I beat the game on Death March over a year ago and decided to make a completely new playthrough for HoS and B&W. Are there any places below level 10 or so to grind XP?

I have a question about the combat system. Under the enemy Health bar there seems to be a stamina bar of some sort, but nothing really happens if I push it to zero, what's it for?
Also, it's a bit annoying that a lot of monsters can attack right trough your combo, without even flinching. Specially since mid swing you can only dodge or roll cancel (I prefer roll because dodge is kinda shitty to hit on my keyboard) and not into parry. Not that it matters anyway because every time I tried to parry something non human Geralt got stunned for his trouble.

That's toxicity, you get higher toxicity when you consume potions, you have to create White Honey to get rid of it.
Normally it doesn't do much, but if it's higher than 75%, your life will start getting lower.

You can't parry monsters, just dodge the attacks.
Parrying is only for people who attack you with swords and such.
Dodge is kinda more useful than rolling because it dodges the attack and doesn't leave you like 20 feet from the enemy, so you can start attacking him right away.

Don't worry, there's lots of Witcher gear, and the upgraded original one might be useful for a couple of levels more, but you can find more witcher gear that can be upgraded much more and will be useful for the entire game and DLCs.
For those you have to buy maps in blacksmiths and armorers, which will start treasure hunts for diagrams to craft those armors.

Dodging is godly against enemies with 2 handed weapons. Attack, dodge back, repeat until they're dead. They'll never block you and they'll never hit you.

It's also great against groups of fast but weak enemies like wolves and Nekkers, just swing, dodge left/right, swing again. Dodge quick enough and you can take on packs of 10 or more without a scratch.

Do the main Gwent quests. Once you beat 1 person they'll send you to the next. Playing random people won't get you far, you'll get new cards but they'll probably be on the shittier side, or for a deck you don't even use.

Don't feel that bad if you think you're shit. Gwent is pretty RNG and deck-based for the earlier and mid parts of the game until you get decent cards.

Keep your deck around 22 of your best cards, don't go all out shoving every random card in your deck.

If your draw and redraw fuck you over and you don't get any decoys or spies, or anything that good then just forfeit and try again, if your hand is that bad. Especially if you know your opponent is going to be a massive asshole with tons of medics, spies and scorch cards.

So I'm replaying the game and telling the Baron that his wife is that nutty woman in Crookback Bog

Then Geralt goes on this spiel about how she asked for the Crones' help to abort the child, and bound herself to them for exactly one year, and the mark on her hand is a magical fetter, and all sorts of other really specific details about the pact. Geralt goes from assuming the miscarriage was from the tussle to KNOWING that it was a sorcery abortion without ever being seen learning this.

When. The fuck. Does Geralt learn all this. He deduces it's her, goes back to the Baron and then magically knows every last detail. Did I miss a journal entry somewhere? Is there an option to go back to the Bog and ask 'Gran' 'hey bitch are you anna strenger, tell me about your deal and magic abortion'.

I understand that this is autism, and also that everyone wants to talk about B&W, but this is just bad writing if there's no missing piece to bridge this weird gap.

I did. Don't recall her talking about Anna's magic abortion, just that Anna said something like 'I didn't want the child anyway'. I did the Crones quest first, but the Baron quest first in my old playthrough. In that, when Geralt realizes Gran and Anna are one in the same, the Crones detail that Anna wanted their help getting rid of the child and put herself in their service. So when played in that order, it makes sense that Geralt knows all this. But when played the other way, I have no idea how he does.

Maybe in my headcanon I'll invent that Anna wrote all this down in a journal Geralt discovers in her room or something, since there's seemingly no in-game way of reconciling this gap. And yes, I could be autistic.
