. Game is pretty solid 120+ FPS on max everything and FXAA.
Definitely a pretty nice boost over my old 670.

What's recommended for making this journey easier? Any .ini edits in particular I should try first? I'm not above total fucking toastermode but I'd at the very least like textures to look good if I can have it.

>>147260950
My autism won't let me just plummet to N64 level. I want to acquire at the very least 22 FPS while having something I can enjoy. It's what I played XCOM 1 on, at the least.
>>147261579
Faceless should disguise themselves as cute girls and capture the hearts and minds of X-Com.
>>147261770
Faceless don't really strike me as the intelligent types nor do they seem to be informers or information gatherers. Oddly enough they feel like their just terror units which seems odd. The game just never really comments on whether they actually relay information, or if they just sit around waiting to rip someone in half with their claws.
Kind of an important detail.
>>147262259
They don't seem to be an informer, just a plant that makes terrorizing resistance cells easier by sowing paranoia in the ranks.
>>147261383
I giff rate up, good job mate.
>>147261383
Good work man. You're pretty good.
>>147262358
Which is why they aren't really an infiltration unit like thin men were, who could speak multiple languages and actually were intelligent and gathered information.
Why they didn't make faceless do the same thing is beyond me.
>>147258225
>>pistol is basically assault rifle
And that's really great to have as a back up for when the firefight goes on for too long.
Man suicide breaching UFOs with a rookie strapped with HE is great. There were 3 ayys in there and he didnt even take out the elerium.
>>147257656
ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT KAKAROTO?!
>>147262489
Because advent already won. All they need to do is crush kill destroy the resistance cells and make their morale disintegrate. To do that, they need a paranoia-inducing unit. Not one who could infiltrate a hierarchical system like thin mints.
>>147262489
>>147262891
And when they do need a real infiltrator they can just set up a resistance informant, genuine human, no risk on their part
>>147263052
exactly
in fact there's a dark event specifically about human resistance informants.
>>147263153
>>147263052
>>147262891
I find it hard to believe they wouldn't see the benefit of a shapeshifter as an informant. There has been resistance cells/resistance since they first "won." The concept of them not needing an infiltration unit anymore is pretty silly.
Just spread those suckers out like a net with real lives and identities and you're gonna be able to have an even tighter control on the population. Why rely on humans anyway? I was never under the impression they were experiencing resource shortages. Hell, they created an entire military/police force instead of recruiting among the population or using aliens they already had.
>>147263551
Ultimately it comes down to xcom being a kinda pulpy setting, so there will end up being silly things like evil snake women, silver haired super sayiens, humans being randomly importaint in the universe etc.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=715700207
Longer Names V2 to replace the original longer names which is not being supported and broke after the most recent update.
Is modlist anon still around? Feel like I haven't heard from it for a bit and I don't think the pastebin has been updated since mid April.
>>147263881
Well sure, just making that point since other people were saying that they really didn't "need" an infiltration unit according to what we knew about the xcom 2 universe.

Editing her face or hair will cause you to lose her custom appearance and become a generic soldier, Same with changing her voice. Editing her name or nationality will also corrupt those as well.
IDK if she will keep her voice if you import her into a new game, lets see what happens.
>>147274141

New games do not seem to want to load her, even when she is the only character in the pool and the game is set to load from character pool only. So I guess that's the end of this experiment. Maybe I'll try keeping her in the pool to see if I can recruit her latter.
>>147274530

also I played the Alien Hunters intro mission with the Viper King almost immediately after the mission. Though i didn't lose anyone it wasn't nearly as enjoyable, in spite of how awsomely OP Central is -- he dodged 3 viper grabs for fuck sakes.

I was being ironic.
Of course the boss fight is shit, it has an HP mountain and serious armor. If i wasn't playing on easiest i would've been pulling my hair out too. Almost no one got out of the mission without some damage, but everyone did get a promotion thanks to spawn farming.
>>147279602
Ah. For some reason, I can't get the game to let me upgrade the Alien Hunter weapons, I'm unsure as to why, so I've never seen the upgraded ones.
So is spark actually good member of squad? Also how the fuck do you use mecs, I've almost never used them in EW, how do I deal with the fact that i can't use cover?
>>147279183
Shen can hack the bots to death, but her abilities have cooldown and the bots spawn really fast.
Also they have 3 HP and 2 armor. Their own guns do one point of damage to each other if you hack them, so that tactic isn't as useful as it could be, and because your guys will do 5 damage on average with basic weapons, you can just shoot them.
The result is a slogfest.
>>147279959
You use the patented strategy of killing everything on the turn you activate, just like the rest of the game.

Those alien gene mods fuck you up good
>>147279959
Mecs (and shivs) not having to use cover is the best part of them, it more or less breaks the game because you can use them to safely scout out areas, flush the enemy out of cover, and flank without having to worry about being counter flanked.
Their base defense is high enough that it dosn't matter that they have no cover, and they have more HP than normal soldiers anyways. Because they will be drawing fire, they will protect the rest of your squad, and since they can engage the enemy on their own terms without having to hide in high cover, they will get more accurate shots.
What I like to do in long war, is have two or three shivs on my team. They just scout, flank, and suppress, while the organics go in for the killshot so the XP won't be wasted (Unless it's an enemy that needs to die immediately ) The Ayys freak out, and half the time waste ammo trying to suppress the SHIV.

Kind of forgot about xcom2 after my first playthrough. I noticed the DLC finally came out so that got me interested again, but when looking at the DLC my first impression is like "that's it?"
Seems like pretty shallow content they added. Nothing like the EW addon to the first game.

Anyone one else nearly maxed out their Spark Class? I've got one to the 2nd last rank and I can't figure out what their roles are, they seem to be a weird mix of everything with their constant jumpjetting and Fuck-shit-up super mode standing out. I've been using mine as a jump cleanup crew but not being able to slap weapon mods on them to make their 3-mag size bigger is painful.
>>147289540
I've been using mine as a shot magnet. Tier 2 armor + bulwark = 3 armor. Final ability in future warfare gives an additional 2 armor temporary and makes attacks in a radius redirected to the spark.
>>147289634
Eh, must be the better Advent mod but I almost every god damn thing shreads my shit in. At least having 6+ armor can reduce damage for the first few hits somewhat. They seem more powerful early game but their functions get replaced later when you get access to better tech, Wait, does their shredding effect go up in tier like the Grenadiers?
>>147289816
Yes. Armor upgrades for them also increase their mobility a bit.
>>147289165
sapper->HEAT->Repair->mayhem->EC->bombard is the orthodox way to build them
Can also try some sort of utility/support build but it steps on the toes of medics and sapper is still a mandatory pick.
>>147289165
Engies can be built in a lot of ways, usually opinions are divided across people. I prefer the all in approach, where I end up specializing them towards one thing only for maximum performance. As such, two builds.
Grenading Engineer
Sapper > HEAT Warheads > Suppression > Mayhem > Packmaster > Bombard
Support Engi
Smoke Grenade > Smoke and Mirrors > Repair > Dense Smoke > Packmaster > Bombard
Grenading engineers not only can get absolutely anything destroyed on the field, but you get the absolutely amazing suppression + mayhem combo on the field a lot earlier than with gunners, which means you can eliminate those ranger 2hp moments at a point in the game where it matters. When it stops being common, you give your Engi shredder ammo and congratulations, you have a cover removing god with the added benefit of being a budget bullet wizard on demand.
Support engineers basically mean you'll rarely get hit, and become your saviors when needed. Activate 3 pods at once? Just throw two smokes and suddenly you have +40 defense all across the board for 2 turns. They can carry other support grenades like Acid Grenades, and ensure robots get seriously fucked the entire mission. On top of it, they'll practically be a requirement once capturing season hits, as they lug Repair around.
I got through Brutal just fine with these builds(well, until I burned out on landed large #7149 anyway), but a word of warning. Specializing these guys opens up slack in your squad, so you have to make sure that your roster is built to pick it up(so if say, support engi comes out, extra infantry comes out on the field).
>>147281524
I actually really like that they made Julian a MEC voice.

I've only ever encountered the Viper King so far in Alien Hunters. Are the other two ruler aliens set to have the same sort of behavior such as taking a turn every time you complete an action? I imagine the berserker queen ruler would be terrifying when fighting if she can perform an action every time you do.
Just lost a campaign on Commander to some fucking LOS bugs. Turns out that Jake feels like a full cover van with a VIP in it doesn't break LOS and that giving you control over the VIP when you're something like 18 tiles away and the door is still locked makes sense. Other highlights from that mission include:
-Spawn literally next to an enemy pod. Concealment broken on turn 1, before I even get to go.
-Two pods pull when I move a rookie next to the van with the VIP (again, in full cover, on the far side of the van from them). Game immediately summons reinforcements.
-A flashbanged suppressed Advent Officer manages to use Overwatch to crit kill someone who is dashing between heavy covers. He had my only med kit. That kill panics two other soldiers, one of whom shoots at an Advent Trooper, hits the van with the VIP, and insta-blows the van up, killing the VIP and the rookie next to it.
Central yelled at me. I ragequit the mission and scrubbed the campaign, because I had already lost two troopers, had 9 Advent facing me down, and had no real chance of victory, much less evac since I couldn't call for it (VIP rescues are shit). Thanks, Jake.

Only outlier was my grenadier who was hit by it somehow. Probably misjudged where sacrifice deployed.

How would you feel if the Alien Hunter bosses reacted in a fixed manner instead of the free-turn that they currently get? Flanking the Viper King for instances will always make it find cover, Shooting Archon King will make him shoot back instead of nuking your entire team etc? Their signature abilities can't be spammed unless you piss them off (Viper king - Fire attack, Berserker Queen - Melee and Archon King - Grenades) Their vulnerability to frost and burst damage can be tweaked to make it less of a DPS burst race each fight and more drawn out to encourage smarter actions

That's pretty much what I got before, but it got worse after the new DLC. Could be the new mods though, I'll go back to my old ones. I noticed worse performance in general after fucking around with Grimy's Loot Mod and that was before the update.
Ayy

SDK still broken, so today on Xcum we continue our horrible horrible adventure fighting the ayy scum, previously i failed 2 campaigns on gatecrasher, and then 1 more after slowly losing all my rookies and my precious supplies after we barely made it through gatecrasher with 2 survivors.
Now we have 6 squaddies ready for action though, so we might just make it through the early game this time.
>>147314420
So far so good, a sectoid and his buttbuddies tried to ayy us, almost killed our sharpshooter but he lucked out and the advent missed the kill shot.
Now we just gotta hope we don't run into a giant pod with an officer or something.

>>147315568
And every soldier made it out, there was one more pod next to the evac but it was uneventful, 2 advent soldiers died to overwatch fire and another died to getting bruised.
The fucking sectoid nigger though, he took heavy cover on the other side of the building, but i managed to grenade his cover away in the next turn since he wasted his turn on a mindspin, and then we just shot him with our rocketeer and sharpshooter. Shot that nigga dead.
>>147316119
He came like that out of the rookie academy, ready and fashionable for action.
>>147316515
I'm not even sure what skill to get here, but more aim is always good so i guess spotter is better? I'll just take that.

They're rookies that come as psi operatives but they can't get all the psi abilities like the normal psi operatives since they level up like a normal class.

Survival Instinct is like covering fire and blast padding meshed together and has the same rules as Spotter, minus the holo-targeting.
>>147317640
These fucking healsluts make me so nervous, no healing allowed.
Things are going """"well"""" with our troops, we lost the gunner but other than that things are working out nicely, but there's a fucking sectoid on the other side of the map killing 1 civilian per turn.

>>147318387
Man, what the fuck. 2 Overwatches, one sectoid and one priest in heavy cover and i have no rockets and no grenade can reach that far, even my gremlin is out of range so i can't combat protocol one of them. And if i just wait i bet they're going to kill another civie and the mission will fail.
So, here's my best guess, maybe since my bruiser is in heavy cover and there's smoke all around him i can kill one of them with him, and then move my psi foward to stasis one of them, then i can hurt another one with combat protocol and hope everything works out nicely.
Or my bruiser dies instantly and then they kill me.
>>147318640
FUG, the officer missed though but we might just lose our bruiser next turn.
And once again, only the tier1 things look good. They really should get a new designer because the midgame armors look fucking retarded.
havent played for a while, are there any mods on nexus that are good and arent on the workshop?
>>147318829
Oh god, he lived. I used aid protocol instead of combat in hopes of saving him and i used stasis on the officers. The trooper overwatched and the sectoid did nothing, literally nothing.
>>147318356
>Dear god what mod is that?
No clue, i'm guessing the priest mod since there's a priest in the club. I think the officer might be from a previous pod and he ran away to join the team.
>>147318938
Why do the tier 2 and 3 armors look bad?
>>147318938
There's lots that I know of on the steam workshop but not the nexus.
If you're a pirate can you just get someone to upload them for you?
>>147318975
Everything's working out, healed our bruiser with a heal grenade, flanked the officer, dodged the officer's attack and the sectoid ran away and made our psi panic.
>>147319224
Oh boy here we go
>>147319106
tier2 is somewhat acceptable but still weird, 3 is way too shiny and smooth. Doesnt look functional at all and completly out of place compared to the game world.
Whenever i see the warsuit i cringe thinking that massive arm thing on the shoulders would get caught in something and rip half of the armor off. Its just a horrible design.
They said that the only reason the ayys use shiny crap is to look impressive, how the fuck does xcom gets mixed up in this?
also, the customization options completly disappear with tier3, another annoying shit.
>>147319172
nigga im on steam but havent checked in with the nexus for xcom ever. I used to upload mods for pirates on the first few weeks.
Just askin to see if there are any of the retarded "nexus exclusive" crap goin on again.
>>147319394
Welp, we won but we lost our gunner who had a perfect track record.
>>147319458
Just get the XCOM 1 armor imports. There's carapace and power armor. Also there's the Halo armor for more tier 3 stuff, or halo marines for tier 1 or 2.
>>147319573
Now these skills for bruiser are more interesting, on one hand one is better for killing things, but the other might make it easier to send him on suicide missions. Not sure which one to pick.
>>147319704
>-6 mobility
So that's awful right? I don't think that trade off is good enough.
Any chance the dlcs will get a bigger discount some time soon?
>>147319807
>not even one alloy
JUST
>>147319458
Oh no then there's nothing that I found on xcom nexus that was exclusive to it. There are more steam exclusives (I imagine by laziness rather than intent)
>>147319106
Best approach to make is:
Armor T1: Either civvie type outfits, the BDUs >>147318938 , and Xcom 2 Vanilla Kevlar if you feel it.
Weapon T1: The realism weapons or Xcom2 T1 weapons.
Armor T2: Xcom2 vanilla kevlar if you feel it, Advent style armor, Xcom1 Metal armor ported over ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=660878813&searchtext=xcom+1 ) or Halo Marine/ODST armor or the titanfall armor ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=650731226&searchtext=titanfall )
Weapon T2: Vanilla Gauss/magnetics and/or the Halo reach weapons.
Armor t3: Xcom1 ported over Titan armor ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=660521897 ) or the bonanza of halo power armor (which looks more rugged and less polished than the titan armor) or WA's power armor ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=653902466 ).
Weapon T3: Keep the upgraded tier of Halo reach weapons (same stats as plasma), accept vanilla plasma, or the fantastic looking but still wip mercenary plasma ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=707170261 )
This is the ODST armor, although I have a weird issue with the shine/specularity/gloss on the legs (and sometimes the arms). If you run http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/141/? then it will make the shiny legs more acceptable.

Advise a pleb on XCOM. I played through 2 on release, and I want to do another run. Since then all the DLC has come out.
All of the steam reviews say alien hunters is shit and shouldn't be installed. Is that right? Is there a mod that retains the content and makes it fun?
As an aside I ran into several game breaking glitches last time and had to load my way out of them, now I want to do an Ironman run. Has shit been fixed?
>>147323047
People shitting on ayylien hunters are babbies who can't deal with a bit of extra challenge, like, THREE times during the entire campaign.
Just pack repeaters, have frost nades on a salvo grenadier and don't take on the mission early.
>>147323047
I wouldn't say that alien hunters is shit, it's just that the alien rulers are ridiculously bullshit.
That said, you can get the dlc, activate it, do the first beacon to get the weapons and then you can just not do the alien hunters mission if you don't want, if you don't do the mission you don't have to deal with the alien kings. But killing the kings lets you get their bodies as armor. It also comes with some cosmetics here and there.
Anarchy's Children is just cosmetics and Shen's Last Gift adds Sparks, Xcom2's version of Mecs. If you liked Xcom2 you should probably just get the DLCs.
>>147322974

Well, think of it this way
Soldier with 12 mobility can move 24 tiles, or 12 and shoot.
With -6 holster you can still move 12 and shoot, or 18 tiles dash.
Now, the highest mobility I've ever had on a soldier myself was 20, with an SMG, flexweave on armor, and some perks, while highest max base mobility I've had on any soldier was 15.
The first benefit of this holster appears on 13 mobility soldiers, making them able to move 14 tiles total and being able to shoot, instead of 13 without the holster, but limits their dash range to 21 instead of 26.
Overall on 13, 14 and 15 mobility soldiers you gain 1/2/3 tiles you can move and still be able to shoot, while losing 5/4/3 dashing range.
And that's just on regular quality holster, if we take the advanced one under the scope, which has -5 mobility, the first benefit of +1 move and shoot range, while having a -5 dash range.
On 15 mobility soldiers an Advanced sidearm holster has NO PENALTY whatsoever, actually makes them more effective, as their dash range penalty will be 0
Now let's see the superior one in question, which has -4 mobility, you see a benefit of 2 range on 10 mobility soldiers, while also haivng a 2 range penalty to dash range. On JUST 12 mobility you have NO DISATVANTAGE AT ALL for equipping the holster on his/her sidearm, and from mobility 13, through 14 and 15 you actually gain dash range, 1/2/3 respectively, while also gaining 3/4/5 move&fire range
I hope I made it clear enough.
>>147332483
Forgot about the advanced holster mobility stat that has an improvement, it was 11 mobility

Probably. I hope the expack explains more. Pretty much hinted at since there's a lot of assets that got removed recently from the sdk and the filenames referred to not the DLCs but to another set of material.
Also would like for them expand more on the not-Tiberium from the novel. Novel may have been MEDIOCRE but it's still canon. Advent flamethrower troops sound like hellish fun to fight against, not to mention the infected animals acting like pseudozombies/Cordyceps-infected bugs.

Is there a mod somewhere that changes the scale of units, like in LW?
>>147339092
I wish the DLC added a bit more than just a single mission.
I would have liked a new mission type 'factory raid' where you raid and locate SPARK prototypes rather than just building more of them in the foundry.
It would let us fight the new enemy type a bit more, kinda the same thing with the nano vipers.
I'd probably mod it to be that way but I have zero experience in modding. The derelict MECs look pretty cool, can't really replicate them with SPARKs.
Are there any class mods geared toward doing shit like solo ADVENT Facility missions?
>>147341241
>I would have liked a new mission type 'factory raid' where you raid and locate SPARK prototypes rather than just building more of them in the foundry.
Thats awesome, makes them much more valuable, potentially justifying making them pretty damn strong, and fits into the setting better than building them on board the Avenger.
If your infantry are scavenging gear how do you have the capacity to build SPARKs?

I get annoyed at how attatched firaxis is to making xcom come off as some plucky underdog faction when that clearly isn't the case
>>147356264
According to plot and world-building that is the case. A proficient player demonstrates that from a game-play perspective that's not the case.

>>147255792
>>147345365
If you are going to wait that long before unlocking SPARKs, why bother at all?
Also this mission isn't hard if you do it smart, don't have Lilly rush ahead to trigger the next wave of Mecs without putting your guys in position first, and don't waste time once the elevators are ready. Save your grenades for the boss and try to kill it quickly before too many Mecs spawn. Hacking the Mecs isn't that useful because their weapons are less effective than yours and you can kill them in one shot anyways.
>>147357534
>Hacking the Mecs isn't that useful
>hack all MECs in area with sectopod hack
>group them under the sectopod
>capacitor discharge at the sectopods feet
>>147357643
Okay that's actually a fun idea, particularly if you are playing on higher difficulties where the Sectopod has crazy hp, but hacking them individually is a waste of time.
Also you forgot to mention the step where you prime them for self destruct.
Do these faggots only appear in the last mission?
>>147359173
They appear once before the last mission. Much like the ethereals in X1 actually.
>tfw can't equip utility items and grenades to spark

>>147359173

I just got a MEC-7 and with 12 proxy mines and my engineer is having trouble keeping up detonating all my mines on missions with 50+ aliens.
Looking for something with more lasting power than just 9 grenades.
Are ADVENT reinforcements just not working for anyone else? Every drop ship lately has been empty.
>>147357304
Yeah, the modles in that game would be pretty nice as options for modders
>>147359292
>Much like the ethereals in X1 actually.
Actually, once you take down the Overseer, any UFO you take down afterward will have an Ethereal as a captain (replacing Sectoid Commanders, who replace Outsiders after the Alien Base), so you can basically fight them for as long as you want in regular missions before you do Temple Ship.
This is a modded map pack for openxcom, right? Because I see it bearing a bit of resemblance to the slums elevated highway tileset from XCOM 2

>>147361107
I am aware, it just never happens unless you're just mucking about. Ethereals weren't really brought back into the main game until Long War, something that future mods should also do.

As long as you save one civvy, it's okay.

>>147369050

>>147369279
Can rockets even kill LW outsiders in one hit? IIRC in EU I used rockets against them because they had low health but deadly accuracy with their light plasma, however in LW they were more tanky and less immediately deadly.
>>147366743
Now they actually need regular heads instead of those weird robotic ones, and human voicepacks, and I can pretend.
>tfw SHIVs are your best soldiers
>>147369667
LW rockets are more deadly than vanilla, you can hit 10 with the standard launcher and no perks. Usually not all outsiders in the pod will be leaders either.
There's very little reason to hold back on explosives against outsiders because they don't have a corpse. Pointless fighting the 80 aim rapid reaction opportunist 5 regen 15 move monster when all it drops is a weapon fragment.
>>147370297

>>147371325
I use it and it still happens, really ruins my immersion
>>147371128
>>147372143
It bothers me too, but I know why it happens if you care. Each tier has a different number of arm/leg/torso options and when you change armor tiers, the game gives you whatever is in the item slot you were using on the previous tier. There's kinda no fix. It's annoying, but you only have to deal with it twice per campaign thanks to the manager and global uniforms, so it's manageable. Aggravating though.
>>147372509
I was playing wavecom with exalt soldiers and every time I swapped armors it would fuck everything, couldnt use the manager in wavecom of course. ruined the whole play through.

>>147395472
You can reduce the ticker by raiding facilities,. but honestly if you haven't gotten the codex yet, you brought this on yourself. Stop trying to grind.
It think the 'bad' ending could've been made better if instead of losing once the doom ticker completes, Avatars become a common enemy and UFOs spawn much more frequently, with higher chances of shooting down the Avenger and Retaliations happen bi-weekly

The right side of the SPARK tree needs a buff, most of it is mediocre since you can't mod your SPARK or give it other equipment other than the heavy weapon. For tanking, its godlike with 6 armor, just sucking up the attacks for massive damage but everything else is done better by another class. Also, I swear the trailer did gave it some throwing animation for grenades, where did that go? How would you make SPARKS more unique?
>>147401612

>>147399413
A decently fun game that will, pure Vanilla, last you about 20 hours if you don't fail a campaign. It's no magnificence simulator 2016, but it holds its bullshit well enough in the early game as per xcom tradition.
Modded, it will last you quite longer. Cosmetics, gameplay mods, map mods, class mods, etc.

R A R E S N . . .Wait, that's gross.
It's a miracle, the SDK works again. A guy called TrackTwo on the nexus forums figured it out, and all it took to fix it was to change something from false to true on some random config file. Too bad about all the people that reinstalled the entire 80+GB sdk multiple times to try and fix it. Not all of the problems are gone but at least everything is functional again, but let's count the issues that came with this fucking patch.
First, and i think this one is global, if you launch the modbuddy through steam you cannot debug your mod, this is easy to avoid you just have to launch the modbuddy outside of Steam.
Second, when you try to build a mod it fails to build, i thankfully didn't encounter this one, apparently there were 3 separate fixes for this one, don't know which one fixed it since it didn't happen to me, but one was to just reinstall the sdk or verify the tool cache, and another was that apparently a pop up flashes on your screen when it fails to update and you just have to click ok on it.
The third one is the one that had everyone fucked over, can't open the editor at all, when you try and open it it gets to the part where it says "Loading objects referenced by: FoliageBrushSphereMaterial" and then it just closes itself without any error. The fix was to go to XCOM 2 SDK\XComGame\Config and change [SourceControl] Disabled=False to True in XcomEditorUserSettings.ini and now you can open the Editor again.
The fourth problem i remember reading someone else having it but i couldn't find his post, so i spent several hours trying to fix it. Basically apparently if you are subscribed to your own mod, when you try to update or debug your mod or whatever, even if you tell the launcher to load the mod you didn't download through steam, it will load that one. All i did was unsubscribe to my mod, delete the other one and debug it again, that fixed it. I don't know if that was a one time thing or i'll have to keep unsubscribing to my mod.
tl;dr: Thanks Jake

But shiet, fuck all that crap. Let's kill ayys.

Last time on Xcum we raided a train, and we almost got raped by 60 Advents, today on Xcom we only have the B team to depend on as our entire A team got their shit all fucked.
And i just remembered i forgot to take my heal and smoke grenade so shit's already fucked.

Somehow they haven't spotted me, but i'm sure the instant i end my turn they will.

Or they'll just slowly walk away

>mfw there's another fucking pod walking around in front of the building
That's at least 4 pods standing there.

It's absolutely easy. It's pretty much a zero-risk mission for those who know what's coming.
Newfoundland's "difficulty" comes from the scare the shitton of chryssalids gives you. People go in playing it like a normal mission, and thus get fucked over. Once you know, it's really just a matter of adapting to that single type of enemy and it becomes an exp. farm
Just throw tactics out of the window like cover, move slowly to prevent getting overwhelmed, bring lots of nades (and in the case of LongDong, use that armor that trades health for mobility, as lids will instakill you anyway).

Fucking niggers.
But i guess it's fine, i-it's not like i wanted that grenadier or anything.

But don't forget that if you're playing the magnificent edition there's also going to be a thin mint pod in there to fuck your shit up.

I can't find the patch notes where they nerfed grenadiers. Link?

With potentially seeker, yes.
When you encounter thin mints, just move back a bit so that you won't encounter extra 'lids, then blow up their cover.
With seekers, huddle up in overwatch (I'm also pretty sure the mints don't have LR yet at that point)

I'd restart that without shame, you can't win it without knowing beforehand and anyone playing LW knows and expects that mission. Another one to expect is that the 3rd terror mission will be100% lids and zombies.
long schlong newfoundland strategy:
>a minimum of two engineers with grenades and AP grenades
>everyone else carries one AP grenade; if bringing a rookie, they can bring two AP grenades; don't be hesitant to use them on the thin mints too since you get no corpses anyway
>assaults, infantry, scouts are most useful, but you can also bring some rookies to train
>2-3 shotguns but not more, you need an answer to the thin mints and you have enough AP nades to kill all the lids anyway
>don't go through the middle because you can have 12 lids walk in on you, take the back route

>100% lids and zombies.
Actually kind of easy.
Just get a bunch of Assaults with Close Combat Specialist
