Well Bobs overhaul is already ported so you could say there will be new things every day.

I don't like it, or any other big overhauls. I think the game is really good as is and a few quality of life/vanilla+ mods make it shine. The "biggest" mod I use is VanillaEx.

At the moment I have four gatling turrets set to max range (800m) and it seems like they blow through ammo trying to hit meteors that will never actually come near the base, and they lead the shot but miss anyway due to their cone of fire issues, so it seems like they blow through their ammo on irrelevant targets then just never hit them anyway.

I tried putting them at ranges between 100-300m and they don't even seem to fire at incoming meteors soon enough.

Is there any trick to placement that may make them more effective? I am thinking of maybe building them in a cone so they hopefully ignore targets they can't see and focus on meteors coming in at a specific direction.

I dunno if other people did it, but there was this massive map back in GM11 that was pitch black, basically just flatgrass but without any light, and me and my friend group at the time would make bases and vehicles to attack the other guys, with the understanding that being in darkness for more than a couple of seconds meant death. It was pretty fun, but for a large group you'd have to actually have some way to enforce the dark = ded thing.

Hullo /FtD/.

I can't seem to find a way to control this thing precisely: when I'm using an Air Controller I can control pitch and yaw and I can set up my upwards propeller to decrease or increase spin depending on how high I am. However, I can't find a way to set my forwards thrust with ACBs and using the "control received to go forwards/back", although weirdly enough I can use roll and pitch to trigger it. On the other hand using a complex controller I can control thrust upwards and forwards, but my ailerons and tail planes do not work.

Send help pls.

Exactly as you see, anon.

For advanced cannons you make an ammo swastika. For CRAM just a rectangle of pure autoloaders. Every firing piece has to be totally separate from the others. Six way connectors from the left barrel cannot touch any of the other barrels. Same with gauge connectors. The only blocks they can share are when autoloaders share pellet blocks between firing pieces.

I don't claim this to be the most efficient way, but it works for me and it's not as confusing as making a fucking maze of connectors and autoloaders.

This is a bottom-looking-up view of a CRAM cannon loading cross section. You just make big columns of these, and repeat the columns as much as you want until your cannon is sufficiently deadly. The three firing pieces can share the ammo pellets, but not the loaders or connectors.

Like I said, you could do it more efficiently because in theory it should perfectly tessellate (I think), but that's way too confusing for me to build.

The bigger gun actually fires faster, too, because the small gun has so few autoloaders because it's entirely inside the turret housing.

CRAM guns are literally only good for bombs or for a capital ship's anti-capital ship armament. This is because they have a very slow fire rate (the main gun in my pic fires at 4 rounds per minute. Each round does tens of thousands of damage, but that's only because I have so many pellet blocks. I have a question.
It's a question about curves.

I'm quite tired of my botes, spess botes, buildings, etc., in voxel based games looking like squares on squares or triangles.
For simple 2d curvature, which is just one shape extended, like cylinders, and other shit like that, I usually just model it via an equation.
The problem, and the solution I need have to do with three dimension curves. Now, it's probably really easy, and I'm just overcomplicating it, and making much harder than it actually is, but I'm not sure and need some new autism to suss it out.

Say, for example, I want to make a benis.
To do the head of the benis, you need to make a curve that curves.
So basically, an equation whose y coords are a parabolic, trigonometric, or other unmentioned fuctioned, and is possibly a piecewise, and whose z coords are yet another parabolic, trigonometric, or other unmentioned function, which is also possibly a piecewise.

I have no idea if this makes sense, but simply put;
I want to learn how to model the head of benis with math.

You can go either way, just make sure to get the same speed as your current ram, so if you have ddr3-1600 for example, get the same. For the most part it doesn't matter, but if you're serious about performance, get a whole new set.

Each motherboard model does only have specific RAM models that it will take. There are sites that will tell you what the suggested models are.

The most important part is the speed of the RAM (like ddr3-2400MHz or something) the rest is less important. It's best to have either two or four sticks of RAM. Each pair of RAM will 'work together' and you will rarely find RAM that isn't sold in pair for this reason. Your PC should still work with different RAM stats, but differences in RAM sticks could cause unforseen behavior or failures. I would suggesting buying a whole new pair of RAM.

I ran a RAM check on a PC for one of my clients today:
1x 2GB, 2x 1GB, 1x 512MB

I work in IT but I mostly focus on software. I'm sure some anons will be happy to correct me.
Also, I recently took this 32MB stick out of an old clients pc running Windows ME or something. Been using it as a big-ass keyring that I can't possibly misplace.

I had a 8GB 2x Ballistix DDR3 kit, but one of them kicked the bucket. Shoving it in the oven didn't help, and looking at the solders did neither (and I don't have the patience to go over every pin with a multimeter), so I got another kit of the exact same, so now I have 3 identical cards, one simply a little bit older.

Having an extra RAM stick won't break anything, your computer will still work. RAM is used in pairs for very good reason, but I'm not sure if having an odd number of sticks could cause any problems or if it could in any way be worse than just having two. If they are all the exact same model then you likely won't have any failures. Maybe someone else knows more but you may want to go research that.

Interestingly, we currently use pairs of RAM in a dual channel setup, but there was recently a period in the evolution of computers where having three sticks of triple channel RAM working together was more powerful. As far as I know dual channel is now on top again. I'm getting this info from my boss who has a gaming PC with three sticks of triple channel RAM in it.

The point here is, your motherboard is almost certainly configured to have pairs of dual channel RAM working together. If you add a third stick of RAM you aren't increasing your RAM by 50%, but you're equipping your computer with two sticks of dual channel RAM that work together, and a separate stick of single channel RAM that works all on its own. In that pic you can see two blue slots and two black slots, each pair of coloured slots will work together.

Almost definitely dual channel, and a quick look at cpu-z says they're all clocked at 800MHz bandwidth speed instead of the advertised 1600MHz
I might just fuck around with it in the BIOS, it might yield something.

Now looking at the retailer, 4GB cards aren't available individually, I'd have to either buy another kit or get an 8GB one of the same series, and god knows what that might cause.

Actually, has anyone ever played naval play?

It was a bote game where you built a bote and went out on the open seas to go siphon oil from an oil refinery to build cannons to shoot other ships. Any amount of time spent in the water would drain your stamina, when your stamina hit zero your health would drain rapidly and you'd drown.

Something similar with ground vehicles would be A+ engineering. Perhaps slow moving wheels were all you got so you have to build land battleships in order to move heavy ordinance.

Will depend of your mobo age and amount of slots
some motherboards has only 2 slots, and maybe those slots are being used, or maybe 4, but still the best is to just buy 1 8gb stick, and keep with it untill you upgrade the whole computer, if you gonna play demading shit like spengos, with planets and medium-high graphics, reaches 9gb of use.
In that case... 2 sticks of 8gb each.
ddr3 is very comon this days, and not as expensive because now the ddr4 wich is the expensive one, and still not that much difference (all talking about games, some very specific software take real advantage of better bus speeds and shit)
and if you put different sticks, it goes for the lowest common denominator (in speed).
Sometimes, there is latent damage waiting for the moment you replace the stick, and suddently the slot decides to not work again, so first test all the slots you have with the sticks you have, invert them or place it in the others slots to see if everything is "all right", then buy the new ones.

The real numbers will show an increase in like 1 or maybe 2 fps, and the most notorious shit could be less stutters if one of the bottlenecks is the ram speed, wich is not the case in most of the times.

I did used different sticks wich i rescued from scrap computers.

I see no problem in filling the empty slots with 1 or 2 sticks of 8gb.

as i said, it will lower the speed to reach a common number.

Dr.Eggman. I've finally managed to get this shit flying right.

It's a cruiser for the skylords. It's intended for early game (as usual for my stuff). Since it only has lateral propulsion, it "skids" through the sky when flying, meaning that it might be a difficult target to hit from the sea (it flies at 760m, and 28m/s).
They are cheap, weak and their only defense is the flares i have to add in the back, so they can be a kinda serious threat for unprepared players. Or those who don't use LUA or laser-guided misiles. Or railguns. Or lasers. Or PC. Or other fast flying vehicles.

Expecting the shitty starter pistol to save you. If you see biters in the minimap, get military research done first and build an SMG immediately. 20-30 ammo should be fine. shotguns are anti-building /terrain-clearing weapons and only become a mediocre anti-biter option later.

Also remember that if a container is destroyed, ALL of its contents are also completely lost. DO NOT put valuables like solar panels inside of anything other than a steel box if it's likely to get destroyed by anything.

One big weakness of the railgun was its ability to only punch neat holes right where you point it. I have fixed this using a system of 3 rotating spherical gravity generators on prime number rotation speed to psuedo-randomise shot distribution.

I have it built, but testing is being hampered by space engineers shitting itself whenever I try to load a level and basically killing my PC for 30 minutes. If it works as intended it should vaporise anything placed in front of it, regardless of the object's size or distance.

Nah, "flyers" with wings and helicopter blades are shit still and get fucke din the ass by nearly everything. Drones/Thruster sticks now have long range accurate SMGs, that let them fuck you while spinning around in random directions directly above you.

Back then i also tried to do it in zmodeler, but i was so shit at it that i abandon it after a few tries.
Also, i think there is a google app, or page or soemething to do that, you put the measures of everything, where the door is and wich direction it opens, and you arrange everything, maybe its something you can try if you can translate the game assets into it.

Having a eye-space awareness and transform your eyes into ruler projectors is quite hard, more if you draw in forced perspectives, and even more if you dont have any background doing something similar.
I was more used to it because i worked with dad making wooden furniture, and sometimes you didnt have time to make measures, so you just make sure that everything is at 90° and go along with it.
In the end of the year i did everything on hand and fuck pic related, it allways ended up looking odd when i used them.
I was shit at making the writting, but the drawings were so good that sometimes the teacher forgave me of doing it.
Its the most painfull memory i have about that.

Totally incomplete. Contraptions Extended helps a lot, but it still isn't as complete as it could be. I believe terminals can only control the production of one of each type of builder on a power grid, and all copies make the same thing. FYI, the tiny SMGs still suck dick. They still have the absolute lowest DPS of all the SMGs, even though they have the fastest fire rate. They just tickle people to death. Try to at least use the mid-tier ones, or the high tier ones if you can fit them. Remember that you can side mount smgs now, and not suffer much of a fire rate decrease at all when they cant hit shit.

I've since switched to vaporizers.

The car you see there is rebuilt for the current update and all ready to go, except for the weapons, I guess.
