Once you get going, though, try to be in a party, and aim to PSE Burst in order to maximize the capsule drops for the next area. Do this and you'll get an excess in no time

They do, there is a random chance for one to occur every hour on the hour. This twitter (https://twitter.com/pso2_emg_hour) updates at :05 and warns of EQs coming the next hour.

However, no random EQ can take place 2 hours before a scheduled EQ, and Elder, Loser, and Magatsu all have an hour long cooldown after the EQ happens where no random EQs can happen.

Ephinea has more customization options and a sandbox mode if you want to skip the grinding. Also has a PSO2 style loot system if you want to.

Ultima has a lot of content that is very RA oriented, and a lot of weird unique weapons. 3x xp and rare enemy spawn, very easy to get into and level for that reason. It's what I've been playing lately and it's acceptable.
