Gwent standalone will fail. I played Gwent in W3 and the game is not fun. The mechanics are simply boring.

you can use a mod that adds more skillslots if you really want to use all the tools available to you

the only useful armor glyphword is levity which essentially negates the negatives of using heavy armor

however glyphs are also pretty useless for a non-sign build, the health regen one is ok up until new game plus where it will heal a laughable percentage of your health

i'd just take levity if you're going sword/alchemy with heavy armor. get swords and armor with high crit damage, invest in the hunter instinct alchemy skill and go to town with rend spamming

if you're going swords/alchemy heavy armor is extremely overpowered. i'd take light armor if you're feeling dangerous

armor rating is fairly pointless later on, resists matter more since resists are % based and heavy armor has much better resists

most people go with heavy armor for swords/alch build and it complements rend so take that if you want an armor skill

personally i'd recommend modding in more skillslots, if only so you can dick around with signs whenever you feel like it. signs are honestly pretty boring and kinda pointless other than quen and yrden. i wish the devs made them more tactical; if you build for signs it's really just igni spam while hopping around like a retard or else using that incredibly overpowered aard from blood and wine. signs build is also ineffective against story bosses because most of them resist or are immune to sign critical effects

Griffin school techniques combined with full medium armor gives the largest amount of stamina regen you can get in the game, by far. (20stam/s) So it is useful for any spec that uses signs, whirl and rend.

You should still use signs in your combat. Not for damage but for their effects. Try to reach 100% burning for igni, which doesn't take much sign intensity. Many monsters and humans do the panic-dance when on fire, opening them up for attacks.

Know that the sign talent page is pretty useless. Sign intensity is mostly gained via gear, mutagen bonuses and mutations.

The balance is fucked in all games. When you increase in levels, your enemies only increase in their numbers, higher health/damage. A level 1 drowner does the same things as a level 50 drowner.
